2006 Ford F-450 sd problems
The Ford Super Duty (also known as the Ford F-Series Super Duty) is a series of heavy-duty pickup trucks produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 1999 model year. Slotted above the consumer-oriented Ford F-150, the Super Duty trucks are an expansion of the Ford F-Series range, from F-250 to the F-600. The F-250 through F-450 are offered as pickup trucks, while the F-350 through F-600 are offered as chassis cabs.
Rather than adapting the lighter-duty F-150 truck for heavier use, Super Duty trucks have been designed as a dedicated variant of the Ford F-Series. The heavier-duty chassis components allow for heavier payloads and towing capabilities. With a GVWR over 8,500 lb (3,900 kg), Super Duty pickups are Class 2 and 3 trucks, while chassis-cab trucks are offered in Classes 3, 4, 5, and 6. The model line also offers Ford Power Stroke V8 diesel engines as an option.
Ford also offers a medium-duty version of the F-Series (F-650 and F-750), which is sometimes branded as the Super Duty, but is another chassis variant. The Super Duty pickup truck also served as the basis for the Ford Excursion full-sized SUV.
The Super Duty trucks and chassis-cabs are assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky, and at Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake, Ohio. Prior to 2016, medium-duty trucks were assembled in Mexico under the Blue Diamond Truck joint venture with Navistar International.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-09-12
- VIN: 1FDXW46PX6E
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2012, MY TRUCK ENGINE STOPPED WORKING. THE VEHICLE, (2006 FORD F-450 SUPERDUTY TRUCK) WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP, WHERE I ASKED FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE HAS 51,193 MILES ON IT. FORD REPORTED THAT THE ENGINE HAD A "CATASTROPHIC FAILURE." THE MECHANIC SAID HE HAD NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH A PROBLEM AND WAS PUZZLED. HE SAID THE ENGINE LITERALLY BLEW APART SENDING FRAGMENTS THROUGH THE SYSTEM, DAMAGING OTHER ENGINE COMPONENTS. TO REPAIR THE ENGINE WOULD COST ME $14,000.00 DOLLARS. I CALLED FORD'S HOTLINE TO ASK WHAT COULD BE DONE ABOUT THE DEFECTIVE ENGINE GIVEN THE LOW MILEAGE. I WAS TOLD BY FORD THEY WOULD NOT HELP IN THE REPAIRS BECAUSE OF THE TIME FRAME ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THE NUMBER OF MILES ON THE TRUCK WOULD HAVE QUALIFIED THE TRUCK FOR WARRANTY WORK HAD IT BEEN WITHIN THE TIME FRAME. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD SHOULD A FUTURE RECALL BE ISSUED, BUT WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE NO FURTHER ACTION OR ASSISTANCE WITH THE VEHICLE. WHILE SEARCHING FOR A MECHANIC WHO COULD FIX THE TRUCK, I FOUND A NUMBER OF LOCAL MECHANICS WHO WERE VERY CRITICAL OF THE 6.0 LITER DIESEL FORD ENGINE. ONE PARTICULAR MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT HE CURRENTLY HAD 7 OF THE 6.0 LITER DIESEL ENGINES HE WAS WORKING ON THAT HAD SIMILAR ISSUES. HE MENTIONED ONE CUSTOMER THAT HAD THE SAME TRUCK AND YEAR MODEL AS MINE, BUT THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 22,000 MILES ON IT WHEN ITS ENGINE FAILED. ANOTHER LOCAL FLEET MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT YOU COULD CALL "ANY DIESEL MECHANIC IN ARKANSAS" AND THEY WOULD TELL YOU WHAT A TERRIBLE ENGINE THE 6.0 LITER FORD DIESEL ENGINE IS. GIVEN THE INFORMATION I DISCOVERED CONCERNING THE FAULTY ENGINES, IT IS MY FIRM BELIEF THAT IF THE NHTSA OFFICE CONDUCTED AN INVESTIGATION, THEY WOULD FIND CLEAR EVIDENCE THAT THE FORD 6.0 LITER DIESEL ENGINE USED IN A NUMBER OF THEIR TRUCK MODELS HAVE NUMEROUS DEFECTS AND SERIOUS DEFICIENCIES. *TR

FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2008-01-03
- VIN: 1FDXX47P56E
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL
- Summary: THE COATING ON THE INTERIOR OF FORD DIESEL FUEL TANKS CORRODES AND COLLECTS AS SEDIMENT IN THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE SEDIMENT, COLLECTS AT THE BOTTON OF THE FUEL TANK AND IS SUCKED INTO THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE FUEL LINES BECOME FOULED, THE FUEL PUMPS BECOME CLOGGED AND REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. AS THE COATING CONTINUES TO DETERIORATE, THE ONLY RECOURSE IT TO CHANGE THE FUEL TANK, THE SENSORS, AND ENTIRE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM. WE HAVE HAD 3 FORD VEHICLES F SERIES EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM. IN THIS INSTANCE, THE TRUCK WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. AFTER SPENDING $1912.11 IN REMEDIES, THE FINAL RECOURSE WAS TO HAVE OUR OWN MECHANICS REPLACE THE FUEL SYTEM FROM THE TANK ITSELT UPTO AND INCLUDING THE FUEL PUMP. THIS WAS AN ADDITIONAL EXPENSE OF APPROXIMATELY $1000. WE ARE REPORTING THIS AS IT SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN ALL THE FORD DIESEL FUEL SYSTEMS. AS THE FUEL SYSTEMS BECOME CLOGGED, THE VEHICLES LOSE POWER WITHOUT WARNING AND CREATE A SAFETY ISSUE AND DRIVING HAZARD NOT ONLY TO THE VEHICLE OPERATOR BUT OTHER MOTORISTS. UPON COMPLAINTS TO THE DEALER, AND TO FORD, THE DEALER REFERRED US TO THE ODI WEBSITE TO FINAL A SAFETY COMPLAINT AS THIS HAS OCCURRED OVER AND OVER.
