2001 Chrysler Lhs problems

The Chrysler LHS is a full-size luxury four-door sedan that was produced by Chrysler for the 1994 through the 2001 model years, with a one-year hiatus for 1998. It replaced the Chrysler Imperial and the Chrysler Fifth Avenue as the division's flagship model. The LHS was rebadged as the Concorde Limited for the 2002 model year.

First generation (1994–1997)

Introduced in May 1993 for the 1994 model year, the Chrysler LHS was the top of the line model for the division, as well as the most expensive of the Chrysler LH platform cars. All the LH-series models shared a 113.0-inch (2,870 mm) wheelbase and were developed using Chrysler's new computer drafting system.

The car was differentiated from the division's New Yorker sedan by its bucket leather seats (the New Yorker had a bench seat) and standard features such as alloy wheels that were options on the New Yorker. Further differences between the Chrysler LHS and its New Yorker counterpart were a floor console and shifter, five-passenger seating, lack of chrome trim, an upgraded interior, and a sportier image. From the 1996 model year on the New Yorker was dropped in favor of a six-passenger option on the LHS. The LHS received a minor face change in 1995 when the corporate-wide Pentastar emblem was replaced with the revived Chrysler brand emblem.

Standard features of the LHS included a 3.5 L EGE 24-valve 214 hp (160 kW; 217 PS) V6 engine, body-colored grille, side mirrors and trim, traction control, aluminum wheels, integrated fog lights, 8-way power-adjustable front seats, premium sound systems with amplifiers, and automatic temperature control. Unlike the New Yorker, leather seats were standard.

  • Date Of Incident: 2012-09-19
  • VIN: 2C3H56G01H5
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS
  • Summary: AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING DEFECT! HOW MANY COMPLAINTS NEED TO FILED BEFORE NHTSA RESPONDS TO A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND INVESTIGATES THIS FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL? ACCORDING TO THEIR GUIDE LINES, THERE IS NO SPECIFIC NUMBER. MAYBE THEY SHOULD CONSIDER ALL OTHER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BY CHRYSLER IN 2001, IN THE SAME GROUP SIZE BUT DIFFERENT MODELS, I.E. INTREPID, CONCORDE ETC. AND THIS DOESN'T INCLUDE CARS THAT PEOPLE HAD FIXED AND OR, CARS NO LONGER IN SERVICE WHO'S OWNERS ARE NOT AWARE THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY. WHY ARE ALL OF THE OTHER YEAR AND MODEL CARS FROM 1998 TO PRESENT BEING RECALLED, EXCEPT FOR THE 2001 LHS??? WHY IS CHRYSLER CHARGING 3X'S AS MUCH MORE FOR THIS CLOCK SPRING AS COMPARED TO ALL THE OTHERS THAT ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL. THERE CAN'T BE THAT MUCH DIFFERENCE!!! MAYBE I SHOULD GO ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND LAUNCH MY OWN CAMPAIGN TO SEE HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE AND ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS PROCESS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ME SINCE 2012. CONTACTED CHRYSLER NUMEROUS TIMES ABOUT THIS ISSUE! *TR

  • VIN: 1C4GJ25B51B
  • Components: SEATS
  • Summary: MY HUSBAND AND I BOUGHT A NEW 2001 CHRYSLER VOYAGER MINIVAN IN APRIL OF 2001. AS OF 11/10/05 THERE WAS 51,000 MILES ON OUR 4 YEAR OLD VAN. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT IT FOR ALL SERVICING. WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL 11/10/05. MY HUSBAND WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN THE STREET ON HIS WAY HOME WHEN THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME BROKE IN HALF AND LANDED IN THE BACK SEAT! THANKFULLY HE DID NOT GET IN AN ACCIDENT ALTHOUGH THE FRAME BREAKING DID AGGRAVATE A PREVIOUS BACK INJURY. WE HAD TO USE OUR "CLUB" (ANTI-THEFT DEVICE) TO PROP UP THE SEAT TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY (WE HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY). THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WOULD BE $1200-$1500 FOR PARTS ALONE FOR THE "MECHANISM"?? OUR SEATS ARE MANUAL SEATS...IT WAS THE FRAME THAT BROKE IN HALF!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY WE WILL NEVER BUY A CHRYSLER PRODUCT AGAIN!! WE TRADED THAT VAN IN THAT DAY AND BOUGHT A NEW TOYOTA VEHICLE. WE ONLY HAD THE ONE VEHICLE AND NEEDED SOMETHING DRIVABLE AND RELIABLE THAT DAY!!! WE COULD POSSIBLY SEE SOMETHING MECHANICAL BREAKING DOWN...BUT A DRIVER'S SEAT TO BREAK IN HALF WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING??? THAT IS SO TOTALLY DANGEROUS AND DEFINITELY UNEXPECTED!!! *NM

THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS ON CHRYSLER VEHICLES WITH AS LITTLE AS 15,000 MILES ON THEM AND THAT THEY DO NOT USE FUEL LINE IN THE REPAIR BUT SIMPLY REPLACE WITH THE ORIGINAL MATERIAL. REGARDLESS, THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AS THE HOSES ARE CONSIDERED A WEAR ITEM. THE DEALER DISPOSED OF THE ORIGINAL LINES SO I WAS UNABLE TO INSPECT THE LEVEL OF DEGRADATION BUT THEY SAID THAT ONE HOSE WAS LEAKING. *JB

Negative 2001 Chrysler Lhs car reviews

Positive 2001 Chrysler Lhs car reviews

  1. Wyatt Fadel 2024-11-17

Congratulations on owning your 2001 LHS for over a year now! It's great to hear that you bought it with less than 25,000 miles and it has been a very reliable car for you, with close to 40,000 miles now. Your wife and you must really appreciate the heated seats in the winter. It's impressive that the car is much quicker than you would have expected. Although you mentioned that there is little leg room in the front, it's understandable as you are 6'7

  2. Bertrand Barrows 2024-11-16

I never imagined that a car this large would show between 27-30 MPG consistently on the road and 21 in the city. Chrysler has a winning formula in the LHS. Sadly, I must part ways with it as it is time to move to something new for my business. If you can find one like mine, I highly recommend buying it! These cars are excellent - few mechanical problems and high reliability.

  3. Allan Stanton 2024-10-27

Your Father purchased this 2000 model car new in 1999. He never had any trouble with it and passed it onto me a few years ago. The ride is smooth and excellent and despite its big car feel in how well it hugs the road, the gas mileage has been great for this size car. The instrumentation is all clear to see and while today's electronics have gone way beyond most cars built in 2000, the LHS was at the top of the game. I would not hesitate to purchase its replacement model, the 300. This is a gem of a car that is still ticking.

  4. Raven Predovic 2024-10-08

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my car. I've had it for 2.5 years and driven 24000 miles, and I'm happy to say that the only thing I've had to replace so far are the tires. I'm really impressed with how well-built and reliable this car is, not to mention how comfortable it is to drive. It feels like a luxury car, but at a really affordable price. Thanks for listening!

  5. Moses Heidenreich 2024-10-02

I bought this car back in 2002 and have loved it ever since! It's been a great ride and lots of fun, especially during the snowy winters here in NE where it handles beautifully. I haven't had to spend much money on it, just the usual wear and tear stuff. We did have to replace the brakes twice and unfortunately all four door locks, which was a bit pricey. But overall, it's been a reliable performer. I recently bought a new car, but I can't bear to part with this one and plan to keep it until it really dies!
