IN MY CASE MY 1995 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN (WHICH I LOVE MIND YOU) WAS BEING CHECKED FOR A TRAILER TO BE HOOKED UP. WHEN THE PERSON PERFORMING THE INSPECTION ATTEMPTED TO TURN ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS IT CAUSED A MALFUNCTION WITH ALL OF MY TURN SIGNALS, BREAKS, HAZARDS(NO EQUIPMENT WAS ATTACHED TO THE TRUCK SO NO IT WASN'T A FAULTY CONNECTION TO THE TRAILER, THAT HAD NOT BEEN ATTACHED YET.) AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OF MESSING WITH SIGNALS AND PUSHING BUTTONS IT FINALLY RESET TO NORMAL. THIS FUNNY WIRING PROBLEM OCCURS EVERY TIME I TRY TO TURN ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS. UP TO THIS POINT I HAVE NOT HAD A NEED TO USE THEM BUT I AM AWARE THAT THEY WILL NOT WORK IF I ATTEMPT TO. MY ADVISE TO ANYONE READING THIS IS IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE WITH YOUR TURN SIGNALS MESS WITH THE HAZARD LIGHT BUTTON BEFORE YOU GO REPLACING FLASHERS AND BULBS. IT TOOK SEVERAL TIMES OF PUSHING THE HAZARD BUTTON AND TURNING THE SIGNALS ON AND OFF BEFORE THEY STARTED TO WORK AGAIN. SEAT COLLAPSE CAUSED BY SEAT SEPARATION AT LEFT FRONT SEAT TRACK ATTACHMENT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT PAN. MATERIAL FAILURE OF SEAT FRAME RESULTING IN BOLT ATTACHMENT RIPPING FREE OF SHEET METAL SEAT BOTTOM. THE SEAT IS UNSTABLE AND RIGHT FRONT MOUNT FAILURE IS IMINENT. NO REPAIRS ATTEMPTED YET BUT FAILURE APPEARS TO BE WELL KNOWN AND PREVALENT ACROSS ALL GM TRUCK LINES IN 94-96 YEAR GROUP. NOTE: NO OPERATOR OF THIS VEHICLE SINCE 1996 PURCHASE HAS WEIGHED MORE THAN 180 LBS AND THE SEAT HAS NOT BEEN SUBJECTED TO ANY COLLISION OR ABUSE. NORMAL LOADING AND USAGE IS LIGHT TO MODERATE DUTY.

THE FAILURE CAUSED MY 1995 6.5L DIESEL CHEVROLET SUBURBAN TO STALL IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC! THIS CAUSED ME TO LOOSE POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. BEING A 3/4 TON PICKUP, THIS WAS NOT A PRETTY PICTURE. THE STALL CAUSED ME TO RUN OFF THE ROAD AND INTO A DITCH. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM I INSTALLED A NEW ~$400 STANADYNE PMD. THESE PMDS ARE KNOWN TO GO OUT EVERY 30,000 MILES. I HAVE NOTIFIED GM ON THEIR CUSTOMER ONLINE CENTER AND RECIEVED A COOKIE CUTTER RESPONSE THAT IT IS NOT A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, I NOTIFIED GM IN 2001 AND 2004 AND RECIEVED THE EXACT SAME EMAIL WORD FOR WORD. I WENT BACK TO MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER AND TOLD HIM THE PROBLEM, HE TOOK PICTURES AND PROCEEDED TO WORK THE PROBLEM(APRIL 2004) THE RESPONSE FROM THE FACTORY IS THAT THEY WILL COVER 30% OF THE PAINT IF I HAVE THEM DO IT. I HAVE TWO ESTIMATES FROM REPUTABLE BODY SHOPS AT $2600-$3000. THAT MEANS I WOULD HAVE TO COVER ABOUT $2000 FOR A FACTORY DEFECT, BOTH BODY SHOPS DIAGNOSED THE PAINT PROBLEM AS DELAMINATION ( SEPERATION OF PAINT FROM PRIMER). - Summary: THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BOTTOM FRAME ASSEMBLY BROKE APART ON MY 1995 CHEV. SUBURBAN. THIS CAUSED THE SEAT TO TIP BACKWARDS. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO CATCH MYSELF USING THE STEERING WHEEL AND BALANCE IN THE SEAT AND GET THE CAR UNDER CONTROL. I DID NOT CRASH, BUT THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE DESIGN.

- Summary: CERTAIN REPLACEMENT FUEL FILTERS, FRAM BRAND NAME P/N G3727, WITH DATE CODES X52911 THROUGH X60801 SEQUENTIALLY OR X600141 AND A MEXICO COUNTRY OR ORIGIN MARKING ON THE FUEL FILTER HOUSING MANUFACTURED FROM OCTOBER 18, 2005, THROUGH MARCH 21, 2006, SOLD FOR USE ON THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE AND ON CERTAIN SCHOOL BUSES. (TO SEE THE SCHOOL BUS ENGINE SIZES, CLICK ON "DOCUMENT SEARCH" AND THEN "BUS APPLICATIONS"). THE CONNECTOR ON THE FUEL FILTER WAS NOT MANUFACTURED TO HONEYWELL'S SPECIFICATION. AS A RESULT, THE O-RING MAY NOT SEAT CORRECTLY ON THE FUEL LINE.
- Consequence: THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE AN INADEQUATE SEAL AT THE CONNECTION, POTENTIALLY LEADING TO A FUEL LEAK. IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FIRE COULD OCCUR.
- Remedy: HONEYWELL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE FUEL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 18, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FRAM CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-890-2075 (OPTION 1).

OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-222-1020, GMC AT 1-800-462-8782, OR OLDSMOBILE AT 1-800-442-6537.

- Consequence: CONSEQUENCE OF NON-COMPLIANCE: THE ENGINE SPEED MAY NOT RETURN TO IDLE INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT FOR ADEQUATE THROTTLE CABLE TO DASH MAT CLEARANCE, AND IF THERE IS INSUFFICIENT CLEARANCE, CUT OUT A PORTION OF THE DASH MAT TO PROVIDE PROPER CLEARANCE.

- Remedy: DEALERS WILL ADJUST THE SHIFT CABLE AND INSTALL A LOCK CLIP.

- Summary: THE VEHICLES HAVE BOTH THE SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT (SIR) LABEL AND AN ENGINE START LABEL INSTALLED ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE SUN VISOR. THIS DOES NOT COMPLY WITH FMVSS NO.208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION."
- Consequence: CONSEQUENCE OF NON-COMPLIANCE: OPERATORS COULD FAIL TO NOTICE AND HEED THE WARNING LABEL.
- Remedy: THE ENGINE START LABEL WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE STOWED SIDE OF THE SUN VISOR AND A NEW ENGINE START LABEL WILL BE INSTALLED ON THE HEADLINER IN THE SUN VISOR DEPRESSION. OWNERS WILL RECEIVE THE NEW LABEL AND CAN INSTALL THE LABEL THEMSELVES OR HAVE A DEALER INSTALL IT.

This SUV is such a great vehicle! I purchased it with 100k miles on it and it now has 149k miles. The 350 engine runs smoothly without any oil leaks or burning. The transmission is also in excellent condition. Unfortunately, there have been some rust issues with the underside and body panels. However, I have been able to repair most of the rust and am now in the process of replacing the body panels. The best part is that used parts are readily available and affordable. I absolutely love this vehicle! During my last oil change, the service station placed it out front and six people tried to buy it. It's amazing in the snow too, you can barely tell there's any snow on the ground!

I see that you own a 5 Chevy truck! That's great! I'm very familiar with them myself, having owned models from '88, '89, '91, '94, but I have to say that this one is the easiest to drive. The braking is impressive, and it has great power and road feel.

Next time, I will definitely buy from a GM dealer instead of a private party. I learned my lesson after realizing that the money I saved from buying from an individual versus the dealer was spent on repairs and maintenance. This full-size SUV provides ample cargo and passenger space, as well as impressive towing capability. It outperforms the Ford Excursion and Expedition series, as well as the undersized Durango in terms of space and towing.

We bought it because our extended family takes long road trips together and we were in the middle of a home remodel. The SUV comfortably held 8 people, a dog, and a week's worth of stuff from Central CA to Arizona, all with just one tank of gas! We were even able to remove the rear seat and fold down the second row to haul everything we needed during the remodel, including protecting 8' sections of wood moulding in the rain. In this price range, there is simply no substitute for this amazing SUV!

It's big, refined, and tough. It rides like a sedan and has a pretty good turning radius. Its ride is 10x better than any Ford Expedition or Excursion. In fact, it's the best SUV on the planet!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with the '95 Suburban that I bought used back in 4/00. At the time of purchase, it had 90k miles but was in excellent shape. However, over the past three years and 30k miles, I've encountered a few issues with the vehicle. Specifically, I've had some electrical problems with the ignition and instrumentation, as well as some brake issues. Additionally, the stereo has quit twice, but after purchasing a GM replacement and then finally a Pioneer, it's been working great. Lastly, I've noticed that some of the interior plastics have cracked and are falling apart (brake release, hood release, and seat belt guides). Despite these issues, I still find the size and comfort of this vehicle to be its main virtue. However, I will say that it can be expensive to own and not exactly worry-free. Oh, and just to give you an idea, the gas mileage on the 5.7L is ~9-11 MPG without exception. I've spoken with both dealerships and performance shops, and they feel that the mileage is not out of the ordinary. Thanks for listening!
