2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext problems
The Chevrolet TrailBlazer (also known as Trailblazer) is a mid-size SUV produced by Chevrolet, a division of General Motors. The nameplate was first used in North America from 2001 to 2008; in 2009, it was replaced by the Traverse, as a crossover SUV. In 2011, production of a newly-redesigned version of the Trailblazer for the Asian and Brazilian markets began.
Blazer trim line (1998)
The TrailBlazer name was first introduced for the 1999 model year as an upscale trim level of the compact 4-door Chevrolet S-10 Blazer. It offered additional features on top of the previously top-of-the-line Chevrolet S-10 Blazer LT trim level, including an AM/FM stereo with single-disc CD player and optional remote cassette player, OnStar, color-keyed front and rear bumpers, side cladding, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, upgraded alloy wheels, a full-size spare tire and wheel, and upgraded cloth seating surfaces with power front bucket seats. Options such as a Bose premium sound system, leather-trimmed seating surfaces with heated front seats, power sunroof, and gold accents for the exterior emblems were all available for the original TrailBlazer trim package. The TrailBlazer trim was discontinued after 2001, when an all-new TrailBlazer model was introduced as a mid-size SUV. Production of the S-10 Blazer overlapped until the 2005 model year.
First generation (KC; 2001)
The first-generation TrailBlazer is based on a truck platform officially known as GMT360, with all models having four-wheel-drive layout as an option with both automatic engagement and the more traditional "Auto," "2-High," "4-High," and "4-Low" gearings, except the SS model which features an all-wheel-drive system. The TrailBlazer features an independent front suspension, and a five-link rear suspension. A G80 locking rear differential is available as an option on all models except for the SS, which has a G86 LSD as standard. An LTZ trim level had upgraded interior features (leather), upgraded sound system (Bose), and alloy wheels. All TrailBlazers came factory-equipped with a detachable towing hitch.
The TrailBlazer was updated in 2005 for the 2006 model year. An updated front fascia on all models (except for the base version) and new interior trim were included with the refresh. The SS received trim-specific front and rear fascias plus color-matched side skirts.

MINE HAS HAD A HOLE FOR A WHILE NOW. IT CAN LITERALLY LEAK OVER 10 GALLONS OF GAS A DAY IF YOU FILL THE TANK TO FULL. EVEN IF YOU DON'T THE SMELL OF GAS IN AND AROUND THE VEHICLE IS TERRIBLE. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON BECAUSE OF IT. IT RUNS LIKE CRAP BECAUSE OF IT. WHAT'S MORE DANGEROUS THAN SPILLING GAS EVERYWHERE YOU GO!? SOME PEOPLE HAVE HAD CHEVY PAY FOR THE REPAIRS ON THERE 2004 TRAILBLAZER. LOOK IT SHOULDN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR VIN# IS OR HOW MANY MILES AT THIS POINT (I JUST HIT 150,000) THE GAS TANKS ON THESE VEHICLES ARE FAULTY, THEY'RE DANGEROUS, THEY'RE EXSPENSIVE. I SURELY DONT HAVE $800-$1500 LAYING AROUND TO FIX A PART THAT IS KNOWN AND PROVEN TO BE BAD. WE ALL KNOW TBEY ARE BAD, CHEVROLET KNOWS IT, THE NHTSA KNOWS IT. THE KICKER IS YOU CANT EVEN FIND USED GAS TANKS FOR THESE THINGS TO SAVE MONEY. EVERY SINGLE ONE IS JUNK OR ALREADY REPLACED ONE THAT WAS JUNK. IT IS COMPLETELY CRAZY THAT THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES WHERE NEVER PROBABLY TAKEN CARE OF IN REGARDS TO THIS ISSUE WITH THE GAS TANKS

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with you. I used to be a loyal Expedition owner and naturally went to them when it was time for a new ride. However, after seeing the cost and the new interior, I changed my mind. I decided to go with the TrailBlazer instead and I'm so glad I did! It has so much style and personality. Plus, it's not a minivan and it responds quickly when you need it to.
-
Great to hear that you enjoyed the highway cruiser!
-
This vehicle is awesome! It handles great in all weather, especially the snow. It is a very smooth ride, all the way to the back seat. It is a great family vehicle. There is tons of space. We are very pleased with everything the Ext Trailblazer has to offer. The only negative thing I have to say is that it isn't very good on gas but that comes with buying an SUV. They did a great job on all the amenities.
-
This SUV was designed with you in mind. Finally, an SUV that offers all the comforts and performance of its larger counterpart at a more affordable price. It's an excellent vehicle for the cost.
-
Love at first drive! This vehicle is exactly what you need to carry your kids to daycare, school and work, load all kinds of cargo, and enjoy driving all the time. It has a luxury ride, it's beautiful, and roomy. Your grandson will love the opera-style 3rd row seating. He will have lots of room to play and can see outside with no problem. There is plenty of power.

Rear air compressor, fan motor, complete brake system (twice!), front wheel bearings and now, the transmission is shot! All at 48,500 miles! It's been a really frustrating experience. The car tends to slip even in mildly wet weather and has poor traction overall. The creature comforts are average at best. I wouldn't recommend this car to anyone, no matter what the price. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

So far, so good! I just got the truck this week and I absolutely love the looks. It puts my 2002 Blazer to shame! The truck handles great and there's loads of space. Although I would be a bit happier if the 3rd row seats folded all the way down.
Aiden Heathcote 2024-11-10
The build quality of the vehicle seems to be excellent. However, I was a little disappointed with the performance of the 5.3 V-8. Additionally, I found the way the vehicle sits up in the rear to be a bit of a letdown. While seating for 6 is tight, it is still acceptable. Seating for 7 is a bit of a stretch, but it can still work.
Zane Bahringer 2024-08-02
I've only had my Trailblaze a short but my wife and I love it. I never thought I would buy another American vehicle until I test drove the Trailblazer. It had the best car for the money out of all the SUV's that I drove.
Tavares Macejkovic 2024-06-19
That's a nice SUV! Before taking it out, I would recommend testing the HVAC in the rear. Unfortunately, the heating for the 2nd and 3rd row passengers that come from the roof blows out cold air only. I took it back to the dealer twice, but the issue persisted. The first time, they said that GM is aware of the issue and they are working on a fix. The second time, GM told me that they had a fix and to bring it back. However, the dealer measured the heat from the floor to the vents and there was a 30 degree difference. GM said that this is acceptable, but I have contacted the BBB auto line to get an arbitrator involved. Additionally, my truck was delivered missing 2 quarts of oil from the factory. Overall, I have had a frustrating experience with GM customer service. I hope this information helps you make an informed decision.
