Common 2016 Porsche Cayman problems
The Porsche Cayman 2016 is known for certain common problems that have been reported by owners. Here are some of the most frequently mentioned issues:
Noisy or rattling A/C compressor: This problem is often caused by a failing compressor clutch or a loose compressor mount. The rattling noise can be particularly noticeable when the car is idling or during acceleration. In some cases, the compressor may need to be replaced entirely.
Faulty fuel level indicator: Some Cayman 2016 owners have reported issues with the fuel level indicator displaying incorrect readings. This can be caused by a faulty fuel level sensor or wiring issues. In some cases, the fuel tank may need to be replaced to fix the problem.
Turbo failure: The Cayman 2016 is equipped with a turbocharger, which can fail prematurely in some cases. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including oil starvation, excessive heat, or mechanical failure. If the turbo fails, it may need to be replaced entirely, which can be a costly repair.
PDK faults: The Cayman 2016 is available with Porsche's PDK dual-clutch transmission, which can sometimes experience faults. These can include issues with the gearbox software, mechanical failure, or electrical problems. In some cases, the transmission may need to be replaced entirely.
Noisy PDK downshifts: Some Cayman 2016 owners have reported issues with noisy or harsh downshifts when using the PDK transmission. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including worn clutch plates, low transmission fluid levels, or software issues.
Decaying headlights: The headlights on the Cayman 2016 can sometimes decay or become cloudy over time. This can be caused by exposure to the elements or normal wear and tear. In some cases, the headlights may need to be replaced entirely.
Lane Change Assistance Malfunction: Some Cayman 2016 owners have reported issues with the Lane Change Assistance system, which can malfunction or fail to work properly. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including software issues or electrical problems.
In addition to these common problems, the Cayman 2016 has also been subject to recalls related to airbags and fuel lines. The first recall applies to early cars made up until 16 June 2016, and the second relates to cars built between 22 November 2017 and 25 April 2018 for the sensors that form part of the airbag system. An issue with the fuel lines in the engine compartment of Caymans made between 17 July 2019 and 15 January 2020 has also been reported.
Overall, while the Cayman 2016 is a reliable car, it is important for owners to be aware of these common problems and to address them promptly if they occur. Regular maintenance and servicing can also help to prevent many of these issues from developing in the first place.

I've owned many cars, but this one is by far my favorite to drive. I can't help but smile every time I get behind the wheel!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with the Porsche Cayman S. I had a 2010 model and it was a great vehicle. I agree with Edmunds that the steering was better in the old model, but the new 2014 model is much more comfortable and forgiving on long distance runs. The NAV, Bose Sound System, and interior are much better than the previous model, and the handling is exceptional. Plus, the exterior looks greatly improved! The only issue I had was that I bought a dealer demo with 750 miles and it was delivered to me without inspection. Unfortunately, I had some problems with the power seat and unbalanced tires. I even found a nail in one of the tires, which cost me $446 to replace. I would recommend avoiding The Collection in Miami. Thanks for listening!

Your 2016 Cayman GTS sounds like an absolute joy to drive! While it may not be the fastest car on the road, the handling and road feel are exceptional, making you feel truly connected to the car.

I hope you're doing well! I noticed that you mentioned you're on your second Cayman, which is a 2014 base. That's awesome! In my opinion, it's a pretty sweet car. Not only is it well made, but it's also expertly engineered.

What a great driving sports car! However, it's disappointing to hear about the sticky radio knobs, falling headliner, and peeling leather dash, especially considering the price point of almost $100,000.

Despite some drawbacks such as poor visibility, a cramped cabin, and average acceleration, this vehicle boasts great handling. While it may be challenging for taller individuals to enter and exit, it still holds its own against other sports cars, even when compared to my C7 Corvette.

Hello! Based on my experience, it seems that the seat support in this model of car tends to develop a squeaking issue after a few months of use. I tried replacing the seat support, but unfortunately, the noise returned after only four months. It's frustrating, but I plan to order the parts again and keep replacing them as needed. In fact, I ended up doing this until I sold the car in 2017. Thanks for reading!

I had an amazing experience purchasing this car from Brumos! The delivery only took an hour and the quality of the car is outstanding. It handles like a dream and has plenty of power to get you out of trouble. The luggage space is impressive and long drives are comfortable. I even got 29.2 mpg with the cruise control set to 80! Although this car is not a dragster, it is unmatched by most cars in turns and is extremely well balanced. After 9000 miles, I have become addicted to performance driving schools and events. If a driver can smoothly carry momentum, they will be tough to hang with. However, I must admit that after owning it for 2.5 years, I have spent close to a year in the shop and over $30,000 in repairs and very long waits for parts. Nothing seems to be stocked and it takes a boat from Germany after being custom made. It is not unusual for the car to be in the shop for 3-5 months. In conclusion, I would recommend buying a Miata.

What a great car to drive! However, after just seven years, I've noticed that the radio knobs have become sticky and the leather dash is starting to come loose towards the windshield. Unfortunately, it's going to cost around $10,000 to repair.
