The Chrysler PT Cruiser is a compact car that was built by the American company Chrysler from 2001 until 2010. Introduced as a five-door hatchback wagon, a two-door convertible variant was also made from 2005 until 2008.
Originally planned as a Plymouth model, the PT Cruiser was ultimately marketed as a Chrysler when Plymouth was discontinued. Intended to invoke 1930s aesthetics, the exterior of the PT Cruiser was designed by Bryan Nesbitt. The model received an intermediate facelift for the 2006 model year. Interior packaging was noted for its high roof, high h-point seating, and flexible cargo and passenger configurations enabled by a multi-level rear cargo shelf and rear seats a user could fold, tumble, or remove.
The PT Cruiser was produced in Mexico and Austria at the Toluca Car Assembly and Eurostar Automobilwerk factories. By the end of production in July 2010, worldwide production had reached 1.35 million.
In its nameplate, PT stands for "Personal Transport" or "Personal Transportation". PT was the PT Cruiser's product code for the Mexican-made units.

CANNOT LIGHT A BULB BUT STILL SHOWS THE VOLTAGE ON THE METER), GROUNDS METER GOOD TO CHASSIS. WIRING HARNESS APPEARS GOOD WITH NO INDICATION OF DAMAGE. RUNS VERY ROUGH AND ENGINE LIGHT CODES A CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. RUNS SMOOTH UNDER ACCELERATION BUT VERY ROUGH ON IDLE AND SOMETIMES STALLS WHEN STOPPING OR AT RED LIGHTS. I HAVE SPENT SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS ALREADY ON TIMING BELTS, ALTERNATORS, INJECTORS AND OTHER MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES. DEALERS WONT LOOK AT IT WITHOUT SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS AGAIN AND AGAIN. I SUSPECT TIPM AND PCM TO BE DEFECTIVE UNITS THROUGHOUT CHRYSLER PRODUCTS. - Summary: TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PT CRUISER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND AN ABNORMAL WHINING AND GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED THE FAILURE ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE DUE TO THE HIGH PRESSURE HOSE RUBBING AGAINST THE TRANSAXLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 131,000.

- Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE REAR QUARTER GLASS ATTACHING FASTENERS MAY PULL THROUGH THEIR MOUNTS AND ALLOW THE GLASS TO SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE.
- Consequence: IF THE GLASS SEPARATES WHILE DRIVING, IT COULD STRIKE ANOTHER VEHICLE OR INJURE A PEDESTRIAN.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE REAR QUARTER GLASS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 30, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

I've put 30,000 miles on my PT convertible in 18 months and have yet to return to the dealer with problems. It's such a fun car and also very functional for a convertible. You can comfortably fit four people and flip the rear seats down for long cargo. Although, the trunk lid can be a bit of an issue as you have to nearly stand on your head to access it. Overall, I absolutely love this car!

The PT is a comfortable and beautifully designed sun-tanning machine. It's fun to drive, especially with the turbo, and with the top down, it's an absolute blast!

I bought this car when I transferred to L.A. and I couldn't be happier! It's so much fun to drive, has a great retro look, and excellent pickup. I looked at several convertibles and found the Cruiser to be the best value for the money. It has the weight and feel of the pricier convertibles - more car than the Miata. I bought the fully loaded model and got a better discount.

I love how the car handles and looks! When I first saw it come out, I knew I had to have one. I ended up getting an electric blue one. At first, my youngest son was skeptical, but after he rode in it, he loved it too! I have all the special features, including heated leather seats, a sunroof, a 6-disc CD player, auto stick, and more. It's speedy, has a smooth ride, and is an absolute blast to drive. I love it so much that my husband doesn't get to drive it very often. My friends who have ridden in it also love it!

You have two cars - a 2005 GT and a 2006 Limited. The 2005 GT is an amazing car with great build quality, and it's a great value for the money. The design integrates some of the best styling cues of the 30s and 40s, while the engineering is cutting-edge. I can say that I haven't had this much fun and performance since my 1964 GTO! The 2006 Limited is also a great car, getting over 25 MPG, and it's comfortable and spacious. Both cars have a solid, quality feel.

I have driven 12,000 miles and I am getting 17 highway mpg with my 4-cylinder engine. Although it lacks power, the car is spacious and attractive. However, it requires a 1/4 mile to turn and does not have wind silencers, so it can be noisy at speeds over 50 mph. It's worth noting that a minivan made by the same company gets better gas mileage.

Although the car has a great style and design, there are some areas that could be improved. The gas mileage is poor, the seats are uncomfortable and stained, and the window openers could be better placed. Additionally, the car shakes a bit at 65 MPH and the front and back sloping window design can make it difficult to see, which could be a safety concern. However, I have not experienced any issues with the engine, steering, or electrical components. Overall, there is room for improvement but the car is still reliable and functional.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my car. I bought it back in 2007 as a used car and it has been a great investment. I recently hit the 177,000 mile mark and while I did have a couple of minor issues with the thermostat and heater core, it was nothing too serious. However, I decided it was time to trade it in and upgrade to something newer. I must say, I'm impressed that I was able to drive it for so long without any major mechanical issues. It was a reliable and fairly inexpensive car, although parts could be a bit costly due to the fact that it uses Mercedes parts as Mercedes owned Chrysler. Lastly, I know some people may make fun of the PT Cruiser, but I think it's a great car, especially for older ladies. Thanks for listening to my story!

I purchased this car after renting one. I loved the ride and power. The rental had 42,000 miles on it. I bought this one brand new. At first, I hated it because it was bad on gas, but after about 25,000 miles, it was like someone flipped a switch. Now it gets 24 mpg, and the car is driven by two different drivers. I would own another one. Currently, it has 50,000 miles on it.

I recently purchased a used 2006 Pt Cruiser on December 5th of this year. It was in great condition and had only 48,000 miles on it. I was thrilled with my purchase. However, on December 11th, I began to hear a noise in the front end and the engine was shaking. I planned to have it looked at when I received my next paycheck. Although it started out okay, after the third day, I stopped driving it altogether. One day, while driving with my dogs, I was approaching a red light behind a truck. I pressed the brakes as far down as I could, but they did not work, and there was a terrible grinding sound. I had to use the park brake to stop the car, but I still ended up hitting the truck. Thankfully, we were all okay, but the car was not. I was surprised that the brake light never came on, and the airbag did not deploy. I plan to sell the car, but I will be upfront about the issue. Unfortunately, I will likely lose a good portion of what I paid for it. It's frustrating that recalls often only happen after someone is hurt or killed. This car is not safe.
