1999 Chevrolet S10 problems
The Chevrolet S-10 is a compact pickup truck produced by Chevrolet. It was the first domestically-built compact pickup of the big three American automakers. When it was first introduced as a "quarter-ton pickup" in 1981 for the 1982 model year, the GMC version was known as the S-15 and later renamed the GMC Sonoma. A high-performance version of the latter was released in 1991, called "Syclone." The pickup was also sold by Isuzu as the Hombre from 1996 through 2000, but only in North America. There was also an SUV version, the Chevrolet S-10 Blazer/GMC S-15 Jimmy. An electric version was leased as a fleet vehicle in 1997 and 1998. These models are sometimes internally referred to as the S/T series to denote two and four wheel drive models respectively (similar to the full size Chevrolet C/K trucks) despite all versions being badged with 'S' nomenclature.
In North America, the S-series was replaced by the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, and Isuzu i-Series in 2004.
The S-Series ended production in Brazil in 2012, being replaced by the Chevrolet Colorado, but still with the name S-10.

Common 1999 Chevrolet S10 problems
The Chevrolet S10, produced from 1982 to 2004, has been a popular compact pickup truck due to its versatility and affordability. However, like any vehicle, the S10 has had its share of common issues and problems. This article will focus on the 1999 Chevrolet S10, specifically the base model, and the common problems that owners have reported.
One of the most common issues with the base model S10 is rust and corrosion, particularly in the rocker panels, wheel wells, and bed floor. This can weaken the vehicle's structural integrity, leading to safety concerns and the need for costly repairs.
Brake system problems are also common with the base model S10. This can include issues with the brake pads, rotors, and calipers, which can lead to decreased stopping power, increased stopping distance, and noise or vibration when braking. In some cases, brake system problems can also lead to issues with the ABS system, such as warning lights on the dashboard.
Electrical problems are another common issue with the base model S10. This can include issues with the alternator, starter, or battery, which can lead to the vehicle failing to start or stalling while driving. In some cases, electrical problems can also lead to issues with the fuel system or transmission.
Fuel system problems are also a common issue with the base model S10. This can include issues with the fuel pump, fuel filter, or fuel injectors, which can lead to poor fuel economy, rough running, and stalling. In some cases, fuel system problems can also lead to engine damage or failure.
Steering problems are also common with the base model S10. This can include issues with the power steering pump, steering gear, or tie rods, which can lead to difficulty controlling the vehicle and increased steering effort. In some cases, steering problems can also lead to issues with the suspension system.
In summary, the 1999 Chevrolet S10, particularly the base model, has had several common issues and problems. These include rust and corrosion, brake system problems, electrical problems, fuel system problems, and steering problems. If you own a 1999 Chevrolet S10, it's important to stay on top of regular maintenance and promptly address any issues that arise to ensure the safety and reliability of your vehicle.

I bought my truck based on the 3rd door and the indigo blue color. It may seem like a 'girl' thing, but being from a true Chevy family (with 5 Chevy cars, a truck, and SUVs from the same dealer), it was a no-brainer for me. Living in the Bay Area, the V6 has served me well going up and down hills. I drive a lot to SoCal and it's always a comfortable drive. I haven't had any maintenance problems other than normal wear and tear. I would definitely buy another truck.

I have driven Ford Rangers for the past 15 years, and this truck is by far the fastest and best-riding truck I have owned. The 4WD is great for snow and good in the mud. The storage behind the seat is good for tools and small items (not for adults). It gets around 20 MPG around town.

You have a fantastic vehicle that looks great and performs even better. It's no surprise that you get a lot of compliments on its looks and off-road abilities. What's even better is that you haven't had any mechanical problems of any kind. Plus, it tows and hauls everything you've thrown at it without any squeaks or rattles.

When I first received my car from my grandfather, I must admit that I wasn't too thrilled about it, especially since I was a young female. However, after driving it for two years, I have come to appreciate it so much! This little red truck has proven to be incredibly reliable, with great gas mileage and durability for its size. It even has its own unique personality and catches the eye of many. I have grown so attached to it that I have turned down numerous offers to buy it. I plan on keeping it for as long as possible and would love to customize it in the future. Aside from regular maintenance, this truck has been nothing but dependable. I highly recommend getting one for yourself!

I've owned my S-10 for about 7 months and I really enjoy it. I've done a few mods that make me enjoy it a lot more. However, like with most new vehicles, there is too much breakable plastic. Additionally, doing any engine work is a real pain that requires a lot of special tools, which can be annoying. But once you're done, you can call it a day!

Although the truck has had some mechanical issues, it still has less than 100,000 miles and has a lot of potential. With some improvements to the transmission and interior, this truck could be a great investment. It's important to address these issues early on to ensure the longevity of the vehicle.

The truck doesn't quite meet my expectations. The engine could use a bit more power, and the stereo could be more exciting. Additionally, the design doesn't quite appeal to me.

This is the best vehicle I've ever owned! It has had zero defects from the factory and only one issue in three years. I loved it so much that I even bought a ZR-2 Blazer for my girlfriend.

I recently sold this truck and while it had a nice appearance, it required frequent maintenance. Despite being well taken care of, I had to replace the starter at 80000 miles and the transmission at 90,000 miles. Additionally, I had to replace several other parts such as the seat lever handles, center console, idler arm, cross link, and valve cover. The truck also had low horsepower and poor mileage. I was happy to sell it last week!

The S10 Xtreme's quality is subpar, with the body paint being easily damaged by even a mosquito. Additionally, the suspension has been making noises since the day I received the car from the dealer, with only 0 miles on the odometer.
