2023 Honda Hr-v problems

The Honda HR-V is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) manufactured and marketed by Honda over three generations.
The first generation HR-V was based on the Honda Logo. It was marketed from 1999 to 2006 in Europe, Japan and select Asia-Pacific markets – and featured three doors (1999–2003) or five doors (1999–2006). The two configurations were internally designated GH2 and GH4 respectively.
After a seven-year hiatus, Honda reintroduced the nameplate for the second generation HR-V, based on the third-generation Honda Fit. Production began in late 2013 for the Japanese domestic market as the Honda Vezel (Japanese: ホンダ・ヴェゼル, Hepburn: Honda Vezeru), while production started in 2015 for North America, Australia, Brazil and select Asian markets as the HR-V. Apart from Japan, the model is also sold as the Vezel in China.
For the third-generation model, the nameplate is split between two different vehicles, one for the global market (sold as the Vezel in Japan), and a larger model based on the eleventh-generation Civic destined for North America and China. The latter model is sold outside those markets as the Honda ZR-V.
According to Honda, the name "HR-V" stands for "Hi-rider Revolutionary Vehicle", while the name "Vezel" is coined from "bezel", the oblique faces of a cut gem, with the "V" for "vehicle".

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-25
- VIN: 3CZRZ2H72PM
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The Back window blew up and dispersed glass at least 5 ft into my driveway while I was standing behind it. It was very scary and frightening. Fortunately, I did not get hit with any debris. The windows continued to make a crackling sound for several minutes. I had just got a safety recall a few days before and was planning on taking it in but the notification should have been much sooner and marked urgent, for example: Do not drive your car, it may blow up. When I researched, I can see that the issue was known as early as Jan 2024 and I was just notified in September 2024. Also, Honda is not offering loners for the fix even though we have to wait for the window to come in and have no transportation. They should be very accommodating considering the situation - people could really get hurt.

VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-11
- VIN: 3CZRZ1H58PM
- Components: VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: While driving on the highway, the rear windshield shattered with no warning. There was no lights, no sound, no crack, nothing that would indicate a problem. The car has been in use for 2 years with no problems. Once the car had been turned on, the rear defroster was turned on for about 3 minutes. Once the window was clear, it was turned off and about 10 minutes later, it shattered. No injuries but it was startling and could have caused additional accidents on the road, especially a highway that has such high traffic as this one. For once, it's a good thing that traffic was going so slow at 7am so there was more control to stop any potential collisions. It has been taken to the dealership for an inspection and to replace the window. They said that it has happened to several people, they have seen it at least 10 times in our area. I've always looked out for my car and take it to the dealership for oil changes or any recalls in a timely manner and never heard of this beforehand. Thankfully, no one else was in the car with me. But this should be more well known if it's such a common problem.

The car is overall great, above average. Although the front seats are very hard, there is plenty of room up front. The back seats are better, but it's recommended to bring a cushion for long rides. I love the outside styling, which is better than the competition. I got a great grey color, and the black interior is attractive and well-appointed. The car has enough power to get along, and the fuel economy is very good. I finally sold an 18-year-old Element to buy this, and I'm happy. However, Honda really needs to do something about the hard front seats.

Hey there! If you're considering the HRV, I highly recommend taking it for a test drive yourself. Don't let the naysayers fool you - it's definitely not slow! I have the 2023 HRV sport trim and it's packed with tons of features as standard. You'll love the adaptive cruise control, lane departure, road departure mitigation, frontal collision avoidance, pedestrian front and rear cross traffic warning, rear back up camera with different angles/views, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic lights with automatic dimming, heated front cloth seats with sport copper accent stitching, and black painted 18 rims with a more sporty design than the ex/ EXL trims. It's seriously loaded with features - I'm leaving several out because there are so many, and they're all standard too! The only downside is that there aren't any rear AC vents or a center folding armrest for back passengers, but it's usually just me driving by myself anyway. As far as driving goes, it's smooth, fairly quiet, and extremely fuel efficient. I have a lead foot and still get an average of 31.4 mpg in the city and 40+ mpg on the highway cruising around 55 to 65mph. On the interstate driving 70 to 85 mph, I average 34.2 mpg. Needless to say, I'm blown away by the performance and fuel efficiency. Mine is just the standard front-wheel drive, but I didn't get AWD because it's a complete waste of money here in the south. If you go with AWD, expect lower fuel mileage and higher maintenance costs than the standard FWD configuration. While it's not a race car, it's definitely adequate and pretty quick when going from 30 mph to 70 mph. The only time it sounds loud and buzzy is when you're really deep into the throttle - otherwise, it's pretty quiet. Overall, it's hard to beat the standard features to price ratio and Honda's reliability reputation. If you take care of it and maintain it properly, this HRV should easily last 200 to 350 thousand miles - easily 10 to 15 years. Let me know if you have any questions!Insurance in my case is cheaper because of all the standard safety features. I almost forgot about the keyless proximity fob, push button, advanced lock options, and advanced rolling down of windows with the fob, which are standard for sport trims and EXL trims. The same features, minus remote start, are standard for the base lx trim. Update: 7k miles later and I'm still loving this little crossover!

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your new 2023 HR-V! It sounds like Honda has made some great improvements since the 2020 model. The ride is smoother, the engine is more powerful, and the interior looks more upscale. The EX-L model also comes with some great safety features like parking sensors, low speed braking, and blind spot monitoring. I'm also happy to hear that you're enjoying the auto-dimming rearview mirror and the 8-speaker sound system. The power driver's seat is a nice touch too. Overall, it sounds like you made a great choice in upgrading to the 2023 HR-V. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!
-
You're going to love how comfortable the ride is in this sleek design! I'm excited to see how it handles in the snow!
-
I love everything about it! I went for the EX-L trim mainly because it has a moon roof, a bigger info screen, and wireless Apple Play. The HRV is so much fun to drive, and it has tons of safety features. Plus, it's the perfect size for me!

I purchased a HRV EXL in June 2022. Unfortunately, the rear window broke on January 10th when I closed the driver's door. Despite encountering backorder issues, I am confident that the issue will be resolved soon. While it has been frustrating not being able to drive my car, I am still satisfied with the quality of the vehicle.

In the morning, you may notice a noise coming from the center console, and when driving on rural roads, the plastic of the hatch may vibrate against the metal, creating a noise. Additionally, turning on the wipers may also cause a noise. These are common issues that can be easily addressed.
Seth Kris 2024-11-09
The car is experiencing some issues such as power loss, seat belts not retracting, driver's side window leaking air, and misalignment of the driver's side door with the body. These issues are likely due to poor build quality and lack of attention to detail during manufacturing.
Bobby Kozey 2024-10-29
I regret leasing this car as it does not meet my expectations. The uncomfortable seat, lack of trunk release from the inside, and manual lift are major drawbacks. Compared to my previous Acura, this car falls short. It is important to be aware of the uncomfortable seats when considering this car. Additionally, the car rocks easily when other vehicles pass by. However, I am confident that I will find a better car that meets my needs and preferences.
Elbert Champlin 2024-09-02
I recently purchased a 2023 HRV in Sport trim with AWD for my son who will be getting his license soon. The total cost, including tax and license, was around $33.5k. While it is a bit more expensive than my 2020 Accord EXL with the 2.0 Turbo and 10 speed AT, I understand that prices have gone up due to inflation. I can only imagine how much a 2023 Accord EXL would cost! The HRV is a basic car and lacks front grab handles for the driver and front passenger, which may take some getting used to. I was surprised to find that Homelink was not included in the car at this price point. However, the car drives well for a small SUV and the engine is smooth, although it is definitely underpowered compared to my Accord's 2-liter turbo. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase, even though $33k doesn't get you as much as it used to.
