2011 Audi A6 problems
The Audi A6 is an executive car made by the German company Audi since 1994. Now in its fifth generation, the successor to the Audi 100 is manufactured in Neckarsulm, Germany, and is available in saloon and estate configurations, the latter marketed by Audi as the Avant. Audi's internal numbering treats the A6 as a continuation of the Audi 100 lineage, with the initial A6 designated as a member of the C4-series, followed by the C5, C6, C7, and the C8. The related Audi A7 is essentially a Sportback (liftback) version of the C7-series and C8-series A6 but is marketed under its own separate identity and model designation.
All generations of the A6 have offered either front-wheel-drive or Torsen-based four-wheel-drive, marketed by Audi as their quattro system. The A6 has also been used as the basis for the company's Allroad models since 1999.
Both petrol and diesel versions of the A6 are offered. The wide range of engines available have power outputs ranging from 150 to 333 PS (110 to 245 kW). These are inline four-cylinder turbocharged engines and more powerful 3-litre units in a V6 configuration with a mechanical compressor.

Common 2011 Audi A6 problems
Based on the information provided in the sources, here are the common problems with the Audi A6 2011 based on complaints from owners:
- Excessive Oil Consumption: One common issue, especially with the two-liter turbocharged engine, is excessive oil consumption. This problem arises from worn piston ring seals, leading to gas entering the oil sump and frequent oil top-ups. Resolving this may require changing piston rings and seals, or in severe cases, even replacing the engine .
- Automatic Gearbox Problems: Automatic gearboxes in Audi A6s, whether CVT or electronic, can be problematic. It is crucial to ensure a good gearbox service history, as neglecting maintenance can lead to expensive repairs. Regular servicing every 38,000 miles is recommended to prevent issues like transmission rebuilds and control module replacements, which can cost significantly .
- Display Panel Failure: Another issue reported is display panel failure, where lines appear on the screen or the panel malfunctions. This can be related to the mechanism operating the screen or electrical failures. The only solution is often to replace the entire unit, which can be costly and may require programming, sometimes only available at the main dealer .
These common problems highlight the importance of regular maintenance and prompt attention to any issues that arise to ensure the longevity and performance of the Audi A6 2011 model.

I've owned a Honda S2000, a Volvo S80, and even another Audi (an A4 convertible) that I thought was my favorite car, but none of them have been as complete a package as this car. Although the A6's exterior may be a bit bland, the interior is nearly perfect. The cabin is spacious, the seats are comfortable, the electronics are user-friendly, and the fit and finish is fantastic. The supercharged 3.0 engine has excellent torque at all speeds, and when the supercharger kicks in, you'd better be ready to roll - quickly! In fact, the first time I punched it, I nearly rear-ended the car I was trying to pass. The engine and transmission are perfectly matched. Score!
-
I bought the 2010 Audi A6 3.0 supercharged earlier this year and I must say, what a car! As an Acura guy, I considered the RL, the ZDX, and another MDX (would have been my third). All are great cars with only the MDX being considerably less expensive. However, they just didn't thrill me. Having owned/driven many of the premium brands, I was always drawn to the Audi. It's plush ride, over the top cool gadgets, and top-notch 3.0 supercharged engine make it stand out. Although it's been in the shop once already for a check engine light (dirt in a sensor), I don't care. Every time I drive it, I'm smiling ear to ear!
-
So far, it's been a blast to drive! The build quality is rock solid and the supercharged performance is incredibly responsive. It's the perfect combination of luxury and speed.

Hi there! I used to own an 08 A6 with the 4.2 V8 engine and I'm currently considering upgrading to a 2011 Audi A6. I read Edmund's review on the 3.0T engine and thought I could save $5K by going for the V6. However, after test-driving the V6 at my local dealership, I have to say that I disagree with Edmund's review. In my opinion, there's no comparison with my 08 V8 - it's not even close! While the 0 to 60 times for both engines are similar, at 5.8 sec. for the V8 and 5.9 sec. for the V6, I don't believe that the V6 is quicker than the V8. Edmunds, did you really do your research and test drive both models? Anyway, I still think that the 2011 A6 is an excellent vehicle overall.

3L Turbo- a rocket. Handling is impressive. Never had a problem. Will buy again.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to let you know that I noticed a few minor scratches and door dings on the car. Additionally, I found that there were two small leaks - one for oil and one for coolant. When I asked the dealer about the coolant leak fix, they weren't able to produce a receipt. They also didn't know about the oil leak. Just wanted to give you a heads up!

The car has some great features, but unfortunately, there may be some issues with the front brake rotors. I was hoping that Audi would have corrected this problem, but after experiencing similar issues with my 2005 allroad, I decided to switch to a Mercedes 300 series. Interestingly, after 52,000 miles, I traded in my Mercedes with the original brakes still intact. However, my A-6 2010 has again developed warped rotors after only 17,800 miles, with the pads only about 40% worn or less. This was the same problem I experienced with my allroad. Unfortunately, it cost me $600, even after a 15% dealer discount - a true joke. I usually use the engine during downhills and am careful not to overheat the brakes. I think that it may be the slush or cold rain that cold shocks the rotors. When Audi covered these under warranty, I did not mind, but they stopped doing so in 2005, probably due to the frequency of the issue - so it's a bit frustrating.

Hey there! Unfortunately, it seems like the transmission isn't working properly.
