The contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph, the rear end and front passenger’s side of the vehicle would vibrate with an abnormal, clunking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed him that the rear suspension trailing arm was defective and needed to be replaced. WE HAVE SERVICED THIS VEHICLE ALL THE TIME FROM WHEN WE PURCHASED IN DECEMBER OF 2008. WHEN WE PICKED THE VAN UP WE DIDN'T MAKE IT MORE THAN 4 BLOCKS WHEN IT STOPPED MOVING. NOW THE TRANSMISSION MECHANIC SAYS THE TRANSMISSION HAS OVERHEATED AND NEEDS A COMPLETE REBUILD FOR $2,600.00. BOTH TIMES, THANKFULLY YEARS APART, WE WERE GOING STRAIGHT AND DIDN'T HIT ANYONE BECAUSE OF IT AS NO ONE WAS AROUND. THIS THING IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE. AND WHY WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT HAS IT NOT BEEN RECALLED. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AND I'M NOT READY TO BUY ANOTHER CAR. BY THE WAY, I DON'T KNOW WHY IT WAS EVEN INSTALLED. IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY WORK. WE USED TO LIVE IN NORTHERN UTAH AND WE LIVED AT THE LAST STREET UP THE MOUNTAIN. WHEN THE ROAD WAS VERY ICY WE'D HAVE TO TURN THE STABILITY CONTROL OFF IN ORDER TO GET HOME. IT ACTUALLY MADE DRIVING IN THE SNOW/ICE HARDER AND MORE DANGEROUS. WE HAVE YET TO TAKE THE UPLANDER IN TO BE FIXED YET AGAIN AS WE HAVE HAD TOO MANY REPAIRS ON VEHICLES LATELY AND JUST DON'T WANT TO SPEND MORE. SO, NO DIAGNOSIS HAS BEEN MADE AS OF TODAY.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

- Summary: WHILE DRIVING NORTH ON DAGSBORO ROAD I CROSSED THE RAILROAD TRACKS AND THE REAR AXLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BROKE CATAPULTING THE VEHICLE INTO A TELEPHONE POLE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO TURN OVER TWO TIMES. I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS TURNING END OVER END OR SIDEWISE. THE TELEPHONE POLE BROKE OFF AT THE BOTTOM AND ALSO AT THE TOP LEAVING THE TOP HANGING ON THE WIRES. I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT THE LEFT REAR TIRE HAD COME OFF UNTIL THE CAR WAS BEING MOVED TO THE SALVAGE YARD. THE STATE OF DELAWARE UNIFORM COLLISION REPORT INDICATES THAT THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT WAS INATTENTIVE DRIVING. I TOLD CPL ALBERT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT THAT I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED BUT I DID REMEMBER BEING SLEEPY AND MENTIONING THAT I WAS PLANNING TO STOP AT THE SMYRNA REST AREA TO TAKE A NAP. THE REST AREA WAS AT LEAST AN HOURS DRIVE AHEAD OF US SO I DIDN'T THINK I WAS IN ANY IMMEDIATE DANGER OF FALLING ASLEEP. I HAVE COMMUNICATED WITH CPL ALBERT SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THE ACCIDENT IN AN EFFORT TO HAVE THE REASON FOR THE ACCIDENT CHANGED FROM INATTENTIVE DRIVING TO MECHANICAL FAILURE. WHEN I SHOWED THE PICTURE OF THE BROKEN AXEL TO MY MECHANIC HE SUGGESTED THAT THE CAR WAS CATAPULTED ON TO THE TELEPHONE POLE. I AM SCHEDULED TO GO TO THE 'JUSTICE OF THE PEACE COURT OF THE STATE OF DELEWARE IN AND FOR SUSSEX COUNTY COURT NO. 3 ,23730 SHORTLY RD. NOW I HAVE 102,000 MILES AND THE LIGHTS ARE COMING ON AGAIN. CHEVY SHOULD DO A RECALL THIS IS CRAP THAT THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED SO MANY TIME AND IT IS ONLY 7 YRS. OLD. IT IS COMING ON THE MOST NOW WHEN IN REVERSE AND TURNING, OR TURNING SHARP GOING FORWARD.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.

Sorry to hear that you had to replace your 9 year old Venture, but it sounds like the Uplander LS is a good follow-on. While it may lack some of the comfort features you were used to, it still has a lot to offer. The seats may not be as wide or plush as the Venture, but they're still comfortable. Plus, it's great to hear that it's quieter on the highway and gets about 26 MPG. Handling is excellent and the steering is just right. Overall, it's a great looking van and a pleasure to drive.

Great value! For the money, you couldn't get anything even close to the roominess and comfort of this vehicle. Although the gas mileage is not great in the city, it's pretty good on the highway, which is expected given the size of the vehicle. The engine may be a bit too big for the vehicle, but I would gladly sacrifice some power for better gas mileage. I bought the basic version with nothing extra, and it still feels luxurious compared to what the standard was just a few years ago. It comes with power windows and locks, remote, heated mirrors, OnStar, CD, and satellite radio.

This van is one of the best ever. As the last van Chevy ever made, it has a special place in my heart. It runs and drives smoothly, with the engine still going strong after 193,000 miles, many of which were spent towing a camper through the Rocky Mountains. It always delivers and rarely needs maintenance. However, it does tend to consume a lot of gas. On the bright side, it drives well in the snow and the traction control always keeps the driver safe. If you need a reliable van, this is the one. I love my Uplander and will never forget it.

I recently experienced an issue with my 2-day-old van where the defrost blower stopped working on the coldest night of the year. However, the dealer was very helpful and took care of the issue by providing me with a rental. I did notice that the passenger door and fender don't fit perfectly at the windshield, with a big gap on one side and no gap on the other. The dealer is currently looking into whether this can be fixed. I have also noticed a rough idle sometimes with a gentle surge when I have a foot on the brake. Overall, I appreciate the dealer's assistance and hope to have these issues resolved soon.

Although we initially purchased the vehicle with 93,000 miles on it, we have unfortunately experienced a number of issues with it. Despite having to replace the transmission three times, as well as the alternator and starter, we are now experiencing issues with the lights flickering while driving. On a few occasions, we have even had trouble turning the vehicle off, with the radio continuing to play until we unplugged the battery. While we have always been fans of Chevy vehicles, we are now considering purchasing a Toyota or Kia instead. It is unfortunate that American-made vehicles do not always meet the same quality standards as foreign-made vehicles, which are often more reliable.

Although I purchased this car 8 months ago, I have experienced several issues with the front end. Additionally, I find it inconvenient that the center seats do not recline and lack armrests, while also being positioned too close to the side doors. In comparison to my previous van, I miss the storage room under the back seat. While the car does offer good gas mileage and ample space, the overall design leaves much to be desired. Based on my experience, I would not consider purchasing another Chevrolet, especially not an Uplander.
