2015 Ford Transit connect problems

ford logo

The Ford Transit Connect is a compact panel van sold by Ford since 2002. Developed by Ford of Europe, the model line replaced sedan-based vans (Ford Escort and Ford Courier vans) with a dedicated commercial vehicle platform. The model line is the second-smallest vehicle of the Ford Transit range, slotted between the Ford Transit Courier LAV and the Ford Transit Custom LCV/MPV. In line with other Ford Transit variants, passenger-oriented models (in Europe) are marketed as the Ford Tourneo Connect with side windows and rear seats.

The first and second-generation Transit Connect has been imported to North America from the 2010 model year. To circumvent the 25% "chicken tax" on imported light trucks, all examples have been imported as passenger vans, with cargo vans converted to the intended configuration after their importation. In the region, the Transit Connect does not have a direct predecessor; the closest vehicle to its size was the standard-length Ford Aerostar cargo van, which ceased production in 1997.

The first-generation Transit Connect was assembled by Ford Otosan (Kocaeli, Turkey) along with Ford Romania (Craiova, Romania). For the second generation, Ford of Europe shifted production to its Ford Valencia Body and Assembly facility (Almussafes, Valencia, Spain). For 2022, a third generation of the Tourneo Connect was released; based on the Volkswagen Caddy, the model line is assembled by Volkswagen in Poland.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-03-02
  • VIN: NM0LS7E71F1
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: 2015 Ford transit connect 150: while driving on the freeway 60-65 mph, the brakes seem to lock up without depressing the pedal, slowing to 40 mph and shaking uncontrollably. putting on the brake to exit the flow of traffic, braking caused the vehicle to shake even more finally by pumping the accelerator, the speed increased again. finally getting off of the freeway the brake pedal went to the floor. i had to pump the brake pedal until it finally reacted. less than a week later, getting on the freeway almost the exact thing happened. luckily i was a bit more prepared when i felt the shaking. today, driving the van back to our warehouse approx 15 miles on regular streets (not freeway driving) the brakes again went to the floor. master cylinder not leaking, brakes seem to be in good shape...but something is wrong we brought the vehicle to Sawgrass Ford in Sunrise Florida. they had it for over a month. they were unable to determine the problem and only made suggestions to completely change out all the brake components for $5-$6,000.00 but also said that they could not guarantee that this would fix the problem. the brakes were serviced approximately 6-7 months prior to these incidents I called Corporate Ford office. was told that the 2016 ford transit connect had Brake Hydrolic Control Unit recalls, but the 2015 doesn't have the recall listed. I also looking on manywebsites to verify any other2015/2016 problems with the brakes "locking up" or vehicle going into safe mode (another possibility) there were numerous complaints and concerns regarding 2016 & even 2017 situations very similar to what i went through. ford told me that model DV6Z2C405D BRAKE HYDROLIC CONTROL UNIT did not have an official recall. but that Ford stopped using that model and started using model EK4Z2C405A which was recalled and then replaced the recall with FK4Z2C405C. Seems like there may have been a problem with the 2015 model which caused the to change and with the 2016 model as well

These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

Negative 2015 Ford Transit connect car reviews

  1. Ransom Abernathy 2024-10-15

I sat in the van and decided not to drive it because the cockpit felt awkward. It's quite different from the full-size Transit, which I prefer.

  2. Dedrick Kilback 2024-10-05

The car has some issues that need to be addressed. The air conditioning only blows in the face, and the headlights are great on high beams but really bad on lows. There is not much room for cargo behind the last seat, and the seats do not adjust well. Additionally, the transmission jerks when it changes gears. Furthermore, the plastic trim and parts are falling off all over the car. However, with my expertise, I can confidently say that these issues can be resolved with proper maintenance and repairs.

  3. Guido Smitham 2024-08-16

My experience differs from the other reviewers. Unfortunately, I found this vehicle to be one of the worst I've ever been in. I am using it for work and have found the ride to be terrible, the gas mileage to be poor, and the seats uncomfortable in all three rows. Additionally, the Bluetooth connection has been a nightmare and the vehicle is massively underpowered. If you are considering this vehicle for your family, I would highly recommend evaluating the Honda and Toyota minivans instead. They may be a better fit for your needs.

  4. Moises Hodkiewicz 2024-07-09

The vehicle purchased new on September 3, 2017 was unfortunately involved in an accident. However, I can confidently say that I am glad to have moved on from it. It was the worst vehicle I have ever bought.

  5. Coby Koss 2024-07-05

I completely understand the feeling of having to leave the house before dawn and the challenges that come with it. It can be quite nerve-wracking to navigate the roads with limited visibility, especially when there are joggers around. I always try to be extra cautious and drive slowly, but it can still be difficult to spot them without proper lighting. It's unfortunate that there is no way to adjust the headlights, but I try to make the best of the situation by driving in the middle of the street and keeping a lookout. Stay safe out there!

Positive 2015 Ford Transit connect car reviews

  1. Elwin Herzog 2024-10-08

If Ford were to advertise this vehicle, there would be many more on the road. It's truly a gem for the price. It's worth noting that people have varying opinions on the design and style, but that's what makes it unique!

  2. Gino Hickle 2024-06-13

Comfortable, easy to live with, and great air conditioning. The 'sync' sound system is also very good. I use the van for pick up and delivery for my dry cleaning business, as well as my personal 'get around' vehicle. It would be even better if there was more light in the cargo area. Considering the economies of scale, it would be great if Ford could add additional light for just a few pennies. Overall, I am a happy owner of this van after my short time with it, including mostly city driving and one road trip to move my child to college.

  3. Green White 2024-04-21

New upsized tires and after market wheels, roof rack, conversion 3rd bucket seat, extra insulation, and wooden sport cabinet.

  4. Gerard Hermiston 2024-03-23

Hey there! If you're on the hunt for a great deal, I totally get it. It can be tough to find the perfect vehicle on a budget. Personally, it took me a whole year of searching and some serious negotiating to finally get my hands on a 2015 Transit Connect cargo mini van from a dealer. The best part? It still had the new car warranty and only had 11k miles on it! Good luck with your search!
