The Ford Fusion Hybrid is a gasoline-electric hybrid powered version of the mid-sized Ford Fusion sedan manufactured and marketed by Ford, now in its second generation. A plug-in hybrid version, the Ford Fusion Energi, was released in the U.S. in February 2013.

The first generation was launched to the U.S. market in March 2009 for model year 2010, together with its badge-engineered variants, the Mercury Milan Hybrid and the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. The second generation was launched under the Ford and Lincoln brands for model year 2013, went on sale in the U.S. in October 2012.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rated the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid at 39 mpg‑US (6.0 L/100 km; 47 mpg‑imp) combined city/highway. The second generation hybrid improved the fuel economy rating to 42 mpg‑US (5.6 L/100 km; 50 mpg‑imp) for combined city/highway driving. The EPA rated the Energi's combined city/highway fuel economy in all-electric mode at 88 miles per gallon gasoline equivalent (MPG-e) (2.7 L gasoline equivalent/100 km; 106 mpg-imp). In hybrid operation (charge-sustaining mode), the Energi has a combined fuel economy of 38 mpg‑US (6.2 L/100 km; 46 mpg‑imp).

The Fusion Hybrid has won the 2010 North American Car of the Year Award, and the entire 2013 Ford Fusion line-up, including the Fusion hybrid and plug-in variants, won the 2013 Green Car of the Year. As of December 2016, over 285,000 units of the Fusion hybrid family have been sold in the United States since 2009, including the plug-in hybrid variant. As of December 2016, sales of the Fusion Energi totaled 43,327 units delivered in its main market, the U.S.

I have been using this car as a company fleet vehicle and unfortunately, I have been quite disappointed with it. However, I must say that the car looks sharp from the outside and handles well. I have the hybrid/gas combo and I am able to get almost 400 miles per tank of gas, which is impressive. Despite these positives, I have had several issues with the car and I feel that it is not very safe. In my opinion, the cars are made quite cheaply. I have already had to deal with several issues, which is concerning. One of the most concerning issues is that all Fusion owners on my team and in other areas have experienced the car completely stopping on the highway while going 70 mph, causing the car to slow down to 20 mph and lose total power. All of us on the team have had to have the throttle body replaced. There is also a recall for the steering wheel coming off and my

The technological assistance provided by this car is impressive. While the push-button and rotary attachments may not be necessary for everyone, they can be a great help to those who are impaired in some way. However, it is important to note that seriously impaired individuals should not be behind the wheel. During my two-day experience with this car, I had to rely on the drivers' manual to figure out how to operate the vehicle, but once I got the hang of it, I found the new gadgets to be quite useful and not overly complicated. Overall, this car offers some great features that can enhance the driving experience.

  3. Isaiah Little 2024-09-01

The car rides smoothly and looks great. However, the computer system has been a bit of a challenge. Every few weeks, I have to take it to the dealership for inspection or repair. The driver's window and front passenger window had issues with the sensor, which caused them to get stuck. Although it happened during winter, when moisture can freeze up, it also happened in late spring, which was unexpected. Fortunately, those issues were fixed. The steering wheel was also recalled, but it was quickly resolved with a bolt change. Unfortunately, the sunroof is now malfunctioning, and it is stuck open. While it is approaching summer, I live in Seattle where it rains frequently. Overall, it is a great car, but the electronics can be frustrating. I hope Ford can improve this aspect in the future.

  4. Jimmie Donnelly 2024-07-14

Although I have enjoyed driving this car, it has been consistently unreliable. Despite having three quarters of a tank, it suddenly stopped while I was driving down a fast, narrow country road. This was a dangerous situation, and I was fortunate to be able to coast to a stopping place. When I tried to drive forward, the entire car shook hard and clunked loudly three times then completely quit. I was quite shaken by this experience. The dealership has had the car for a week but can find nothing wrong. They have suggested that I take the car back and wait until it happens again, which is not a safe option. It is unacceptable for a car to be unreliable and unsafe, regardless of its great mileage. I need a car that I can trust, especially when driving on the freeway.

I'm glad to hear that you've been enjoying your Fusion Hybrid! It's unfortunate to hear about the issue with the center console latch breaking off, especially so soon after purchasing the car. Have you reached out to other Fusion Hybrid owners to see if they've experienced a similar problem? As for the replacement, it's good to know that Ford is willing to replace it for $200.00. Thank you for sharing your experience with me!

  2. Clay Treutel 2024-07-29

It all started when I had an accident with my 1988 Nissan Sentra. I'm the original owner of that vehicle which I purchased 30-years ago. When I had the accident, I had to rent another car to drive. I requested an economy car to rent, but unfortunately, they didn't have one available at that moment. However, they were kind enough to rent me a 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid. As it turned out, I fell in love with the vehicle. When my insurance company informed me that they would not pay to fix my damaged Nissan because the cost of repair was more than the car was worth, I knew I had to purchase a replacement vehicle. So, I went out and bought a 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid from Theodore Robins Ford in Costa Mesa, CA. Even though it's a 2017 vehicle, it already had over 86,000 miles on it. Apparently, it was a corporate car that was driven quite a lot. However, the company that owned the vehicle took exceptional care of it, including meeting all of its maintenance schedules. The car looks and drives like new. I purchased it for $11,000 plus tax and license. I'm extremely happy with it. Do you need any more information?

Love this car, it has amazing handling, great gas mileage, and is very comfortable. I can't say enough good things about it!

  4. Alessandro King 2024-06-06

Excellent quality. Great features. Mileage is over 40 mpg and it is not even broken in yet. I'm so glad to hear that you're very pleased!

  5. Isom Daniel 2024-05-03

I purchased my car brand new in February 2016 and it was a dream come true. However, at 25,000 miles, I experienced a throttle body issue that caused the engine to turn off completely. Thankfully, the car was able to cruise on electric battery until I could safely park and turn it back on after a minute. Since then, the issue has been resolved under warranty and I have not had any other problems. I absolutely love driving it every day and it has now clocked 56,000 miles. As of the latest update on 4-13-23, it has reached 80,000 miles and is still running like new! I have only needed to change the synthetic oil and air and cabin filters. I have heard that you don't need to change the transmission fluid until 150,000 miles and others on the Fusion Hybrid Facebook group have said they never change it and it runs fine. Until I start feeling problems, I will not change it. Overall, it's a great vehicle that still runs like new!
