2006 Chevrolet Uplander problems
The Chevrolet Uplander is a minivan manufactured and marketed by the Chevrolet division of General Motors for model years of 2005–2009, replacing the Venture and the Astro. Marketed over a single generation, the Uplander was offered in short and long wheelbase variations — each with foldable and removable second and third row seating; a V-6 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission.
Heavily based on GM's predecessor minivans, the Uplander was initially marketed with those vehicles, the Venture and Astro. The minivan and its rebadged variants, the Saturn Relay, Buick Terraza, and Pontiac Montana SV6, were manufactured at GM's Doraville Assembly and were discontinued in 2008 when GM left the minivan market, ended production and closed the Doraville Assembly plant.
The Uplander was marketed in the United States, Canada, Chile, Mexico, and the Middle East.

I must say, I am quite impressed with the luxurious interior of our fully loaded LT. While the exterior may be a bit unusual, it is still quite tolerable. As for performance, I think it's a bit of a stretch to describe any mini-van as 'fun to drive', unless of course, you haven't driven anything else. However, my van does accelerate well and provides reliable safety, which is exactly why I purchased it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trading in my Benz for another van...

We are thrilled with our new Chevy Unplander Mini Van! It has everything we were looking for and more. We also own a Chevy Lumina Van, but we have noticed a significant improvement with the Uplander. Chevy has truly outdone themselves with this new model.
-
I bought my Uplander brand new off the lot after doing extensive research. I felt like I knew more about the van than the salesperson! Luckily, I haven't had any major repairs done and any minor repairs were covered under warranty. I even purchased an extended warranty to ensure my peace of mind for the next few years. I highly recommend this van to anyone, especially those with kids or grandkids. Speaking of which, my 5 grandkids absolutely love riding in it, especially with the great DVD player that allows them to watch movies and play video games. I've taken it on long trips from FL to OH three times and have always felt safe and comfortable. It even handles well in the rain! Plus, there's plenty of storage space for all your needs. The only drawback is the leg room up front for my husband, but since I'm the primary driver, it's not a problem. If you're in the market for a nice van, I highly recommend this one!

I love this car/van/suv because of its interior design. It's a great family car, and the rear air conditioning is fantastic. Even without all the bells and whistles, the standard equipment alone offers a lot.

We recently upgraded to an Uplander from our Chevy Venture due to high mileage. We absolutely love everything about it and are proud to own a Chevy! One thing that really impressed me was the ample leg room in all three rows, even with the captain's chairs in the middle. Additionally, the seats are nice and solid, so you don't sink into them when you sit down. The DVD player is fantastic for long trips, and the fuel economy is excellent! We are absolutely thrilled with our Uplander!

The wheel bearing has been replaced five times since October and another replacement is needed. Additionally, there are transmission issues. It is worth noting that this is a 2006 Pontiac Montana, which is the same as the Uplander.

The first new car we bought was always bought used. Unfortunately, we had problems with this van from day one. It seems that Chevy has a persistent issue with the electrical system in this van, but they are not willing to acknowledge it. Despite being in the shop three times for the same problem with the gas gauge, it was not fixed until recently. Even after that, we had to take it back to the shop for another electrical problem. I noticed a few things that could be improved with this van. Firstly, it would be great if it had more power to merge onto the highway more quickly. Additionally, the captain chairs could benefit from having armrests and more room from the edge of the seat to the side wall. I also found it a bit tricky to direct the air vents to blow directly on the driver. When it comes to the third row bench, it would be helpful if it could stow away more easily or be removed and put back in without too much difficulty. As a woman, I found it almost impossible to do it alone. Lastly, I found that there wasn't enough room behind the third row for all of my groceries and I had to stack them on the third row seat. I also noticed that there were quite a few blind spots, especially for short drivers and when the third row seats are up. This alone has caused me to have a few close calls on the road. Lastly, I did experience some issues with the DVD player skipping on our last trip, even with a new DVD in it.

If you're considering buying this van, I would strongly advise against it. Despite being used for less than a year, it has already been in the shop six times and has cost over $1500 in repairs. The brakes shake the entire vehicle when you depress them, and the steering grinds when turning right. The electronic doors are also a safety hazard, as they have closed on and crushed a gallon of milk. Additionally, the reverse warning system is faulty and has caused me to back into parked cars. The DVD player stopped working shortly after purchase, and the interior noise is unbearable. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this van at all costs.

I am disappointed with this vehicle overall. The poor acceleration greatly affects my daily 50-mile commute. Additionally, there are two blind spots in the back of the van when the 3rd row seating is in place. However, I am confident that I will be able to find a suitable replacement within a year. Perhaps the Explorer would have been a better choice for me.
