2018 Gmc Yukon problems
The Chevrolet Tahoe, and its badge-engineered GMC Yukon counterpart, are full-size SUVs and other trucks from General Motors, offered since 1994 and 1991, respectively. Since 1982, Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their "Blazer" and "Jimmy" nameplates, by introducing the smaller S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy for the 1983 model year, below the full-size Blazer and Jimmy models. This situation lasted into the early 1990s. GMC first rebadged the full-size Jimmy as the "Yukon" in 1991. Chevrolet however waited until 1994, when they rebadged the redesigned mid-size S-10 Blazer the "new Blazer," while renaming the full-size Blazer as the "Tahoe." The name Tahoe refers to the rugged and scenic area surrounding Lake Tahoe in the western United States, and was originally used as a trim level on S-10 models. The name Yukon refers to the Yukon territory of northern Canada.
For the 1995 model year, the Tahoe and Yukon gained a new, longer four-door model, slotting in size between the two-door models and the longer-wheelbase Chevrolet/GMC Suburbans.
The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Philippines, and the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand-drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.
The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are part of General Motors' full-size SUV family and are differentiated from the similar Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL primarily by the length of the passenger and cargo area behind the C-pillar. An upscale trim GMC Denali sub-model joined the Yukon lineup as the top-of-the-line trim for the 1999 model year; the Cadillac Escalade is a closely related upscale version sharing the same platform. The Denali is available on both standard and XL versions.
The Tahoe has regularly been the best-selling full-size SUV in the United States, frequently outselling its competition by two to one.

Common 2018 Gmc Yukon problems
Based on the complaints from owners of the 2018 GMC Yukon, several common problems have been reported:
- Electric Running Boards Failing: One of the most widespread complaints involves the electric running boards failing at around 60,000 miles. The motors that extend the running boards tend to wear out due to frequent use, leading to replacement costs of around $1,800. Some owners opt to disconnect them instead of repairing.
- A/C System Not Working: Another common issue reported is the A/C system not functioning correctly at approximately 50,000 miles. This problem is often caused by a cracked A/C condenser, resulting in a loss of cooling capacity. Replacing the condenser can cost around $1,300.
- Excessive Paint Fade: Excessive paint fade has been noted within the first 55,000 miles of some 2018 Yukon models. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the paint to break down and fade. Repairing this issue involves repainting the affected areas, with an estimated cost of around $1,000 per panel.
- Brake System Recalls: The 2018 GMC Yukon has three recalls related to the brake system, a common issue among many SUVs. These recalls cover the brake software and vacuum pump, with GMC offering free replacements and software updates for affected models.
- Distributor Cap Replacement: As the 2018 GMC Yukon reaches 100,000 miles, owners may need to replace the distributor cap for $150, the ignition control module for $300, and the wheel hub assembly for $550, depending on the vehicle's history.
These problems highlight some of the key issues that owners of the 2018 GMC Yukon have faced, ranging from mechanical failures to cosmetic concerns. Regular maintenance and prompt repairs can help mitigate these issues and ensure the longevity and reliability of the vehicle.

Attached are GM bulletins on the 2014 and 2015 models. As one can see they have provided special coverage on the 2014 models to 5 years or 100000 miles for this problem.(Bulletin 15829) This is not true of the 2015 through 2018 like mine. Although they use similar verbiage in the bulletin P11513A and P11513F. It should be noted that Bulletin P11513A and F also applies to 2015 Cadillac Escalade Models, 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, 2015 GMC Sierra Denali, Yukon Models, Yukon Denali Models Equipped with 4.3L, 5.3L or 6.2L Engine (RPOs LV1, LV3, L83 or L86). ***Basically this is a safety hazard because when traveling highway speeds it puts car into reduced power mode and you can only drive very slow on highway or be stranded on side which is just as dangerous ***

TODAY 3/22/21 I CALLED GMC TO DO A COMPLAINT AND ASK IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE ON THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE SINCE I DON'T HAVE ANY WARRANTY ANYMORE ON THE VEHICLE DUE TO PASSING THE 36 MONTHS BY 1 MONTH BUT NOT BY MILEAGE SINCE I HAVE 28500 MILES ON IT. I WAS TOLD BY THE GMC REPRESENTATIVE THAT AT THIS TIME GMC DOES NOT HAVE ANY RECALLS FOR THIS VIN NUMBER. AFTER DOING MUCH RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY RECURRING PROBLEM WITH GMC, CHEVROLET AND BUICK VEHICLES. ON THE PAST THEY HAVE DONE RECALLS FOR THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM BUT THE LOVELY AUTOMAKERS AND LOBBYIST ARE FINDING THE LOOP HOLES SO THEY ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR KNOWN MISTAKES UNTIL SOME FAMILY TRAGICALLY DIES IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO AUTOMAKER NOT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR KNOWN ISSUES. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE, TOOOOO MANY CUSTOMERS HAVING THIS ISSUE AND NO ACCOUNTABILITY ON AUTOMAKERS BEHALF.
2018 Gmc Yukon recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 3 recalls for different components of the 2018 Gmc Yukon.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:VACUUM
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2018 Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500 and Yukon vehicles equipped with either a 5.3L or 6.2L V8 engine. The output of the mechanical vacuum pump can decrease over time, decreasing the amount of vacuum/power brake assist.
- Consequence: A decrease in brake assist can increase the brake pedal effort and distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began November 11, 2020. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-866-522-9559, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438. GM's number for this recall is N202300860.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:WHEEL SPEED SENSOR
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.
- Consequence: Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

- Consequence: As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192268490.
