The Chevrolet Spark (Korean: 쉐보레 스파크) is a city car manufactured by General Motors's subsidiary GM Korea from 1998 to 2022. The vehicle was developed by Daewoo and introduced in 1998 as the Daewoo Matiz (Korean: 대우 마티즈). In 2002, General Motors purchased Daewoo Motors, which was marketing the vehicle with several GM marques and nameplates.
The third generation was predominantly marketed under the Chevrolet brand in North America as the Chevrolet Spark and in Australia and New Zealand as the Holden Barina Spark. The fourth generation was launched in 2015, known as the Holden Spark in Australia and New Zealand. It also serves as the basis for the Opel Karl in Europe, Vauxhall Viva in the UK, and VinFast Fadil in Vietnam, the latter being manufactured under license.
A limited-production all-electric version, the Chevrolet Spark EV, was released in the U.S. in selected markets in California and Oregon in June 2013. The Spark EV was the first all-electric passenger car marketed by General Motors since the EV1 was discontinued in 1999, and also the first offered for retail sale by GM (the EV1 was available only on lease).
In the South Korean market, the Spark complies with South Korean "light car" (Korean: 경차, romanized: Gyeongcha) regulations, which regulate overall vehicle dimensions and engine capacity with tax and parking fee benefits.
Production of the Spark at the Changwon, South Korea assembly plant ended in 2022. The plant would instead produce the second-generation Trax.

- Summary: Friday morning, on June 16th I went out to start my car and I noticed an I code 95 on my dashboard. It also showed my ABS light, traction light, and airbag/seatbelt light. When I researched the I code 95 it said that my car had been in an accident and the airbag and seatbelt needs to be replaced. When I came home the previous night on June 15th there were no lights showing on my dashboard and I hadn't been in an accident. I also had pulled into my designated parking spot with my front tires facing the curb. When I checked my car I noticed no dents or scratches on my car. I then went to Bob Hook Chevrolet which is the dealership where I purchased my car, and they ran a quick diagnostic with one of those sensors that you plug into your car. Upon review, the technician said there was probably an error in the sensor, and that the results showed that my passenger side sensor was malfunctioning for the airbag and the sensor on the right front bumper was causing my ABS and traction light to come on. The technician tried to reset the lights but they immediately came back on. He said he wasn't sure why the lights came back on considering that I hadn't been in an accident. This jeopardizes my safety and my passenger's safety. If I did get in a car accident my passenger would be unprotected because the airbag doesn't work. I would also be unprotected if my wheel decide to lock up during an accident. This could cause me to skid off the road. Also, it is summertime so it rains at least once every two weeks. My car is already small so I have less friction and gravity to help keep all fours wheel grounded. Anytime it rains I'm scared that my car may start to skid because the traction system isn't working. And again if the traction isn't working and I do start to skid my ABS cant help me because the sensor is malfunctioning. I get regular oil changes and do winter and summer maintenance inspections. They never noticed anything wrong with my car. There we no warning signs.

- Consequence: If the air bags do not deploy in the event of a crash, it can increase the risk of injury.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the SDM module to the correct mode, free of charge. The recall began November 6, 2018. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 and Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 18365.

When my previous car started having transmission issues and I was driving multiple miles a week, I couldn't risk having something go wrong. I searched for a place to possibly fix it, but then I realized it would just be easier to get a brand new car. After some searching, I landed on this Spark. Needless to say, after four hours of work from the dealership, I had a brand new Spark with only 9 miles on it. Although there are a few things I miss from my old car, this is definitely an upgrade. It's been over a year since I got the car, and it's still running awesomely. I want to keep it for as long as possible. However, since the Spark is too small for my rural route job at USPS, I had to get another car. I'm thinking of trading it soon for an SUV or a minivan. I really miss this car, and I'm now wanting to get another Chevy Spark and be rid of the van because I won't need it anymore.

I'm so glad to hear that you love your 2019 Spark! It's great to know that you're getting such good gas mileage, even when driving mostly in town. And it's even better to hear that it's comfortable and drives well on road trips. I can definitely understand how it might be a bit tricky to find your car in a crowded parking lot, but it sounds like a small price to pay for such a great vehicle!

I bought this car for work and I drive 50 miles each way. The gas mileage is around 40 miles per gallon, which is great. The entertainment controls are awesome, and Apple Car Play is very interactive and easy to use. The graphics are clear and crisp. Although it could use more leg room and an armrest in the center console, I am very happy with my lil Sparky! :)

Hey there! I noticed that you mentioned your car is averaging 31mpg as a commuter, which is great! However, I also noticed that your gas tank is quite small at only 9 gallons, which means you can only go less than 300 miles on a full tank. That must be tough, especially since you have a 70 mile commute. I hope you're not running on fumes too often!

Suspension could be improved, but overall this is a great little car that is excellent on gas.

I recently purchased the Spark LS after my old car stopped working. The Spark was a great deal for a new car. Although I regret not getting the electric door locks, I have found that the small gas tank and high gas mileage have been a nice surprise. I only need to fill up once a week for around $15, which is a significant improvement from my old car that cost over $30 a week to fill up. While there are some issues with the CVT engine, such as stalling for a few seconds if you don't come to a complete stop, I have found that adjusting my driving habits has helped me avoid this problem. Additionally, the road noise on some old paved roads can be a bit bothersome, but it's not a major issue for me. Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase and plan to keep the car for a few years until it's paid off. After that, I may consider switching to a non-CVT engine car.

The Chevrolet Spark is a perfect vehicle for your daily commute. It will get you from point A to B with ease. Although the little 1.4L engine has enough power to cruise around, the CVT transmission can be problematic. However, it's great on gas mileage!
