2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext problems

The Chevrolet TrailBlazer (also known as Trailblazer) is a mid-size SUV produced by Chevrolet, a division of General Motors. The nameplate was first used in North America from 2001 to 2008; in 2009, it was replaced by the Traverse, as a crossover SUV. In 2011, production of a newly-redesigned version of the Trailblazer for the Asian and Brazilian markets began.
Blazer trim line (1998)
The TrailBlazer name was first introduced for the 1999 model year as an upscale trim level of the compact 4-door Chevrolet S-10 Blazer. It offered additional features on top of the previously top-of-the-line Chevrolet S-10 Blazer LT trim level, including an AM/FM stereo with single-disc CD player and optional remote cassette player, OnStar, color-keyed front and rear bumpers, side cladding, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, upgraded alloy wheels, a full-size spare tire and wheel, and upgraded cloth seating surfaces with power front bucket seats. Options such as a Bose premium sound system, leather-trimmed seating surfaces with heated front seats, power sunroof, and gold accents for the exterior emblems were all available for the original TrailBlazer trim package. The TrailBlazer trim was discontinued after 2001, when an all-new TrailBlazer model was introduced as a mid-size SUV. Production of the S-10 Blazer overlapped until the 2005 model year.
First generation (KC; 2001)
The first-generation TrailBlazer is based on a truck platform officially known as GMT360, with all models having four-wheel-drive layout as an option with both automatic engagement and the more traditional "Auto," "2-High," "4-High," and "4-Low" gearings, except the SS model which features an all-wheel-drive system. The TrailBlazer features an independent front suspension, and a five-link rear suspension. A G80 locking rear differential is available as an option on all models except for the SS, which has a G86 LSD as standard. An LTZ trim level had upgraded interior features (leather), upgraded sound system (Bose), and alloy wheels. All TrailBlazers came factory-equipped with a detachable towing hitch.
The TrailBlazer was updated in 2005 for the 2006 model year. An updated front fascia on all models (except for the base version) and new interior trim were included with the refresh. The SS received trim-specific front and rear fascias plus color-matched side skirts.

- Summary: Brakes failed for no apparent reason around 8:00 am that morning. My friend and I was driving to my home in his 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer after many stops that morning. We was on the interstate doing 65 MPH. I noticed the traffic ahead approaching and I said "cars" indicating to my friend to slow down. He said "I have no brakes!" We narrowly missed the first cars and while readjusting we came into contact with the driver side of three vehicles rolling us on our side! I broke both my arms escaping thankfully with my life. We had no idea what suddenly and unexpectedly lost brakes. Weeks afterwards I started reading about the stabilitrac and steering sensor on the 1 of many Chevrolet vehicle defect issues. Around that year and I believe was the problem. I have been out of work and tried to explain this to people with no reply. I read an article about Chevrolet told about the issue and refused a recall. Senator Blumenthal requested an investigation but I haven't seen anything after a judge requested a Chevrolet CEO deposed. If this vehicle has these dangerous problems please know that it almost killed my friend and i. https://gmauthority.com/blog/2021/03/u-s-senator-asks-nhtsa-to-investigate-gm-over-faulty-steering-sensor/ Thanks if anyone is listening. POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-05-22
- VIN: 1GNDS13S262
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: Several months ago, I was at a fast food drive up window. I had my drivers side window down while paying for my food and receiving my food. It was down pouring and the inside of my door got pretty wet. I wiped off the rain as best as I could but everything was soaked. The very next day the drivers side door controls started to go haywire. The window button stopped working and my door locks only worked occasionally until they stopped working all together. My side mirrors can no longer be adjusted from the drivers seat. I have to get out of the vehicle and manually adjust both driver and passenger side mirrors. I'm not sure if there is a short in the wiring from the rain or just what is going on. I asked a parts dealer to see how much it would cost to replace the drivers side door controls module and he was of no help except to say its a recall part because of moisture. I've looked this up and I see there was a recall but my VIN isn't on the recall list. I don't understand why my vehicle is excluded considering this appears to be exactly what this incident generated the recall in the first place. I further looked into the investigation you had on the Trailblazer's outside of the salt belt states having the same issues with the moisture and issues that arise from the damaged door controls. I'm not sure if I would be considered in the expanded recall but I'm certain I should be as this is exactly why my drivers side door controls failed. I feel this is a huge safety issue as i don't know if there is a electrical/wiring short and not being able to adjust the side mirrors is an impairment. There was no warning to let me know anything was wrong. The system just went out just that fast. Please advise me how to proceed with my next steps to get this resolved. Also, my low beams went completely out the other day and replacing the bulbs didn't fix that issue. I do have a recall scheduled for January to get the headlights fixed and I'd like them to fix both issues. Thank you.

MY CAR HAS RECENTLY STARTED GOING INTO LIMP MODE AT RANDOM DUE TO THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE. ONLY REMEDY FOR THIS PROBLEM IS DISCONNECTING THE WIRING HARNESS AND ALLOWING THE FUSE BOX AND ECM TO COOL DOWN. AND FINALLY, MY OIL FILLER TUBE SEAL BROKE AND OIL WAS SPITTING OUT INTO ENGINE BAY. COINCIDENTALLY, MY PCV VALVE TUBE HAD ALSO BROKEN, AND THE TUBE WAS HANGING LOOSE RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE OIL FILLER TUBE. AS A RESULT, PCV TUBING SUCKED UP A LARGE AMOUNT OF OIL INTO THE AIR INTAKE; WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATION INDICATING ANY PROBLEMS DURING THE TIME OF FAILURE. MY AIR INTAKE SYSTEM IS NEARLY RUINED (NOT TO MENTION THE $$$ I SHELLED OUT IN OIL) AND THE WEAR DOWN ON PARTS HAS BEEN DETRIMENTAL TO THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE. THIS CAR IS NOTHING BUT A CASH COW FOR GM. *TR

2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 6 recalls for different components of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2006-2007 Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer and GMC Envoy vehicles, and 2006 GMC Envoy XL and Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT vehicles. Fluid may enter into the driver's door master power window switch module, causing corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board, causing window switches to become inoperative. Previously, the affected vehicles may have had their master power window switch module treated with a protective coating, instead of having it replaced.
- Consequence: The protective coating may not eliminate the risk that the circuit board could short and result in a fire, even while the vehicle is unattended.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install a new driver's door switch module, free of charge. The recall began on November 2, 2015. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 15700.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2006-2009 Buick LaCrosse, 2006-2007 Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT, GMC Envoy XL, 2006-2008 Isuzu Ascender, and Saab 9-7x vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the headlamp driver module (HDM) may overheat and fail, causing the headlamps and daytime running lights to not illuminate.
- Consequence: Headlamps that do not illuminate reduce the driver's ability to see the roadway and reduce the vehicle's visibility to oncoming vehicles, both of which increase the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the HDM, free of charge. The recall began on May 17, 2016. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 or Pontiac customer service at 1-800-762-2737. GM's number for this recall is 14291.

- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2005-2007 SAAB 9-7x; 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL; and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier and Isuzu Ascender vehicles. Fluid may enter the driver's door master power window switch module, causing corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board. A short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to function intermittently or become inoperative. The short may also cause overheating, which could melt components of the door module, producing odor, smoke, or a fire.
- Consequence: A short in the circuit board could lead to a fire, increasing the risk of personal injury. A fire could occur even while the vehicle is not in use. As a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the remedy has been made.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the part number on the door module, and install a new door module if necessary, free of charge. Parts for the remedy are not currently available. An interim letter was mailed to owners in August 2014. A second owner letter will be mailed when parts are available. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), 1-800-462-8782 (GMC), 1-800-955-9007 (SAAB), and 1-800-255-6727 (Isuzu). GM's number for this recall is 14309. NOTE: This recall provides a new remedy for all vehicles covered by recall 13V-248. I bought this particular vehicle because it was one of the few that could fit my 3-year-old daughter's wheelchair inside without having to take it apart. It handles perfectly and the ride is as smooth as a luxury car!

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your SUV! It sounds like it's well-equipped and comfortable, just like a BMW. And it's great to hear that your daughters and grandchildren love it too!

If you take good care of the vehicle, it will serve you well. With 100K miles on the clock, the only replacements needed were the front wheel hub assembly and steering hydraulic, in addition to regular maintenance. The seats are plush and comfortable, with high-quality supple leather. Compared to other cars, this one has a very comfortable and ergonomic shape, providing a smooth ride. Although the interior quality may not be top-notch, the engine and transmission quality make up for it. It's a reliable car that's perfect for families, with spacious third-row seating. The fuel economy is decent for its size and weight, although not exceptional.

I couldn't believe the wonderful experience of driving the TrailBlazer LT. I traded in a truck for this SUV, and the experience has been the best. It's easier to drive than a car, and the comfort is very good. My family fits in and no complaints. The chairs, even the very last one at the back, are comfortable, even for long trips. We love it. Thanks GM!

I'm so glad you're interested in the Trailblazer! Out of the Ford Explorer and Dodge Durango, the Trailblazer is definitely the most powerful and spacious. Plus, its extra wide tires make it handle great in the snow. If you're looking for a newly redesigned SUV, Chevy is set to release one in 2007, so keep an eye out for that!

We purchased our 2006 Trailblazer about 3 years ago when it was already 3 years old. Unfortunately, we have had some issues with it since then. We had to replace the switch for the windows when they stopped working, and now the motor seems like it could give out at any moment. We also had to spend $400 to fix the heater fan, and the fuel gauge stopped working, which was quite a hassle since the whole fuel tank had to be dropped. However, Chevrolet has a recall for this issue and will reimburse half of the cost. Occasionally, the check engine light and 'skid' light come on, but they eventually turn off. Lastly, we have noticed some rusting on the doors. Despite these setbacks, we still enjoy driving our Trailblazer and hope to keep it running smoothly for years to come!

I purchased the car used three years ago with 43,000 miles on it. Since then, I have experienced a number of issues, including needing a new starter, driver's side window motor, heater wires that melted and required replacement (a $300 fix), a gas sensor that does not work (a $700 fix), two wheel bearings, a new battery, throttle body cleaning (as the car felt like it would die out when idling), and the back emblem falling off. However, it is worth noting that the car performs well in snowy conditions.

I purchased a 2006 Trailblazer EXT with 20,000 miles. Despite having taken it to the garage six times, the emissions light keeps coming on after about a week of driving. The garage has replaced sensors and fuel valves, but the issue persists. Additionally, the fuel gauge drops to empty when there is still a quarter tank of gas. Although I have taken the vehicle to a General Motors dealer, the issue remains unresolved. Do you have any suggestions for how to fix these problems?

Although I have owned my Trailblazer for a year, I regret to say that it has not met my expectations. Despite having front and rear air conditioning, it takes a considerable amount of time to cool down. Additionally, I have experienced issues with the power windows, which have malfunctioned twice, and the window moulding is loose. Furthermore, the gas mileage is subpar. However, the car does offer ample space, and the third seat is a great feature, albeit somewhat challenging to access.

To sum it up, I've been trying to return it since three days after I bought it. Unfortunately, in the past year, it has been in the shop at least 50 times. Just last week, it had to be taken in four times, and I have another appointment set up for next week. It's clear that this vehicle has some serious issues with its assembly and maintenance, and it's been a frustrating experience overall.
