1992 Chrysler New yorker problems

chrysler logo

The Chrysler New Yorker is an automobile model produced by Chrysler from 1940 until 1996, serving for several decades as either the brand's flagship model or as a junior sedan to the Chrysler Imperial, the latter during the years in which the Imperial name was used within the Chrysler lineup rather than as a standalone brand.

A trim level named the "New York Special" first appeared in 1938, while the "New Yorker" name debuted in 1939. The New Yorker helped define the Chrysler brand as a maker of upscale models that were priced and equipped to compete against upper-level models from Buick, Oldsmobile, and Mercury.

The New Yorker was Chrysler's most prestigious model throughout most of its run. Over the decades, it was available in several body styles, including sedan, coupe, and convertible.

Until its discontinuation in 1996, the New Yorker was the longest-running American car nameplate.

The booster and master cylinder were tested and found to be within spec at idle, but the readings with acceleration were not accurate.

Owners have reported various issues related to these systems, and it is essential to address these problems promptly to ensure the safety and reliability of the vehicle.

Negative 1992 Chrysler New yorker car reviews

  1. Sheldon Rempel 2024-09-01

Your car sounds like it was a real adventure! I can tell you really enjoyed it, even with all the issues you had. The velour seats sound super comfy, but I can see why your kids might have thought the tufted back seat looked like the inside of a coffin. If you ever have the chance to get another one, I hope you do!

  2. Brandon Paucek 2024-08-27

We have owned this car since we bought it new from the dealer. It has seen two kids through high school and college and is still kicking. We've had only small repair problems along the way. Since the warranty was up, it's been a dream! Sure, it's now ugly and old and has the turning radius of an 18 wheeler, but it's reliable. Unfortunately, someone just hit it - insurance co. said it's totaled. You should see the other car, though. The New Yorker won big time. If you can find one still around, I think the car would be worthwhile for a few years to come.

Positive 1992 Chrysler New yorker car reviews

  1. Arnaldo Johnston 2024-11-15

I've always owned luxury cars, including Lincolns, Cadillacs, and now my first Fifth Ave. After owning all types, I would rank the Fifth Ave as second best, with Lincoln coming in first and Cadillac's coming in last. I've never been happy with the Cadillac, from its ride to its comfort. On the other hand, Lincoln is the best. However, I do take my hat off to their Fifth Ave, as it has been a joy to drive and has all the comfort and features I would expect from a car of its class. I'm truly happy with it and would recommend it to anyone. I'm 36 years old and will never go for a sports car because I was raised on luxury.

  2. Jose Fadel 2024-09-23

    Outstanding vehicle, virtually problem-free.

  3. Arnold Collins 2024-09-02

Car runs great but the electrical system needs help.

  4. Bradley Smith 2024-08-01

This is such an awesome vehicle!

  5. Louisa Weissnat 2024-05-23
