The Chrysler PT Cruiser is a compact car that was built by the American company Chrysler from 2001 until 2010. Introduced as a five-door hatchback wagon, a two-door convertible variant was also made from 2005 until 2008.
Originally planned as a Plymouth model, the PT Cruiser was ultimately marketed as a Chrysler when Plymouth was discontinued. Intended to invoke 1930s aesthetics, the exterior of the PT Cruiser was designed by Bryan Nesbitt. The model received an intermediate facelift for the 2006 model year. Interior packaging was noted for its high roof, high h-point seating, and flexible cargo and passenger configurations enabled by a multi-level rear cargo shelf and rear seats a user could fold, tumble, or remove.
The PT Cruiser was produced in Mexico and Austria at the Toluca Car Assembly and Eurostar Automobilwerk factories. By the end of production in July 2010, worldwide production had reached 1.35 million.
In its nameplate, PT stands for "Personal Transport" or "Personal Transportation". PT was the PT Cruiser's product code for the Mexican-made units.

I noticed that you bought this car used, and according to CARFAX, it had only one previous owner and low mileage. It's great to hear that you love driving convertibles, and this one seems to have a tight body due to the roll bar, which reduces noise and rattling for a rag top. You mentioned that you get about 24 mpg around town, which is impressive. It's perfect to drive with the top down during the Palm Springs autumn, winter, and fall. It's great fun to drive and we get a lot of looks! We own the GT TURBO with 220 HP and I'm afraid my wife might get a speeding ticket because it's so quick and handles great. Surprisingly, it has more room than it appears to have.

I can tell that you are really enjoying your base model 2005 5-speed car! It sounds like it is a lot of fun to drive, especially with the manual transmission. The Electric Blue color is also very cool and definitely turns heads. Overall, it seems like you made a great choice with this car!

I recently purchased a black PT convertible GT and I must say, it did not disappoint! The power, style, and handling were all as advertised. The 220 hp turbo engine is particularly impressive and I would highly recommend it over the non-turbo and 180 hp turbo touring edition. The car handled very well during a rainstorm, with the traction control keeping it stable on the wet roads. We received a lot of attention from other drivers during our trip between LA and San Diego. Putting the top up and down was also very easy. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase!

This is a really reliable car! While it may not win any drag races, it has great fuel economy and a spacious interior. The only negative experience I've had was having to replace the radiator at 70,000 miles due to a leaking bottom valve that couldn't be repaired. I had to purchase another radiator, but overall, I'm still very happy with this car.

Hello again! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to update you on my car troubles. Unfortunately, after picking up my car from the mechanic, I noticed a thumping noise coming from the front right. It turns out that the right front motor mount was the culprit! While Chrysler recommends pulling the engine to replace the mount, my mechanic was able to fix it without doing so. The cost was $700 this time. Interestingly, my mechanic found that only 2 out of 4 bolts were holding the mount on, which caused it to break. Additionally, he discovered that only 2 out of 4 bolts were on the power steering pump, despite the car only having 27K miles! I'll keep you updated on any further developments. Although the PT Cruiser has some nice features such as a great color and a nice interior, there are some areas that could be improved. The seats can be uncomfortable over long drives and the lack of cruise control means more physical driving. Additionally, there have been some issues with reliability, including the brakes needing to be replaced twice and quick tire wear. While the gas mileage is not ideal at 22 mpg on the highway, it is comparable to other vehicles in its class. It is also worth noting that some repairs can be costly. However, overall the PT Cruiser is a decent car with some room for improvement.

Hey there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to give you a heads up about this car. While it may seem tempting to cruise around with the top down, I've had some issues with the suspension. Unfortunately, I've had to make some major repairs and replacements, including control arms and hub bearings, and now the motor mounts have failed at only 41500 miles. After looking through some other reviews, it seems like others have had similar issues. I wish I had found this site and read the reviews before making my purchase.

The PT Conv we purchased has unfortunately caused us a lot of trouble. Despite seeking help from the original dealer and Integrity Chrysler Dodge, we have not been able to resolve the issues. Even Chrysler Corp has not been able to provide any assistance. The car has stopped running unexpectedly at high speeds, which has been a major safety concern. Additionally, the radiator cracked and had to be replaced, which is surprising given the low mileage of the car. In light of these experiences, we do not recommend purchasing a Chrysler product. We suggest considering a Mustang instead, which has a better track record for reliability and repairability.

Although the car initially performed well, it has unfortunately been plagued with issues since the second year of ownership. Despite being under warranty, the turbo blew out and required repairs. Unfortunately, the dealership's work was subpar, resulting in the need for repeat repairs. While I have spent a significant amount on repairs, I remain confident in my decision to not purchase a Chrysler again. It is my hope that Chrysler and its subsidiaries will take the necessary steps to improve their products and services.
