1999 Ford F-350 sd problems
The Ford Super Duty (also known as the Ford F-Series Super Duty) is a series of heavy-duty pickup trucks produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 1999 model year. Slotted above the consumer-oriented Ford F-150, the Super Duty trucks are an expansion of the Ford F-Series range, from F-250 to the F-600. The F-250 through F-450 are offered as pickup trucks, while the F-350 through F-600 are offered as chassis cabs.
Rather than adapting the lighter-duty F-150 truck for heavier use, Super Duty trucks have been designed as a dedicated variant of the Ford F-Series. The heavier-duty chassis components allow for heavier payloads and towing capabilities. With a GVWR over 8,500 lb (3,900 kg), Super Duty pickups are Class 2 and 3 trucks, while chassis-cab trucks are offered in Classes 3, 4, 5, and 6. The model line also offers Ford Power Stroke V8 diesel engines as an option.
Ford also offers a medium-duty version of the F-Series (F-650 and F-750), which is sometimes branded as the Super Duty, but is another chassis variant. The Super Duty pickup truck also served as the basis for the Ford Excursion full-sized SUV.
The Super Duty trucks and chassis-cabs are assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky, and at Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake, Ohio. Prior to 2016, medium-duty trucks were assembled in Mexico under the Blue Diamond Truck joint venture with Navistar International.

BOTH AIRBAGS ON MY 1999 F350 SUPER DUTY TURBO DIESEL 7.3L WERE DEPLOYED HITTING ME ON MY CHEST AND MY 17YR SON ON HIS FACE, IMPAIRING THE ABILITY TO DRIVE TILL WE WENT TO A HALT, THANK GOD I WAS ONLY GOING 30MPH AND NOT TOO MUCH TRAFFIC ON EITHER SIDE. CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAPPEN AT THE FREEWAY AT 65MPH. PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG COVER SHATTERED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE SHAFT BECAME LOOSE FROM THE TRANSMISSION JOINT, THE SHAFT 12.9 GRADE BOLTS BROKE IN HALF AND THE ROCKING SHAFT DAMAGED THE TRANSMISSION CASING AND BRACKETS, DEPLOYING THE 2 AIRBAGS AND SHATTERING THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG COVER,MAKING THE VEHICLE UNUSABLE. FORD CO. ASSUMED NO RESPONSIBILITY ON THIS ISSUE AT ALL, NOT EVEN ATTEMPTED TO INVESTIGATE OR TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ON HOW THE PART BROKE AND WHY THE AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED IN THE ABSENCE OF A CRASH. THIS SITUATION WILL COST ME A LOT OF MONEY, SUFFERING, FINANCIAL SITUATION AND DEFINITELY COULD CAUSE INJURIES AND DEATH. ON MECHANIC MALFUNCTION FORD MOTOR COMPANY ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY, THEY JUST INFORMED ME THERE WERE NO SAFETY RECALLS ON THAT ISSUE. *TR

- Date Of Incident: 2009-09-17
- Crash: 1
- VIN: 1FTWW32F1XE
- Components: PARKING BRAKE,ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE LAIRD NOLLER FORD DEALERSHIP FOR A CAM SENSOR RECALL IN NOVEMBER 2008. THEY COULD NOT MAKE THE REPAIR THAT DAY AND MY APPOINTMENT WAS RESCHEDULED FOR AFTER CHRISTMAS 2008. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE PARKING BRAKE MODULE AND THEY WOULD REPLACE IT AT THE SAME TIME THEY REPLACED THE CAM SENSOR. APPROXIMATELY A WEEK AFTER CHRISTMAS (IT WAS A WEDNESDAY) I TOOK IT BACK IN FOR THE REPAIRS. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE IT DONE AT THE END OF THE DAY, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY THEY CALLED BACK AND SAID IT WOULD NOT BE DONE UNTIL THE NEXT WEEK. SO, THAT NEXT MONDAY (JANUARY 3RD ISH 2009) THEY CALLED, I WENT TO PICK UP MY TRUCK AND ALL THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE MADE. EVERYTHING WAS GOOD UNTIL SEPTEMBER 17TH 2009. I HAD MY TRUCK PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SET (IT HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSON), SO IT WOULD WARM UP THAT MORNING. I WAS WALKING BACK TO MY HOUSE WHEN I HEARD A LOAD POP, I TURNED TO SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING, AND MY TRUCK BEGAN ROLLING OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY AND SMASHED INTO A TREE. CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY, TOLD THEM MY PARKING BRAKE MODULE BROKE AND THAT FORD HAD JUST REPLACED IT EARLIER IN THE YEAR. THEY TOWED MY TRUCK TO A BODY SHOP. I CALLED FORD NEXT, AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE CRASH. THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD GATHER ALL MY PAPER WORK AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD GET A HOLD OF THEM, AND THEY WOULD TALK WITH THEM ABOUT WHO WOULD PAY FOR THE DAMAGES. THEN I CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY, AND TOLD THEM WHO TO TALK TO. MY INSURANCE DECIDED THE PARKING BRAKE HAD FAILED, AND THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO FORD TO GET IT CHECKED OUT. FORD LOOKED AT IT, AND AGREED THAT YES THE PART (FACTORY RECALLED AND REPLACED PART) HAD FAILED, AND PROCEEDED TO PRICE ME A NEW ONE. THEY TOLD ME MINE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE REPLACEMENT PART ALLEGEDLY HAD ONLY A 12 MONTH 12,000 WARRANTY, AND I WAS AT 10 MONTHS, 14,000 ON A PART THAT DOESN'T WEAR BECAUSE OF MILEAGE. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT REPLACED AND FAILURE OCCURS DURING EVERY USE. *TR
