Congratulations on getting your dream truck back in Aug of '06! It's a '99 with the 2.2 5speed and you love it. You've added an intake and exhaust, which sounds great and runs great. The power for the mods you have on it aren't bad. It's great that there are a lot of parts that can be changed out and you're planning to lower it a bit and put rims and tires on it soon. It's clear that you really love this truck and it's the best one you've had so far!

Fairly well built truck, although I personally prefer Ford. Everything about this truck is well-built and fairly easy to take care of and operate, including the V6 Vortec engine which makes it easy to control larger 2-3 horse trailers.

The S-10 extreme has been an exceptional vehicle for its price range. You can't beat the value for money. Since buying it used in 2000, I've put 34000 miles on it and it has only needed new front brake pads, oil changes, and filters. It's loaded with accessories and has been a great investment. The exterior looks great and the interior has held up well. The only minor issue with the vehicle is that the 4 cyl. motor is somewhat underpowered for all the other features of the vehicle.

I've always wanted a Chevy. I haven't been disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against my Ranger, it's a sharp truck. But the S10 is built like a tank but rides like a car. I love it!

I'm glad to hear that you've had a great experience with your truck for the past five years! It's impressive that it has over 100k miles and has only needed a few minor repairs. The 4cyl engine is capable of getting you up to speed, but if you plan on hauling or commuting on freeways, I would recommend looking for a V6. The ZQ8 suspension can make for a rough ride and doesn't offer exceptional cornering abilities, but softer shocks can help with bottoming out. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, even for someone over 6ft and 200lbs like yourself. The truck has a unique and sharp look, with a speedy appearance. The only minor issue seems to be that changing the spark plug wires can be a bit of a headache. Overall, it sounds like you have a great truck that has served you well!

I've owned a '89 S-10 Reg Cab 4cyl/5spd, a '91 S-10 Reg Cab 4cyl/5spd, and now a '99 S-10 Ext Cab 6cyl/5spd. While I enjoyed the older models, I have to say that the '99 has not been my favorite. It tends to squeak and rattle while driving, and the automatic headlights, radio that stays on after the ignition is turned off, and interior light that comes on after removing the ignition key can be a bit much. Additionally, I feel that the newer S-10s are not built as well as the older models. In my experience, this has been the worst S-10 I've owned. If you're considering purchasing an S-10, I would recommend looking for a pre-94 model.

I replaced the rear end twice in the first year I owned it. I had the third door handle replaced and it is broken again. Neither of the seats recline anymore, and both handles have broken.
