The Ford Fusion Hybrid is a gasoline-electric hybrid powered version of the mid-sized Ford Fusion sedan manufactured and marketed by Ford, now in its second generation. A plug-in hybrid version, the Ford Fusion Energi, was released in the U.S. in February 2013.

The first generation was launched to the U.S. market in March 2009 for model year 2010, together with its badge-engineered variants, the Mercury Milan Hybrid and the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. The second generation was launched under the Ford and Lincoln brands for model year 2013, went on sale in the U.S. in October 2012.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rated the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid at 39 mpg‑US (6.0 L/100 km; 47 mpg‑imp) combined city/highway. The second generation hybrid improved the fuel economy rating to 42 mpg‑US (5.6 L/100 km; 50 mpg‑imp) for combined city/highway driving. The EPA rated the Energi's combined city/highway fuel economy in all-electric mode at 88 miles per gallon gasoline equivalent (MPG-e) (2.7 L gasoline equivalent/100 km; 106 mpg-imp). In hybrid operation (charge-sustaining mode), the Energi has a combined fuel economy of 38 mpg‑US (6.2 L/100 km; 46 mpg‑imp).

The Fusion Hybrid has won the 2010 North American Car of the Year Award, and the entire 2013 Ford Fusion line-up, including the Fusion hybrid and plug-in variants, won the 2013 Green Car of the Year. As of December 2016, over 285,000 units of the Fusion hybrid family have been sold in the United States since 2009, including the plug-in hybrid variant. As of December 2016, sales of the Fusion Energi totaled 43,327 units delivered in its main market, the U.S.

Negative 2019 Ford Fusion hybrid car reviews

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share a quick story about our 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid Titanium that we leased for our elderly father. He doesn't drive it very often, but he likes having it around. We did run into a bit of an issue though - we found out that if the car isn't driven every 3 days, it won't start on the 4th day and needs to be jumped. We took it to the dealer and they said that this is normal and the car just needs to be driven more often. I was wondering if anyone else has had this same experience? Thanks for your help!

  2. Jameson Jacobson 2024-11-07

Hey there! If you're considering buying a used titanium model, it's definitely worth it! However, I wanted to let you know that some people have reported feeling a bit vulnerable on the road with the hybrid model. Just something to keep in mind!

  3. Delaney Brekke 2024-11-04

This is our second Ford Fusion hybrid plug in. After driving the 2019, I am missing some of the features that I had in my 2017 model. I was disappointed to find that the heated steering wheel feature had been moved to a second screen. Additionally, I noticed that the front sensors and parking assist features had been removed. I am curious as to why Ford would choose to delete these features from the same model.

  4. Scotty Flatley 2024-05-20

The interior is really good and the exterior is nice. However, the gas/electric combo may not be suitable for everyone as it lacks horsepower and pick up. It is great for 90% of city driving, but lacks acceleration on the highway. Additionally, the gas tanks are small and the battery takes up 3/4 of the trunk. It is important to research the car thoroughly before considering a purchase. Thank you for considering this information.

  5. Solon Hilpert 2024-04-20

The car's slow acceleration in a busy intersection was concerning. Additionally, the shifter was peeling apart and caused injury twice during the rental. The heating and cooling system had inconsistent performance. In mountainous terrain, a straight combustion engine would have been preferable. However, once the car was in motion, it provided a comfortable ride.

Positive 2019 Ford Fusion hybrid car reviews

  1. Cameron Rau 2025-08-28

Your Ford Fusion Hybrid sounds like an amazing car! With an average of 55 miles per gallon, it's clear that you've learned how to drive efficiently. It's great to hear that it handles smoothly in all types of weather and that you felt comfortable driving it. Additionally, the many safety features are definitely a plus!

  2. Jermey Collier 2025-08-20

Take it for a spin and see how it feels! We recommend driving it for at least 10 to 20 miles to get a good sense of it. We actually purchased ours in Sacramento and drove it all the way back to Mississippi. On average, we get about 38 to 40 mpg, but keep in mind that a headwind or strong side wind (like in Texas) can affect your mpg. It's definitely comfortable for long drives, even 8 hours or more. We're still learning about all the tech features, but it's been a fun process of discovery. We have a lease, but we plan on buying it at the end since we'll likely go over the mileage limit. The support for the lease has been great so far. We've always had sunroofs, but this one is special because it can be open at high speeds without any annoying wind noise. We've put about 4,000 miles on it and we already love it, and we're sure it will only get better!

  3. Abelardo Kulas 2025-07-15

The vehicle's hybrid qualities have left me thoroughly satisfied. I was able to complete 640 miles on just a 12 gallon tank, leaving me with a little under 1/4 tank. While I do have two minor complaints, namely the engine performance in eco mode and the inability of my phone apps like Waze navigation to connect wirelessly, I remain impressed with the vehicle's overall performance. I am still considering future maintenance for the electrical drive system. Update: As of 7/5/22, I have noticed that the air conditioner struggles to cool the car down when the outside temperature is 95 degrees or higher. However, there are no mechanical issues with the system, it simply can't keep up.

  4. Roberto Corkery 2025-07-03

Great details and fine lines. The car has really good pick up and the gas mileage is great. At first, I thought that the trunk space was smaller than I wanted, but there really is plenty of room. I hope you continue to enjoy this beautiful car!

  5. Hilbert Nolan 2025-07-01

I want to start by saying that this car is definitely not bad, despite what others may say. In fact, I am really enjoying my 2019 Ford Fusion Titanium Hybrid, which only had 6880 miles on it when I bought it. The safety features are impressive and the technology, including the Sync 3 system and Sony sound system, work flawlessly. The seats are also very comfortable. While some may criticize the fuel economy, I have found that I can get up to 607 miles on a single tank, which is impressive. The only minor drawback is that it may not be as fast as some other hybrids, but it still has good acceleration. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this car to others.
