The first Charger was a show car in 1964. A 1965 Charger II concept car resembled the 1966 production version.

In the United States, the Charger nameplate has been used on mid-size cars, personal luxury coupes, subcompact hatchbacks, and full-size sedans.

Common 2019 Dodge Charger problems

The 2019 Dodge Charger has various common problems that owners have reported, including issues with the stereo system, freezing, a stability control warning light, and rattling noises from the suspension.

One of the most widespread complaints from 2019 Dodge Charger owners within the first 1,000 miles is the stereo system freezing. This issue is typically due to software problems and can be resolved with software updates. Most dealers will install these updates for free, while others may charge around $50 for labor.

Another problem reported by some 2019 Charger owners within the first 10,000 miles is a stability control warning light. This warning light can indicate that the car is losing traction, or it could be a sign of an issue with the sensor. Diagnosing the problem costs around $50, while fixing it can cost about $200.

Rattling noises from the suspension are another problem mentioned by Charger owners at roughly 35,000 miles. Suspension components wear out as the car ages, and will have to be replaced. Changing out the shocks costs around $600 for original parts, or there are high-performance aftermarket parts which cost over $1,000.

There are four recalls on the 2019 Dodge Charger, which is similar to other cars from the same year. The most serious recall is for the backup camera not working, and Dodge will update the software on affected models for free. Other recalls include the sun visors, dash lights, and front tires, and Dodge will repair and replace all of those for free on affected models.

These problems are similar to other sports cars and large sedans on the market, leading to average repair costs. However, it is essential to note that these issues can decrease the life of the vehicle and make it a more expensive car to keep. Therefore, potential buyers should be aware of these common problems and consider them when purchasing a 2019 Dodge Charger.

AIR BAGS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • VIN: 2C3CDXHG4KH
  • Components: AIR BAGS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: I own a 2019 Dodge Charger, and it has an open recall for the airbag inflator, which poses a serious safety risk. Despite the recall being issued over six months ago, replacement parts are still unavailable. Due to this safety concern, I am unable to drive my vehicle far from home, significantly impacting my usage. Additionally, I used to rent this vehicle on Turo to generate income, but it has been delisted from the platform because of the unresolved recall. I am still responsible for monthly loan payments of $420 and insurance payments of over $400 every month which is causing me financial loss without the ability to safely operate or rent out my car. I have contacted dealerships multiple times, but the parts continue to be delayed with no estimated resolution.

Negative 2019 Dodge Charger car reviews

  1. Reece Lemke 2024-11-09

I strongly advise against this product. It has caused nothing but problems. Fortunately, I am leasing and will be returning it next year. I highly discourage anyone from purchasing it. It is not worth the money.

  2. Delbert Langosh 2024-09-21

I recently purchased this car brand new and overall, I am quite pleased with it. The interior is spacious and the stereo system is fantastic. The car also has great power and acceleration when needed. However, I have noticed that the door panels on all doors are peeling back from the window, which is disappointing. Unfortunately, there is no warranty or recall to fix this issue. While I understand that this is frustrating, I believe that Dodge is still a reputable brand and I would consider purchasing from them again in the future. Thank you for taking the time to read my review.

  3. Kay Prohaska 2024-05-23

I drove a Charger rental, which I believe was the 'SXT' trim. Although the trim wasn't displayed on the vehicle or in the manual, I was impressed with its features. However, the vehicle's handling felt a bit sluggish, which may be due to its weight or the difference between my FWD Civic and a RWD Charger. Despite this, I found the car to be very good-looking and would love to own one in the future. Unfortunately, I experienced some mechanical issues while driving it. While driving my girlfriend home, I received a message in the dash to service the 'Traction Stability Control', which then changed to 'Service Trans' with confusing instructions for stopping the car. The acceleration changed drastically, making it difficult to move the car from a complete stop. I pulled off at a gas station and turned the car off, but it was telling me that it wasn't in park and I couldn't shift to reverse. I had to get a ride home since the car was practically immobile. As someone who has had zero engine problems with my Civic, I was extremely disappointed. I don't think I'll be driving a Charger again unless it's another rental that isn't my problem when it decides to break down. It's great that you're into cool-looking cars! However, I personally don't trust Chargers or Dodge anymore. I haven't had the chance to drive Jeeps or Chrystlers, but did you know they're under the same parent company? In the future, I'll stick to Honda since I've had great experiences with their reliable cars.

  4. Fletcher Bergstrom 2024-03-24

The car's weight seems to have affected its performance, with only 305 hp. However, the V6 engine can still achieve 27 mpg if driven carefully. The fit and finish of the car is almost perfect, but there is one issue that needs to be addressed. The electric power steering unit is located too low and can be easily damaged by small branches or road debris, which can render the car unsteerable. Unfortunately, there is no skid plate available to protect it. It is also disappointing that Dodge is going all-electric, without considering the public's desire or the future price of electricity. On a positive note, the Kia is a great alternative to consider.

  5. Beau Schmeler 2024-03-18

I purchased a Dodge Charger about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, I have experienced some issues with the vehicle, such as the panels under the car coming off. Despite this, I am confident that the issue can be resolved. Although the warranty does not cover this particular issue, I am working with the dealership to find a solution. I have heard some negative things about Dodge in the past, but I am optimistic that this issue can be resolved. Thank you for your understanding.

Positive 2019 Dodge Charger car reviews

  1. Kareem Kunze 2025-03-26

Hi there! I'm a travelling salesman and I've had the pleasure of driving both a Chevy SS and a Charger. While both cars offer similar comfort, I have to say that I prefer the Charger. It's a great value for the money and offers a lot of performance. Although the SS has some extra features and a higher sticker price, I don't see any extra performance that justifies the cost. While professional auto testers may prefer the SS, my personal experience tells me that the Charger accelerates harder and inspires more confidence in corners. The Charger also has more comfortable seats for long drives, although wider people may prefer the SS seats. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Charger gets better mileage on the highway, but the SS is more consistent in city driving. Overall, I think the Charger is a great buy and I'm happy with my purchase. The only downside is that it doesn't have some of the features that the SS has, like the heads up display and spare tire, but those are minor annoyances. Thanks for reading! For some reason, Dodge placed the small high beam indicator light in a spot where it is often hidden by the tach needle. Although it may seem like a small issue, it can be quite annoying. Another inconvenience with the Charger is the automatic door locks. On a nice day, driving with the windows down is a must, if only to listen to that wonderful engine. However, if you like to rest your arm on the window sill, the front door locks can pinch you when they activate. The SS has the same automatic door locks, but they are positioned slightly differently, so they won't pinch you when they activate. Despite these minor issues, I find driving the Charger more enjoyable. After all, driving enjoyment is the reason why cars like the SS and Charger exist. For those who consider driving a necessary evil, there are plenty of other fine transportation options available for less money and operating costs. As for me, I'm already thinking about how to get a Charger when it's time for the company to trade my SS. Update 18 months down the road... not a single problem or issue. It's still my favorite car to drive. This car has the optional LED headlights, which are really good. I never realized how bad the headlights were on our previous car until we got this one. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing in the original review. When my wife bought this car, I did wonder whether the long-term reliability of a Chrysler product could be trusted. So far, the answer has been a resounding YES. Update #2 at 24 months, the car is still solid and tight. There hasn't been a single malfunction or need for unscheduled service. American cars should be built this well. I do wish we had ordered tinted windows since we ordered a dark color and the interior is black. If you park in the sun a lot, it's something you might want to consider. On the plus side, the color called maximum steel manages to be dark but not show dirt like a black car.Not sure how they pulled that off, but the car never really looks dirty even when it is. Driving enjoyment hasn't faded one iota. We've put on some highway miles in the past months and the highway fuel mileage is amazingly good for such a powerful car. In normal around-town driving, the car is a bit of a gas guzzler. Still, we would be willing to buy another one, but there is no need to as this has been such a good car thus far. Update #3: Due to moving to an area that requires more frequent travel off of paved roads, my wife decided to replace the Charger with a Jeep. The Charger is not a good choice for unpaved roads. Our 3+ years of ownership was a revelation. Like a lot of buyers, we were leery of Chrysler build quality. After 60k miles, the car is still tight and trouble-free. I don't know if our experience is typical, but we consider it the best-built car we've ever owned - and that experience includes Toyota, Honda, and Mercedes. One other unexpected bonus: we got more than the original sticker price in trade for the Jeep. This might be due to the car shortage, but these cars appear to hold their value really well.

I've been driving Dodge Chargers for 10 years now and I wouldn't choose any other car. They're sporty, durable, and reliable. If you take care of them, they'll take you wherever you want to go!

Hey there! I just wanted to clarify that I have the charger model, not the challenger. Although both have almost every component and engine part the same except the cab. I absolutely love this car! Its insane speed, roaring exhaust and intimidating look made it an easy choice for me. The only downside is the MPG, which isn't great, especially when you drive it around every day like it's stolen. However, when you buy a car like this, you know what you're getting into. So, no one should be complaining, especially if you daily drive it like me.

In the summer of 2018, I was considering purchasing a new high-performance car and was torn between the Mustang GT and Camaro. At the time, I owned a 2013 Mustang V6 which was a bit of a letdown. However, during an air trip, we were given a 2018 5.7L Charger as a rental car and it was an absolute blast to drive. My wife and I were both impressed with how comfortable and quiet it was on the highway. It handled like a dream, with tight and responsive steering, and the brakes were fantastic. The suspension was able to absorb bumps with ease, yet the car had virtually zero body roll. We even cruised at 100 mph on I-91 in VT with no issues. We loved every minute in it and when we returned home, I test drove the SRT 6.4 L rig. The power and handling were astounding, and the suspension was able to handle bumpy twisters with ease. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the Charger and learned a lot from crawling all over the SRT. It's definitely worth considering if you're in the market for a new car.Turns out this suspension setup came from Daimler Benz years back and has been substantially improved by the Chrysler engineers. The shocks are Bilstein gas types. I had longed for those for years instead of the OEM junk that came with my Mustang. The hood is made of aluminum, which is a nice touch for my car. The front brakes have cooling air ducts direct from the grille. So, I bought the 6.4 L SRT with the Dynamics Package which added 6 piston Brembos to the front along with huge two-piece slotted rotors (lighter than all cast iron rotors). The 4 piston Brembos at the rear are also a great addition. The forged alloy 20As you may have read, this car is compatible with both Apple and Android phones, providing a full navigation package display in the center panel. The HID headlights and all other exterior lights are LED, and the car also features automated blind spot warning, both audible and in the mirrors. I could go on for another page or so, but let me tell you about my personal experience with this car. After 18 months of ownership and several long trips, I can confidently say that it has been flawless and incredibly enjoyable to drive. My wife loves it too! The interior is so quiet when cruising that we can easily converse without any distractions. Unlike my previous car, a 2013 Mustang that had its fair share of problems, this car has not experienced a single issue. I highly recommend taking it for a test drive if you haven't already. In my opinion, it's a world-class 4-door sedan with fantastic handling, brakes, and power. It's also lovely to look at and a joy to own.

I recently rented a '19 Charger R/T with a Hemi 5.7 for a business trip that took me a couple of hours south of Kansas City. I nicknamed the car 'rocketship'. As a car enthusiast who restores 60's muscle cars on the side, I had a blast driving this Charger. It was surprisingly quiet at speed and had all the power you could need at any speed. The suspension handled potholes and road imperfections with ease while remaining stable and always in control. The brakes did their job when an 18 wheeler decided to invade my lane, and the handling was surprisingly flat on turns at speed with almost no body roll. This is quite a feat given the size and weight of this car. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and if Dodge ever figures out a way to make the V8 versions all-wheel drive, I would love to have one in my garage.
