The Chevrolet Uplander is a minivan manufactured and marketed by the Chevrolet division of General Motors for model years of 2005–2009, replacing the Venture and the Astro. Marketed over a single generation, the Uplander was offered in short and long wheelbase variations — each with foldable and removable second and third row seating; a V-6 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission.

Heavily based on GM's predecessor minivans, the Uplander was initially marketed with those vehicles, the Venture and Astro. The minivan and its rebadged variants, the Saturn Relay, Buick Terraza, and Pontiac Montana SV6, were manufactured at GM's Doraville Assembly and were discontinued in 2008 when GM left the minivan market, ended production and closed the Doraville Assembly plant.

The Uplander was marketed in the United States, Canada, Chile, Mexico, and the Middle East.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME WHERE IT WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC WROTE IN HIS REPORT THAT FINE GRANULES IN THE COOLANT RESERVOIR INDICATED THAT TEMPORARY BLOCK SEAL HAD BEEN UTILIZED, WHICH INDICATED PREVIOUS FAILURES WITH THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT DID NOT KNOW THE SPECIFIC CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. IT WAS AT THAT TIME OUT OF WARRANTEE. IT IS NOW IN THE SHOP AGAIN FOR THE SAME ISSUE BECAUSE SINCE THE PROBLEM HAS NEVER BEEN FIXED AND I WAS TOLD THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH GM AND THEY BASICALLY REFUSE TO OWN UP TO THE PROBLEM OR ACTUALLY FIXING WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE BUT THE CHEVY TRAILBLAZER HAS HAD THE SAME IDENTICAL ISSUE AND THERE WAS A RECALL SITING A SAFETY CONCERN. I DO HAVE PICTURES (RESENT ONES) AS TO MY CONCERN BUT I ALSO HAVE SOME PICTURES FROM YEARS AGO THAT I ACTUALLY SHOWED TO THE DEALERSHIPS, AND STILL GM AS WELL AS THE DEALERS ARE NOT WANTING TO ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM. LUCKILY SOMEONE HEARD HIM AND RESCUED HIM. HE WAS RINGING WET WITH SWEAT AND WAS SEVERELY DEHYDRATED. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT IF SOMEONE HAD NOT HEARD HIM BANGING ON THE DOORS.

  • Summary: THE BRAUN CORPORATION HAS NOTIFIED NHTSA ABOUT A DEFECT IN CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2008 GENERAL MOTORS MOBILITY CONVERSION, HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE LOW FLOOR MINIVANS. DURING CONVERSION, THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER SIDE TRAILING ARM MODIFICATION MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ADEQUATELY WELDED.
  • Consequence: A SQUEAKING OR CLUNKING NOISE MAY DEVELOP. THE TRAILING ARM BUSHINGS MAY PREMATURELY WEAR AND THE TRAILING ARM MAY FRACTURE OR SEPARATE, ALLOWING THE REAR AXLE TO BECOME PARTIALLY SEPARATED FROM THE CHASSIS INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

    The warranty is good, but it falls short of Kia's. It would be great to see Asian companies push GM to provide better coverage instead of their current 3/36 policy. Some models have poorly designed seats that lack armrests, and the standard model doesn't come with side airbags. The engine is cramped despite the large front end. However, it's worth noting that these cars are affordable to buy, especially if you're looking for a one-year-old model. They might just be the best-kept secret in the market.

    In the 6 months that I have owned this van, it has unfortunately been in the shop 5 times. Despite purchasing it as a certified used vehicle, the lemon law does not apply, leaving me with limited options due to the low resale and trade-in value. However, I strongly advise considering other van options as the cheaper price is not worth the inconvenience. Based on my experience, I will not be purchasing another Chevy in the future.

    I recently purchased this vehicle and drove 2000 miles to Florida. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience. With a full load of luggage and 4 adult passengers, I was able to achieve a fuel economy of 25-26. The ride was extremely comfortable, even better than my previous Camry. The only minor complaints I had were that the passenger side armrest could have been longer, and it was a bit difficult to access the third row seating. However, I really liked the exterior design of the van, which was not the typical minivan look. In my opinion, this van deserves a better review from the experts based on my experience so far.

    My family and I really enjoyed the Chevrolet Uplander. It has a great look both inside and out. The van was very reliable, with the only issue being a power door that ran for a few extra seconds, which was a minor inconvenience. If you're in the market for a stylish van with good performance, I highly recommend it! And if you need extra room, the EXT version is a great option. However, if you're looking for a van with more practicality, the Honda might be a better fit for you, as it has seats that fold into the floor. While the Uplander does have a similar feature, it's not as effective. Having worked with all three vans, I still prefer the Uplander, but I do think that Chevrolet could put more thought into their next van!

    The Uplander styling caught my eye when I saw it in a parking lot. I really like the hood styling and thought it was an SUV until I noticed the sliding doors. The exterior and interior styling are both very nice. Although, some things could be improved, like the cheap plastic on some parts. Additionally, the seats in the front and second row could go back further, and the middle row does not leave much leg room, especially for adults. On the other hand, I really like the instrument panel. However, the cruise control should be higher up on the side of the wheel instead of near the bottom. The ride and handling are very good, and with the rear seats out, this vehicle works perfectly for cargo. The sliding doors make access easy. It's like an SUV with van features.
