2011 Ford Mustang problems
The Ford Mustang is a series of American automobiles manufactured by Ford. In continuous production since 1964, the Mustang is currently the longest-produced Ford car nameplate. Currently in its seventh generation, it is the fifth-best selling Ford car nameplate. The namesake of the "pony car" automobile segment, the Mustang was developed as a highly styled line of sporty coupes and convertibles derived from existing model lines, initially distinguished by "long hood, short deck" proportions.
Originally predicted to sell 100,000 vehicles yearly, the 1965 Mustang became the most successful vehicle launch since the 1927 Model A. Introduced on April 17, 1964 (16 days after the Plymouth Barracuda), over 400,000 units were sold in its first year; the one-millionth Mustang was sold within two years of its launch. In August 2018, Ford produced the 10-millionth Mustang; matching the first 1965 Mustang, the vehicle was a 2019 Wimbledon White convertible with a V8 engine.
The success of the Mustang launch led to multiple competitors from other American manufacturers, including the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird (1967), AMC Javelin (1968), and Dodge Challenger (1970). It also competed with the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched around the same time. The Mustang also had an effect on designs of coupes worldwide, leading to the marketing of the Toyota Celica and Ford Capri in the United States (the latter, by Lincoln-Mercury). The Mercury Cougar was launched in 1967 as a unique-bodied higher-trim alternative to the Mustang; during the 1970s, it included more features and was marketed as a personal luxury car.
From 1965 until 2004, the Mustang shared chassis commonality with other Ford model lines, staying rear-wheel-drive throughout its production. From 1965 to 1973, the Mustang was derived from the 1960 Ford Falcon compact. From 1974 until 1978, the Mustang (denoted Mustang II) was a longer-wheelbase version of the Ford Pinto. From 1979 until 2004, the Mustang shared its Fox platform chassis with 14 other Ford vehicles (becoming the final one to use the Fox architecture). Since 2005, Ford has produced two generations of the Mustang, each using a distinct platform unique to the model line.
Through its production, multiple nameplates have been associated with the Ford Mustang series, including GT, Mach 1, Boss 302/429, Cobra (separate from Shelby Cobra), and Bullitt, along with "5.0" fender badging (denoting 4.9 L OHV or 5.0 L DOHC V8 engines).

Common 2011 Ford Mustang problems
The 2011 Ford Mustang is known for several common problems that owners have reported. One of the most prevalent issues is damaged pistons and blown engines, which have been reported on some models within the first 35,000 miles. Another common problem with the 2011 Ford Mustang is clutch wear and failure, which has been reported on some models at around 25,000 miles. This issue is more likely to occur in models with higher power V8 engines, and it can also be caused by driver error. Replacing the clutch is about $1,200, but it is also a maintenance item.
Widespread owner complaints about corrosion on the hood have also been reported on the 2011 Ford Mustang. This issue requires repainting the hood to solve the problem, which costs $1,000 to $1,250, depending on local labor rates.

- Summary: 2011 FORD MUSTANG 3.7L V6 CONVERTIBLE, PREMIUM, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION THROTTLE BODY FAILURE (PART # AT4Z-9E926-B) WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR SUDDENLY DECELERATES, THE DASHBOARD 'WRENCH LIGHT' COMES ON, THE FRONT END OF THE CAR RUMBLES AND SHAKES, AND THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE, FORCING ME TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THIS HAPPENS AT MODERATE SPEED ON LOCAL ROADS AND AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IF I PULL OFF THE ROAD, TURN THE CAR OFF, WAIT A FEW MINUTES, AND THEN RESTART, IT USUALLY RUNS NORMALLY. ON ONE OCCASION, IT DID NOT. IT DECELERATED AND THEN STALLED COMPLETELY IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOUR WAY INTERSECTION WHILE I WAS ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP AFTER BEING TOLD THERE 'WAS NO CODE,' SO THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. I COASTED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, PULLED OVER, TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN RESTARTED IT, AFTER WHICH IT RAN FOR ABOUT A MINUTE, SHOOK VIOLENTLY, AND THEN STALLED. EVERY INDICATOR ON THE DASHBOARD WAS ILLUMINATED. IT SEEMED AS IF THE CAR WAS CHOKING. I REPEATED THIS OVER AND OVER, CREEPING DOWN THE SHOULDER, BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. IN MY CASE, THIS PART HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS, MOST RECENTLY ON OCT 29, 2019. ACCORDING TO MY SERVICE RECORDS, PART # AT4Z-9E926-B WAS USED FOR EACH REPLACEMENT. APPARENTLY, FORD REPLACES A DEFECTIVE PART WITH ANOTHER DEFECTIVE PART. THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH A DIFFERENT OR IMPROVED PART THAT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL. 2015: CODE P2135, REPLACED THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY 2016: SENT AWAY FROM DEALERSHIP, NO FAULT CODES, UNABLE TO VERIFY 2016: RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP SHORTLY AFTER I WAS SENT AWAY; CODE P0315, REPLACED THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY 2016: CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 16B23, REIMBURSED FOR THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT 2019: NO FAULT CODE NOTED ON SERVICE PAPERWORK, REPLACED THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY

I've owned this car for 5 years and 1 month, and for the first 5 years, it provided me with perfect service. However, at 5 years and 1 month, the traction control came on by itself on a clear, dry, straight stretch of road, which made steering very hard and could be dangerous if someone was following closely. The Ford dealership suggested a steering box replacement, but I knew that wasn't the issue. After conducting extensive research, I discovered that this is a common problem that Ford has yet to address. I've taken it to other places, and they've suggested that it could be a sensor or any number of things. Despite this issue, I still really enjoy the car and have decided to keep it for a while longer to see if it happens again. With only 52,000 miles, I don't think it should be giving me any problems. Overall, it's been a great car!

Hello! We are a couple in our 50s and we have been absolutely delighted with our car for the past 7 months. We have previously owned Japanese vehicles, but this time we wanted to try an American car that was not as practical as an SUV or basic sedan. We were blown away by the power and handling of this car, and the acceleration is incredibly smooth. We were pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the car, which exceeded our expectations from the test drive. We were also thrilled to discover that the gas mileage was between 29-32 mpg on the highway. We particularly love the manual 6-speed transmission, which we find much more fun than the automatic we rented for a week. Although the automatic was good, it did not shift exactly when needed. So far, we have had no problems with our car and we are very happy with our choice.

I've been living in the US for 8 years now and I've always been a fan of European sports cars. At first, I was hesitant to try out the Mustang because I thought it might not have the same handling, fun, and feel that I'm used to. However, I decided to give it a chance and purchased a race red Mustang with the American Mustang Club package, which looks absolutely striking, especially with the silver grey alloys. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy driving it. In fact, the skidpad performance was the best I've ever experienced. It's a car that can cruise in style and be thrown around with confidence. Plus, with its great pricing, it's hard to beat!

I recently bought the GT convertible after looking at the Camaro and Challenger. I immediately fell in love with it, but decided to add some stealth performance. I had the Ford Racing supercharger installed along with Magnaflow exhaust to give it a little more rumble. Now it has over 600 horsepower and it's incredibly fast. It's even a Corvette killer! The Camaro and Challenger don't even come close!

I've had the 5.0 for about 6 months now and I must say, I'm thoroughly impressed! The performance is top-notch, from the manual, engine, brakes, to the handling, everything comes together seamlessly. I also appreciate the overall comfort of the car, it's quiet on the highway and the seating is great. Most professional reviews cover both the good and bad aspects of this car. Currently, I'm averaging about 19.5 mpg with the 3.55.

I special ordered this car through Warnock (now Beyer) Ford in Morristown, NJ. Although it looked cool and performed well, it was a profound disappointment. At delivery, the doors were loose and rattled. Unfortunately, Warnock refused to make any effort to fix it. The engine also rattled from 2500 rpm up when cold. Despite Warnock denying it, I insisted on leaving it overnight so a mechanic and I could start and run it cold. Finally, they heard it and admitted it in writing, but still refused to do anything. They said it was up to Ford, but unfortunately, Ford blew me off. I drove the car for 117,000 miles in 8 years, carefully breaking it in, leading an easy life, and giving it assiduous maintenance. As time went by, the engine rattle became persistent, the car loosened in every possible way, upkeep costs increasingly rose, and I had to dump it. The shame is that for a bit more, Ford could have built a car that lived up to its promises. I'm a life-long sports car guy with substantial racing experience. Until the Mustang, I drove European and Japanese performance cars, and the contrast was stark. I would never buy another Ford and would discourage anyone considering doing so.
