Honda Hr-v problems

The Honda HR-V is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) manufactured and marketed by Honda over three generations.
The first generation HR-V was based on the Honda Logo. It was marketed from 1999 to 2006 in Europe, Japan and select Asia-Pacific markets – and featured three doors (1999–2003) or five doors (1999–2006). The two configurations were internally designated GH2 and GH4 respectively.
After a seven-year hiatus, Honda reintroduced the nameplate for the second generation HR-V, based on the third-generation Honda Fit. Production began in late 2013 for the Japanese domestic market as the Honda Vezel (Japanese: ホンダ・ヴェゼル, Hepburn: Honda Vezeru), while production started in 2015 for North America, Australia, Brazil and select Asian markets as the HR-V. Apart from Japan, the model is also sold as the Vezel in China.
For the third-generation model, the nameplate is split between two different vehicles, one for the global market (sold as the Vezel in Japan), and a larger model based on the eleventh-generation Civic destined for North America and China. The latter model is sold outside those markets as the Honda ZR-V.
According to Honda, the name "HR-V" stands for "Hi-rider Revolutionary Vehicle", while the name "Vezel" is coined from "bezel", the oblique faces of a cut gem, with the "V" for "vehicle".

Common Honda Hr-v problems
The Honda HR-V is a popular subcompact crossover SUV known for its lively handling, generous cargo space, good fuel economy, and wide range of useful features:
- Low-quality paint: This is the most common problem reported by Honda HR-V owners. In some instances, owners complained about the paint on the crossover SUV bubbling, while others reported that, after a few years of driving, large sections of paint would flake off the roof. Rust can also corrode the paint and bodywork, requiring repainting of the HR-V, which can cost thousands of dollars depending on the extent of the paint problem.
- Complications with the accelerator: There are two variations of this problem. The first one is when drivers lightly press on the throttle from a complete stop, and the crossover SUV suddenly leaps forward as if someone slammed on the gas pedal. The second issue occurs when driving at highway speeds, where the HR-V starts to slow down and continues to lose speed, even when applying more throttle. To address either of these accelerator complications, a mechanic must first conduct a diagnostic check to get to the root of the problem. The solution could be as simple as an electric control (ECU) update, which Honda might provide for free. However, at the opposite end of the repair spectrum, a part of the engine bay might need to be replaced, which can cost owners around a few hundred dollars.
- Loose or dislodged window gaskets: A window gasket is the rubber section at the window frame that forms a tight seal when the windows are rolled up to the top. It keeps rain, wind, and other weather elements out of the vehicle. However, HR-V drivers have complained about the window gaskets becoming loose or getting dislodged. Rectifying this issue typically requires replacing the window gaskets, which consist of four parts. All four cost around $100, along with the cost of labor if completed by a service center.
It is important to note that most HR-V models are not affected by these issues, and they don't necessarily affect all model years. However, they are the most frequently reported problems, so it is essential to be aware of them when considering the purchase of a Honda HR-V.
Does the Honda HR-V have any problems?
Like the previous model year, the 2019 Honda HR-V by itself is a reliable vehicle but has some problems that may affect your ownership experience. CarComplaints has documented 81 complaints and four recalls for the 2019 Honda HR-V. The prominent trouble spot of this SUV is its fuel propulsion system.
What is the weakness of the Honda HR-V?
The HR-V has a relatively roomy interior for its size, user-friendly controls, and 27 mpg overall fuel economy. But ride comfort and sound insulation are weak points. Handling is ordinary but ultimately secure. We found that the 158-hp, 2.0-liter engine and CVT feel underpowered.
What is the most reliable year of Honda HR-V?
What model years of the Honda HR-V are best? If you are looking for a pre-owned certified Honda HR-V, it's best to look for one that was made within the last five years. According to NHTSA statistics, model years 2020, 2021, and 2022 were the most reliable model years.
How many miles will a Honda HR-V last?
According to hotcars.com, the Honda HR-V will last 150,000-200,000 miles with solid care. The lifespan is partially dependent on random forces but dependent on how well you care for and drive the car on the road.

I drove the top of the line Touring model and was impressed with the excellent fit and finish. The handling was good, making it a great everyday driver. Additionally, it offers lots of cargo room and good visibility. However, there were a few things that could have been improved, such as the lack of power for a small SUV, the absence of rear seat vents, and the lack of a power tailgate. For the Touring model, Honda could have upgraded all of those features. In fact, those features should have been upgraded from the Sport and EX models. The mileage was good, but with the lack of power, it seems that it could have been better.

Congratulations on your new Honda HR-V EX AWD! I wanted to share some tips that might be helpful for anyone considering purchasing this car. When looking at dealer-installed options, be sure to check the price of labor and required installation kits on the Honda e-store to avoid any surprises. Additionally, you can save money by shopping around for OEM or third-party accessories on sites like eBay and Amazon. Installing items like a rear cargo tray or floor mats yourself can be a fun and easy DIY project. While the HR-V is a great choice for a second or third car for a small family or couple, I would recommend shopping around if you're considering it as your only car. It's important to note that some luxury features come standard on the HR-V, while some practical features are not included. For example, push button memory seats are not available, which can be inconvenient if multiple people are driving the car. Finally, keep in mind that major options are only available in packages, so you may end up paying for features you don't necessarily want. Overall, the HR-V is a fantastic car and I hope these tips are helpful for anyone considering purchasing one.I noticed that some reviewers have complained about the driver positioning in the HR-V, but I have found that with the tilt and telescope steering wheel, seat height, and backrest tilt adjustments, it is easy to find a comfortable driving position. As a tall person, I did have to make some adjustments, but once I did, I found the driver compartment to be quite comfortable. The only issue I have is that the front wheel well encroaches on both the driver and passenger seating areas, which can be slightly uncomfortable for those with long legs. However, I still find the HR-V to be a great vehicle overall. Some people have complained about the engine performance, but I think the power and torque are more than adequate, and the fuel economy is great. The AWD version is definitely worth considering, especially if you live in an area with heavy snowfall. While the transmission and power train noise can be a bit loud, the HondaLink system included in the EX is easy to use and provides all the features we need. Overall, we are very happy with our fun and versatile HR-V.The HR-V offers a lot of options for transporting cargo, thanks to its various configurations such as 'long mode' and magic seats in the 2nd row. We have found that it excels in almost everything, from practicality to economy, while maintaining a handsome appearance without too much glitz and gadgetry.

I purchased my HRV EX-L a month ago and overall, I love it! While it doesn't have power seats with lumbar support or a telescopic steering wheel, which I think is a mistake on Honda's part, there are many attractive features such as great speakers, climate control, and mirrors with blinkers. The leather seats are classy and well-made, but not as comfortable due to the lack of adjustments with power seats. As a NYC resident, the on-street parking is great and this compact SUV fits into the smallest parking spots. Using Tier 1 gasoline as recommended by Honda definitely helps acceleration. I am 5'7

Hey there! I used to drive a 2013 Subaru Impreza hatchback, but I recently switched to the Honda HR-V and I'm loving it! I was looking for a small AWD vehicle with good mileage and enough space to carry my equine equipment, and the CR-V, RAV-4, and Ford Escape were all too big for my needs. The HR-V is almost perfect for me - the back seats fold completely flat and the seat cushions fold up for added flexibility. The ride is super comfortable, even on country roads, and the heated seats are a great bonus. The phone/navigation/sound controls are easy to use, although they do require me to take my eyes off the road. The sound system is definitely a step up from my old Subaru, and the push-button start is a nice touch. I also find the right turn camera really helpful for lane changes and turns. The all-weather mats that came with the car are a necessity for me, but I do wish there was carpeting underneath them for easier cleaning. Overall, I'm really happy with my choice and would definitely recommend the HR-V to anyone looking for a smaller SUV with great features! My car did not come with a trunk cover and I don't see a place to attach one. Not sure if one is available. My dealer does all maintenance for two years, which is great for my three-year lease. Some reviewers mentioned rattles - none on my car. So far, I am very happy with my purchase. I drove it during a very harsh winter and it handled well in the snow and rain.

I purchased the new 2019 Honda HR-V Sport AWD a couple of months ago, but unfortunately, it hasn't met my expectations. While it does have some positive aspects such as great gas mileage and good handling in the snow, there are several downsides that I find difficult to overlook. For instance, the car is quite slow, which can be dangerous when merging onto the highway, especially on short merging ramps uphill. Additionally, I can feel every bump in the road through the seat, pedals, and steering wheel, which can be quite uncomfortable. The sport model also lacks automatic headlights, glove box lights, and lights in the cargo area, making it difficult to find things at night. Furthermore, the car required a software update at only 5,000 miles to lessen engine vibrations, which was unexpected. Although the car looks visually better than many of its competitors, I find that the cons outweigh the pros. For reference, I have previously owned a 98 Ford Contour, a similar aged Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, and a 05 Lexus RX, and I had no complaints about any of those cars. Overall, I regret this purchase.

I purchased my 2018 Honda HR-V brand new with only 4 miles on it in December. Unfortunately, I have had to take it to the shop three times since then. The first time, while driving at around 50 MPH, I tried to roll down the front passenger window and it suddenly fell inside the car, causing it to break/crack. The dealership kept the car for 5 days to fix the window regulator, but when I got it back, the door/window sounded terrible. I took it back and they discovered that the window needed to be replaced and the run channel in my door was broken, along with the regulator again. They kept the vehicle for another 7 days. Six months later, I noticed that my front passenger door was rattling and the window was wobbling when I tried to roll it down. I took it back to the dealership and it has now been in the shop for 2 days for another regulator break, broken door panel clips and loose speaker boundary brackets. Although I had heard that Honda is one of the most reliable vehicle brands, my experience has not been up to standards. I would advise caution when considering purchasing this model.

The gas pedal vibration and uncomfortable braking are issues that need to be addressed. The vehicle's gas mileage is lower than the EPA estimates suggest, even when driving in a fuel-conscious manner. Additionally, the LCD on the instrument cluster is outdated and cluttered, and the cupholders are over-engineered and not very functional. The Econ button does not seem to have any effect on fuel efficiency. Finally, the black interior lacks contrast and can feel overwhelming. These are all areas that can be improved upon to enhance the overall driving experience.

I recently owned a Honda HR-V EX for 3 months and unfortunately, I was disappointed with many aspects of the vehicle. I found that the car had a lot of creaks and rattles, which I felt was not acceptable for a new car. The overall quality of the car was not up to the standard that I would have expected from Honda. The worst part of my experience was when the transmission failed at just 1,070 miles. Although Honda did warranty the work, I ultimately decided to sell the car and purchase a Toyota Camry instead. I have found that the Camry is of much better quality.

I thought the HRV would be similar to the CRV, but it turned out to be different. I'm used to having power seats, power lift gates, and other features.
