2021 Honda Hr-v problems
The Honda HR-V is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) manufactured and marketed by Honda over three generations.
The first generation HR-V was based on the Honda Logo. It was marketed from 1999 to 2006 in Europe, Japan and select Asia-Pacific markets – and featured three doors (1999–2003) or five doors (1999–2006). The two configurations were internally designated GH2 and GH4 respectively.
After a seven-year hiatus, Honda reintroduced the nameplate for the second generation HR-V, based on the third-generation Honda Fit. Production began in late 2013 for the Japanese domestic market as the Honda Vezel (Japanese: ホンダ・ヴェゼル, Hepburn: Honda Vezeru), while production started in 2015 for North America, Australia, Brazil and select Asian markets as the HR-V. Apart from Japan, the model is also sold as the Vezel in China.
For the third-generation model, the nameplate is split between two different vehicles, one for the global market (sold as the Vezel in Japan), and a larger model based on the eleventh-generation Civic destined for North America and China. The latter model is sold outside those markets as the Honda ZR-V.
According to Honda, the name "HR-V" stands for "Hi-rider Revolutionary Vehicle", while the name "Vezel" is coined from "bezel", the oblique faces of a cut gem, with the "V" for "vehicle".

Common 2021 Honda Hr-v problems
The Honda HR-V, a subcompact SUV, has been reported to have several common problems by its owners. One of the most frequently reported issues pertains to the car's windows, specifically the window gaskets. The window gaskets are prone to leaking, which can lead to water entering the car's interior, causing damage to the interior components and creating an uncomfortable driving experience for the occupants.
Another issue reported by Honda HR-V owners is related to the car's electrical system, specifically the fuel gauge and digital gauge. Some owners have reported that the fuel gauge goes blank upon starting the car, requiring a restart and pressing the oil life button to restore it. Additionally, the digital gauge, including the odometer and fuel gauge, has been reported to randomly go blank, preventing the driver from knowing the fuel level. These issues can be frustrating for drivers, as they can make it difficult to monitor the car's fuel level and may require frequent stops to refuel.
The 2016 Honda HR-V, being the first production model year, has numerous complaints and recalls. Many of the reported issues are severe or frustrating, making it the worst model year for the subcompact SUV. Owners of the 2016 HR-V have reported various electrical problems, such as gauge control unit malfunctions resulting in blank dashboards, display flickering in cooler climates, push-to-start button issues, key fob malfunctions, on/off push button concerns, transmission and start/stop switch problems, and instrument cluster glitches.
Honda HR-V owners have also reported issues with the car's accelerator. When the throttle is lightly applied from a stop, the vehicle can suddenly leap forward, as if the driver stomped on the gas pedal. In other cases, while driving at highway speeds, the HR-V would begin to slow down, even if the driver applies more throttle. These issues can be dangerous, as they can make it difficult for drivers to control the car's speed and may lead to accidents.
The Honda HR-V's paint quality has also been reported to be a problem. Some users have reported that large patches of the roof paint flake away after a few years of use, while others have reported that paint has bubbled. There have also been reports of rust eating through the paint and bodywork. These issues can be costly to repair, as repainting a car can cost upwards of thousands of dollars, depending on how much of the car needs to be repainted.
In summary, the Honda HR-V has several common problems that can affect the ownership experience. These issues include window gasket leaks, electrical problems with the fuel gauge and digital gauge, accelerator issues, and paint quality problems. While many of these issues are relatively minor, some can be severe or frustrating, making it important for potential buyers to be aware of them before making a purchase.
What is the most common problem with Honda HR-V?

Honda is aware of this defect as per complaints, posts, blogs etc. Honda should disclosed this known defect to potential buyers prior to closing any sale, as it is a costly defect/hazard and requires abnormal parking criteria without guarantee of prevention. A reasonable person does not expect for exterior parts of their auto (an item meant for the outdoors) to melt in sunlight. A reasonable person does not expect to be restricted as to where to park a vehicle to avoid it melting. Had I been informed of the inferior quality of materials used in the manufacturing of this vehicle I would have purchased something else. This is outrageous and unacceptable. A auto is a huge investment.

-
This is a great car! It handles well and is a nice riding car.
-
This car is very comfortable and has some amazing features! I purchased the HRV sport and I absolutely love the Apple car play feature! It's super easy to park and the hood is sloped down so you can see everything! I really love this car!
-
Like most Honda vehicles, you can expect quality and reliability, and the HR-V does not disappoint. The ride is very comfortable, the seats are comfortable, it has just the right amount of pickup, and the gas mileage is very good.
-
I absolutely love my 2021 Honda HR-V EX-L, which is the fully loaded model. It's a stunning and comfortable car with excellent acceleration and handling control. Despite being a subcompact or compact SUV, it's surprisingly spacious and comfortable inside. One of the features that sets Honda apart is the back seats that flip down and the seat itself that flips up, providing extra storage options. The driver's seat is incredibly comfortable, and the heated front seats are a fantastic plus, especially for those with back problems or arthritis. I wholeheartedly endorse this car and give it a 100% recommendation. Interestingly, I've discovered that other manufacturers with similar models have received bad reviews for various reasons and are being discontinued.
-
I really enjoyed my Civic, but the HR-V is just the upgrade I needed. When my daughter saw it, she said, 'Mom, we're on top of the world!' It was totally worth it.

The ride quality of this vehicle may not be the most comfortable, as it can be quite bumpy and loud, especially when going over larger bumps. Additionally, it may not be the best fit for taller individuals. However, it does handle well and has good acceleration. Overall, while it may not be the best fit for everyone, it still has some positive qualities worth considering.

My wife has always owned CRVs and I must say, I really liked her last two. Although they were a bit older, they held up well in the rough part of the country we used to live in. Now that we are back in Los Angeles, we have noticed that the roads and driving are quite different. We have had this car for almost two years now, as my wife got it on a lease. While we won't be keeping it afterward, I must say that it is a great car overall. It performs well on surface streets and has better acceleration than I expected based on some of the write-ups I've seen. It also handles cargo quite well, as I was able to fit a sizable pile of 2x4s and 4x4s in the back after folding down the seats and covering everything with moving blankets. It can easily carry four large totes and is great on gas, although the tank is quite small. It warms up quickly and the seat heaters are a nice touch. As someone who is 6'2I've owned a variety of cars in my life, from 1950s trucks to 60s Mustangs, a Porsche, and even a modern Corvette racecar. However, my experience with this car has been disappointing. While it handles well on dirt roads, it feels every bump on the freeway in a negative way. The pot holes are horrible and the new tires that came with it grab seams in the road and want to follow them. The worst part is hard to describe though. At speeds over 60, it becomes very twitchy and has a strange body roll type of response to hump type ups and downs on the freeway. The average speed on the open road here is 70-80, and anything over 60 is very uncomfortable to drive. It takes a lot of extra attention to keep the car from moving around in the lane, and its body movement and shocks are just horribly distracting. While I won't go as far as to say it's dangerous, it's definitely not up to my standards. I've never owned a new car in my life because I prefer motorcycles and trucks, but I expected more from a car of this price and technology. Unfortunately, it falls short of the abilities of all my old junkers. I'm disappointed to say that I will be getting rid of this car. My only other complaint is the warning system that alerts me when I'm too close to something or crossing a line. However, I have noticed that it sometimes warns me about cracks in the road that don't even have paint on them, which can be quite annoying. As an experienced driver of 50 years, I have been avoiding bad drivers from all over the world my entire life, so I don't need a car telling me things that aren't helpful at all. Additionally, the light for these warnings is located under the dashboard, which can be distracting and take my attention off the road. Despite turning off the system that slams on brakes and grabs the wheel, the flashing yellow light is still a nuisance. However, I understand that this feature may be helpful for some drivers. My wife and I recently test drove an electric Ford Mustang and were blown away by its performance and handling. We are considering switching to an electric truck as well and installing solar panels on the roof to recoup some of the cost. Overall, this is the first Honda that I have not been completely satisfied with, but I appreciate the effort put into the warning system. Thank you for the opportunity to share my honest review. All the cars and motorcycles were great. If you're looking for a zippy car that handles well on corners and long trips, this one comes close. However, it may not be the best choice for freeway driving, as it can be risky. It might be suitable for young or inexperienced drivers, but it's important to avoid distractions while driving. Overall, I like this car, except for the freeway issue and the warning system. We're considering another CRV, especially the hybrid, but the Ford is also a great option.

Compared to my 2012 MAZDA 3, my 2021 HRV doesn't perform as well, especially in terms of road holding. Living in Bahrain, where the roads are generally easy to drive on, I've found that occasional winds can make it difficult for my HRV to hold its ground, which makes me feel unsafe. In contrast, my MAZDA 3 performed extremely well in Lebanon, where the roads are not always in great condition and there are often torrential rains. It also handled winding uphill roads when driving up to the mountains with ease.

But when my wife and I sat in a 2021 HR-V EX with cloth seats, it didn't quite meet our expectations. However, the sales rep suggested we try the Mazda CX30. As soon as we sat in it, we were blown away! The CX30 felt luxurious and high-end, but at a much more affordable price point. The test drive was also fantastic, the car handles beautifully. We knew right away that the CX30 was the perfect choice for us!
