2011 Infiniti G37 problems
The Infiniti G Line is a series of compact executive cars manufactured and marketed by Infiniti, a luxury division of Nissan, for the 1991–1996 and 1999–2016 model years — across four generations.
The first two generations of the Infiniti G (P10 and P11) were sedans based on the Nissan Primera. Beginning with its third generation (V35), the Infiniti G have been rebadged versions of the Nissan Skyline line of sedans and coupes that were exported to the United States and Canada. The fourth generation (V36) introduced the hardtop coupe convertible. The Nissan FM platform, used with the third and fourth generations (V35 and V36) of the Infiniti G, also underpins the Nissan 370Z and has shared components with the Infiniti M, Infiniti EX, and Infiniti FX.
Infiniti established a new naming convention beginning with the 2014 model year; all passenger cars are designated by the letter "Q," while sport-utility model names begin with "QX." The Infiniti G was to have been replaced by the Infiniti Q50, but the G37 was revived as the Q40 beginning with the 2015 model year.

Common 2011 Infiniti G37 problems
The 2011 Infiniti G37 has been reported to have several common problems by its owners, primarily related to the interior accessories, engine, and fuel system.
- Interior Accessories Problems: The 2011 Infiniti G37 has experienced a high number of interior accessories issues, with six complaints reported to CarComplaints.com. These problems include the navigation system display showing "HDD not function" and requiring dealer intervention, as well as electrical issues that cause the car to shut down completely, affecting both the car and its electrical systems.
- Engine Problems: Two engine problems have been reported for the 2011 Infiniti G37. The most significant issue is the galley gasket issue, which has been reported to affect a high proportion of pre-2012 G37s and is expensive to fix. This issue has been reported to affect the 2011 model year significantly, with many owners reporting that it is inevitable that they will have to put in a few thousand dollars to fix the issue. However, some owners have reported that the issue has been fixed in later production 2011 models.
- Fuel System Problems: Two fuel system problems have been reported for the 2011 Infiniti G37. These issues include a fast rattling sound coming from the passenger side engine bay, which has been reported to be around the battery area. This noise only comes into fruition when the car is in Drive (D) and idling (~500 rpm), and it goes away if the car starts accelerating. On Park and Neutral, the sound is very faint and almost not noticeable. This issue has been reported to be fixed by checking the retainer clip on the Washer Fluid Tank Stem/Neck and replacing it if it is broken or loose.
In summary, the 2011 Infiniti G37 has been reported to have several common problems related to the interior accessories, engine, and fuel system. These issues include the navigation system display showing "HDD not function," electrical issues that cause the car to shut down completely, the galley gasket issue, and a fast rattling sound coming from the passenger side engine bay. While some of these issues have been reported to affect a high proportion of pre-2012 G37s, some owners have reported that the issues have been fixed in later production 2011 models.

I've researched enough about the takata air bag recall and the 2011 infiniti g37 is a part of that recall. It's mind boggling just thinking about the dangers of my vehicle that I need to get to and from work daily as well putting anyone on the passenger seat. I don't even feel safe driving the vehicle anymore. What can be done, its obvious it's not working properly. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

AIR BAGS PROBLEM

- VIN: JN1CV6FE7BM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: Airbag warning light came on. Took the car to the dealer and they gave me an estimate of $10,858.62 to repair the airbag! I feel that this is a defect and should be a recall item as I have since read several complaints of the same exact problem! This car has been kept in the garage and only driven when the weather is beautiful! it only has 29,100 miles on it. We bought it from the Infinity dealer in Annapolis, MD in 2012.
AIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS,SEATS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-06-05
- VIN: JN1CV6AR0BM
- Components: AIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS,SEATS
- Summary: I have been having issues with my passenger airbag warning light. The issue is warning light will not go out. I took my vehicle to an Infiniti dealer for a diagnostic. Dealer found code DTC B1018 OCS unit failure. Much to my disbelief and, dealer recommends new passenger side air bag diagnoses module and lower seat frame before further diagnosis. What really angered me was the price to repair a safety issue on this vehicle that wasn't caused by an accident or repair . The quoted module price was $1275.00, price for lower seat frame is $7695.00. Note, this is the price for parts and didn't include labor. At that point, I didn't ask what the labor cost was because I was flabbergasted and taken aback by the the excessively high price for repair. After reading 100's of forums, many are having the same issue with their Infinities and other Nissan Vehicles. Infinity and NHTSA must be aware of this massive problem and Infiniti/Nissan needs to correct this flaw in engineering at the companies expense. We as consumers who pay a lot for these vehicles should be protected. My concern is I have lupus and Arthritis and have chronic pain daily and need my car for numerous doctors visits. Since my health diagnosis I haven't been able to work the past seven years and can't afford to pay over $ 9000.00 to fix a otherwise good running vehicle but also can't afford to get into a car accident because the airbag will not deploy. Since I do have an illness, a car accident without a working airbag system my injuries or worst would be exacerbated by this Infiniti/Nissan flaw in engineering. Please advise as I need assistance with getting my car repaired.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-05-01
- VIN: JN1CV6AP2BM
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Sunroof drain has malfunctioned multiple times, even after having the Infiniti dealer replace with brand new ones. This was a very expensive repair and has already failed again. Upon searching the internet, this is a known, common problem and Infiniti should have recalled this issue. Water has leaked into my car onto my electronics. Luckily, nothing major has occurred while I was driving like it has for other owners of this same vehicle, but my power functions are malfunctioning because of this flawed component. The vehicle has been inspected and repaired by an Infiniti dealer, who also told me that this is a very common issue with this vehicle and sometimes causes the car to shut off while it is being driven. There are no warnings for this issue - just a bunch of water leaking straight into the car and underneath the floorboard, where many electrical components are housed.
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-11-30
- VIN: JN1CV6AR0BM
- Components: AIR BAGS

Mechanic stated issue needs to be fixed because airbag won't deploy in an accident. My car only has 76,618 miles driven and this is a serious safety issue that must be rectified. Please advise.
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-09-26
- VIN: JN1CV6AR9BM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: The occupant sensor in the front passenger seat has failed, rendering the Supplemental Restraint System (airbag) compromised and partially nonfunctional. Upon inspection, dealer states that they cannot ensure that entire SRS will function properly unless repaired. The proposed solution is to replace the Occupant Sensor Unit at a cost of $4,905. The SRS indicator light remains on as I have not agreed with Infiniti Dealer's proposed costly replacement. This puts the driver and any/all occupants at risk. There is a reasonable amount of internet discussion concerning this problem/safety issue with Infiniti.
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-01
- VIN: JN1CV6EK0BM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: Passenger occupancy sensor failed while on a road trip. The dealer wanted $5000 to replace the whole seat.
AIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-09
- VIN: JN1CV6FE3BM

- Summary: Error code B1018 for occupant sensor unit failed. Infiniti of Sarasota estimate is $11,013 to repair. Cannot justify spending that much but feel unsafe with airbag deployment. Need information on a resolution.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-06-18
- VIN: JN1CV6FE2BM
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: I just bought this vehicle from carmax mid May 2022 and a little over 1 month now the car completely died. I drove it the prior day came home parked it in my driveway as aways and the next day when I had to go to work I was not able to unlock car doors with the fob key. I then proceeded to trying to unlock the car door with the option on the door handle and that did not work either. At that point I was already irritated and had to call work to let them know my current situation. I then tried the manual option key to open the door which worked but everything was dead. No lights no noise no clicking from the engine when push to start just dead. I assumed that I was sold a vehicle with a bad battery which already has me questioning carmaxs point inspection before selling a vehicle. This is already causing such an inconvenience on me but I need my vehicle for work so I then call my car insurance due to having roadside assistance and let them know I need a jump start because I’m really hopping that’s what it is. When roadside assistance arrives they set up the cables and then I’m told to start my vehicle. OMG. It did not start. At that point I was now feeling mad, taking advantage of, annoyed. Why am I going through something like this when I just bought the car over 1 month ago. Yes I know it’s a pre owned vehicle but having 62k miles you’d think you’d avoid these situations since they are always saying low mileage is better and it was still priced tagged at 23K at carmax and with financing well you get the picture. The roadside gentleman tells me that this car has seems to have something major that caused it to just die. I’m just like WOW. This is ridiculous. Now I have a complete dead vehicle that needs to be towed and I guess I have to contact carmax to let them know. This has been a nightmare and so extremely inconvenient on me and I might as well just mentioned that I also had the worst experience in my life buying this vehicle with carmax. I feel played.
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-12-28
- VIN: JN1CV6AP6BM
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: Coming to any situation where I need to change lanes or enter a road . Trying to excel and press the gas pedal the car sort of bogs out and slows you or pulled back. Making it a danger , fatal possibly. You excellent on the gas paddle for both situations I've talked about here, and most cars excellent when you press the gas. The 2011 infinity g37 does not. It slows and pulls you back creating a detrimental situation
AIR BAGS,SEATS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-01-28
- VIN: Jn1cv6ek3bm
- Components: AIR BAGS,SEATS
- Summary: My passenger air bag light started suddenly flashing on the instrument panel while a passenger was in the seat. The air bag light sensor shows the air bag isn’t on, even when a passenger is seated. This causes concern because if an accident occurs, it is likely the air bag will not deploy as it appears to be disabled by the sensor. The has been a widely reported problem and should be recalled due to faulty sensor.
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-04-21
- VIN: JN1CV6AP4BM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: My 2011 Infiniti G37 passenger airbag light comes on and off even if there is no people sitting. And even with passengers the lights come on and off, Im worried that one day something happens and the airbag wont deploy. I have done some research and I found out that there is a lot of people that have the same issues. In case of an accident airbag might not deploy, Infiniti has not issue a safety recall for the airbags, and there are complains from 2011 since it came out and there still no recalls in 2022.
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-02-06
- VIN: JN1CV6FE1BM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: The contact owns a 2011 Infiniti G37. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the air bag sensor warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure; however, provided no additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-01-24
- VIN: JN1CV6AR1BM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: Passenger front air bag not activating due to a faulty seat sensor. It puts the passenger at risk of air bags not deploying and potentially causing harm or death. This is a well known problem with this particular vehicle and cost 7000 plus to fix at dealership because the entire seat needs replaced. My airbag light has been blinking and when a passenger sits in the front seat...the airbag still shows as off. 7000 plus is a ridiculous amount when its something i believe should be corrected by a recall. Here is one a few websites that other owners have dealt with the same issue: https://www.carproblemzoo.com/infiniti/g37/air-bag-light-on-problems.php
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-02-01
- VIN: JN1CV6FE1BM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: My passenger seat belt light started blinking and the dealer said I needed a new chip in the seat at a cost of $8,000. I went online to see what other Infiniti car owners were experiencing and it turns out this is happening with all their cars. I can not tell if the airbag is working or will work if I have an accident. This seems like it should be covered by a recall. Please advise.
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-06-25
- VIN: JN1CV6FE0BM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: Airbag sensor bad. Due to poor design of location of sensor, The repair for this sensor involves the complete removal and replacement of the front passenger seat. The cost of the repair for this sensor estimate from dealership is $4200. Neither Infiniti nor Nissan will financially assist with this obscene repair cost due to design and location of sensor. Without this repair, no airbag in the car will work as intended. We were told that should the driver continue to drive the vehicle without the repair, the airbag could spontaneously deploy, potentially causing great bodily harm to driver and the public. The other issue that is likely to occur is that should the vehicle be involved in an accident, none of the airbags will deploy as intended. The car can not be driven at this time. The airbag light flickered and then stayed on beginning June 2022. The Infiniti dealership in Clearwater, Florida inspected the issue and diagnosed with repair estimate. They offer no other remedy nor any further financial assistance to repair this vehicle from regional nor corporate offices of both Infinit and Nissan.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-11-26
- VIN: JN1CV6AR2BM
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: I have an electrical dash board that controls my speedometer, gas milage and all the major checks lights that is NOT WORKING. This is the second time I have had this problem and when you research the problem on the internet or YouTube, the infinity owners are saying its a major problem with the car and the computer system. Why hasn't infinity recalled this problem?
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-06-25
- VIN: JN1CV6FE0BM
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: Air bag light is flashing, passenger side air bag not engaged. Available for inspection. This is an inherent safety risk for anyone sitting in passenger side front seat, I have to ask all of my passengers to sit in the back. Problem confirmed by two dealerships, with the second happily quoting over $4K to repair as the entire seat must be replaced. Light has been on for some time, online tips to reset have not worked.
