2014 Gmc Yukon problems

The Chevrolet Tahoe, and its badge-engineered GMC Yukon counterpart, are full-size SUVs and other trucks from General Motors, offered since 1994 and 1991, respectively. Since 1982, Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their "Blazer" and "Jimmy" nameplates, by introducing the smaller S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy for the 1983 model year, below the full-size Blazer and Jimmy models. This situation lasted into the early 1990s. GMC first rebadged the full-size Jimmy as the "Yukon" in 1991. Chevrolet however waited until 1994, when they rebadged the redesigned mid-size S-10 Blazer the "new Blazer," while renaming the full-size Blazer as the "Tahoe." The name Tahoe refers to the rugged and scenic area surrounding Lake Tahoe in the western United States, and was originally used as a trim level on S-10 models. The name Yukon refers to the Yukon territory of northern Canada.

For the 1995 model year, the Tahoe and Yukon gained a new, longer four-door model, slotting in size between the two-door models and the longer-wheelbase Chevrolet/GMC Suburbans.

The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Philippines, and the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand-drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.

The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are part of General Motors' full-size SUV family and are differentiated from the similar Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL primarily by the length of the passenger and cargo area behind the C-pillar. An upscale trim GMC Denali sub-model joined the Yukon lineup as the top-of-the-line trim for the 1999 model year; the Cadillac Escalade is a closely related upscale version sharing the same platform. The Denali is available on both standard and XL versions.

The Tahoe has regularly been the best-selling full-size SUV in the United States, frequently outselling its competition by two to one.

Common 2014 Gmc Yukon problems

The GMC Yukon, a full-sized SUV, is known for its blend of functionality and luxury. However, it is not without its common problems, particularly in the 2015 model year.

One of the most frequently reported issues with the GMC Yukon is tailgate light malfunctions. This problem is most prevalent in the 2015 model year, with many owners reporting moisture build-up on the lens or complete failure of the light. This issue is more than just a cosmetic concern, as it can impact the vehicle's safety and legality for night driving. Replacing the entire fixture is necessary to correct this problem, which can be expensive.

Another common problem with the GMC Yukon is excessive oil consumption, particularly in the 2015 model year. This issue is not as severe as a typical oil leak but can still lead to increased maintenance costs. Sealing the engine does not solve this problem, and it can worsen over time. The best solution is to regularly check the oil level and carry the appropriate weight oil.

The 2015 Yukon also has issues with the air conditioning system, with many owners reporting failure of the A/C. The repair cost for this problem is relatively high, around $1,000 on average. The type of failure can impact the repair cost, with some repairs being more expensive than others.

In addition to these problems, the 2015 Yukon has issues with the dashboard, with many owners reporting loud noises from the dashboard due to loose parts. The electronic accessories in Yukons of the same model year may also act up, with many owners expressing frustration with the climate control panel, console phone, front camera, and USB charging ports refusing to work.

While the 2015 model year receives the most complaints, other model years of the GMC Yukon have their own set of common problems. For example, the 2010, 2011, and 2013 model years have issues with the dashboard, which can fracture and become eyesores that drive down the SUV's resale value.

In summary, the GMC Yukon, particularly the 2015 model year, has several common problems that can impact the vehicle's safety, functionality, and maintenance costs. These issues include tailgate light malfunctions, excessive oil consumption, air conditioning failure, and dashboard problems. While these problems can be frustrating for owners, regular maintenance and checks can help mitigate their impact.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-12-23
  • VIN: 1GKS2EEF2ER
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE
  • Summary: While driving, the vehicle display screen and lights start turning off and on. The warning lamp says " service trailer brake system" and the vehicle is unable to accelerate at all. Leaving me at a stand still in the middle of the road. It's a safely hazard because it happens suddenly and without warning and I am unable to move my vehicle so I'm just in the middle of the road. I haven't taken it in to the dealership yet. I looked online and there is a recall called " chassis electronic control module internal contamination" that meets the description of what's going on here, but when I called GMC they said there is no recall for my specific Vin, even though the recall is for my make model and year.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-06-01
  • VIN: 1GKS2EEF4ER
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: I have a crack dash right in the middle just below the mirror. I took it to gmc dealer in Tyler Texas about a year ago. I asked if they had any recalls on this problem. I bought this 2014 Yukon Denali in Illinois with 40,000 miles garage kept one owner. I also always parked Yukon in my 3 car garage. I wonder if there is a safety issure knowing the dash is cracked and moves when you hit a bump? Iam retired at age 63 and never had a dash crack on all vehicles I have owned. This 2014 Yukon Denali with 80,000 miles, garage kept should have never crack. My name is Fred Deven, phone #219-242-5923.

SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-10-20
  • Number Of Injuries: 2
  • Crash: 1
  • VIN: 1GKS1CE00ER
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
  • Summary: State Farm is investigating the accident to see what, if anything, malfunctioned in my braking system. I ran a red light but when I pressed the brake upon approach of the red light my brakes didn't catch and so when I pressed them, I kept going at the same speed. I was going between 30 and 40 miles per hour I believe. Three cars were involved. I have a sore neck, chest, and burn marks in my neck region. I suspect my truck will be totalled. We performed routine maintenance on the vehicle. It had a little over 100K miles on it at the time of this wreck. There is not a recall on braking for 2014 models, but I see there is one for 2015.

STRUCTURE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-06-01
  • VIN: 1GKS2EEF8ER
  • Components: STRUCTURE
  • Summary: Purchased new 2014 Yukon Denali in February 2015. Currently have 66,000 miles. September 2022: professional repair of the dashboard performed. Separation began June 2022. Separation of dash became larger, 2" to be exact, then the cracks appeared. Then it became noisy with rattling. According to the repair shop this is a common occurrence in some GM vehicles. GMC does not acknowledge this as a recall. February 5, 2021, our passenger side airbag was replaced by a certified GM/Chevrolet Dealership due to recall. Apparently, removal and replacement of airbag can weaken the dashboard. This is an issue I will advise GM of, whether or not it will make any difference.

AIR BAGS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-03-18
  • Number Of Injuries: 1
  • Crash: 1
  • Fire: 1
  • VIN: 1GKS1EEF8ER
  • Components: AIR BAGS
  • Summary: I have an outstanding recall on my 2014 Yukon. This recall is several years old. As far as I can tell nothing has been done on this recall. This is a safety recall! Previously I owned a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban with the same recall on it. I was told that no parts were available for the repair. I repeat this is a SAFETY recall!!! We had a wreck in the 2008 chevrolet suburban which deployed the airbags. Lucky for us the airbag worked properly. My wife was setting in the front passenger seat. If the igniter had exploded she would have been seriously injured or killed. We bought this Yukon from Carmax. The car came to us from Alabama. Hot and high humidity. As I understand it these are the conditions that make the igniter more likely to explode. Please do something on this recall.
