These models are sometimes internally referred to as the S/T series to denote two and four wheel drive models respectively (similar to the full size Chevrolet C/K trucks) despite all versions being badged with 'S' nomenclature.
In North America, the S-series was replaced by the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, and Isuzu i-Series in 2004.
The S-Series ended production in Brazil in 2012, being replaced by the Chevrolet Colorado, but still with the name S-10.

That's a sharp looking truck! I absolutely love the interior. The acceleration is fast and the braking is great. It's also easy to service. Unfortunately, when I bought it, the dealership's service department missed most of the grease zerks during the prior service. Luckily, I do my own work! On rough roads, the passenger side seat rattles a bit and the ash tray is not very useful. Additionally, the paint is prone to chipping on the rocker panels.

The 2.2 liter engine's acceleration is not up to par, even with the 5-speed transmission, making it difficult to pull a 1500 lb. trailer. However, the interior is exceptionally comfortable and the truck rides more like a car than a traditional truck. While the fuel economy could be improved from the current 20 mpg, the air ride shocks I installed have greatly improved the suspension. Despite the strain on acceleration caused by the A/C, I invested in 3K worth of extras to ensure the truck met my high expectations.

The larger suspension puts it in between a compact and full-sized truck, which is perfect for many drivers. Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my S10 truck. I've had to do some repairs over the years, including upper and lower ball joints, wheel bearings, oxygen sensor, oil cooler lines, shocks, brakes, belts, and a tune-up. I did have a couple of issues with the plastic club door latch and the passenger seat recliner arm, but those were fixed with some repairs. I do spend quite a bit on gas for work, but overall, I've found it to be a reliable truck. I know there are some negative reviews out there, but I wanted to share my positive experience. Has anyone else had a similar experience with their S10 truck?

This vehicle may not have met my expectations. However, it has a solid foundation as an S-10. With some aftermarket engine modifications such as intake and exhaust, it can perform significantly better. The suspension system may require some attention due to the oversized tires, but with proper maintenance, it can be managed. Although I had to replace some parts such as ball joints, idler, pitman arms, and cv joints, it is important to note that these are common wear and tear items. The truck served me well for 36,000 miles, and I am confident that it will continue to do so for its next owner.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my truck. I bought it 18 months ago to replace my aging Lumina and it's been great so far! I've put 33K miles on it and haven't had many issues. The only problem I had was with the throttle position sensor, which I replaced for $145 around 70K miles. However, I did have to replace the fuel pump recently and it was quite expensive. The pump itself cost $530, and GM dealerships tend to charge a premium. Just wanted to give you a heads up!

I originally bought the truck with 60K and have used it to carry construction tools, including a generator and compressors, for the next 40K. While it may be slow when empty and sluggish when fully loaded, it has great gas mileage. I have only had a few minor issues, such as the fuel pump going out at 90k ($300 to fix) and an annoying oil leak from the rear main seal. However, the clutch has never been replaced and is still going strong (I only use it in first gear). The door bushings are a bit of a pain and need to be replaced monthly, and the door spring can be tricky to replace. Overall, I consider myself lucky to have had no major problems with this truck!

These trucks are actually not bad considering their low price. Although the third door handle broke, I was able to find a metal replacement online for only $35. I have only had minor issues with tierods and wheel bearings, and while the 5-cylinder engine is a bit sluggish, it has not caused any major problems. It is definitely a budget-friendly option, as I purchased it for only $4500 when it was 7 years old. However, due to the Michigan weather, it has started to rust out in areas such as the cab corner, third door, and rear wheel wells. Even though both seat levers broke off, I was able to find replacements at Autozone for only $30 each.
