1997 Chevrolet G25 problems
The Chevrolet Van or Chevy Van (also known as the Chevrolet/GMC G-series vans and GMC Vandura) is a range of vans that was manufactured by General Motors from the 1964 to 1996 model years. Introduced as the successor for the rear-engine Corvair Corvan/Greenbrier, the model line also replaced the panel van configuration of the Chevrolet Suburban. The vehicle was sold both in passenger van and cargo van configurations as well as a cutaway van chassis that served as the basis for a variety of custom applications.
Produced across three generations (1964–66, 1967–70, and 1970–96), the model line was sold under a wide variety of model names under both the Chevrolet and GMC brands. The first two generations were forward control vehicles (with the engine placed between the seats); the third generation adopted a configuration placing the engine forward of the driver. The second and third generations shared powertrain commonality with the C/K pickup truck model line.
After the 1996 model year, GM retired the G-Series vans, replacing them with the GMT600-platform Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana.

Common 1997 Chevrolet G25 problems
The Chevrolet G25, produced in 1997, is known for several common problems that have been reported by owners. These issues range from electrical problems to mechanical faults, and they can significantly impact the vehicle's performance and reliability.
- Fuel System Issues: Fuel system problems are also prevalent in the Chevrolet G25. These issues can include a faulty fuel pump, a malfunctioning fuel pressure regulator, or a clogged fuel filter. A failing fuel pump may not provide sufficient fuel pressure, causing the engine to stall or have difficulty starting. Similarly, a weak fuel pressure regulator can leak fuel into the intake manifold, causing backfires and potentially damaging the fuel injection system.
- Windshield Wiper Problems: Chevrolet G25 owners have reported issues with the windshield wipers, such as the wipers not working or moving erratically. These problems can be caused by a malfunctioning wiper motor, a blown fuse, a faulty relay, or misaligned wiper arms. Inspecting the electrical connections, testing the voltage at the motor, and adjusting the wiper arms can help resolve these issues.
- Transmission Problems: Transmission issues are another common problem in the Chevrolet G25. These problems can include unexpected gear shifts, difficulty shifting gears, or the vehicle getting stuck in a particular gear. These issues can be caused by low transmission fluid levels, worn-out clutch plates, or a malfunctioning transmission control module.
- Ignition System Issues: Ignition system problems can also affect the Chevrolet G25. These problems can include worn-out spark plugs, faulty ignition coils, or a malfunctioning distributor. These issues can cause the engine to misfire, run rough, or have difficulty starting.
In conclusion, the Chevrolet G25, produced in 1997, is known for several common problems that can impact its performance and reliability. These issues include electrical problems, fuel system issues, windshield wiper problems, transmission problems, and ignition system issues. Addressing these problems promptly can help maintain the vehicle's safety and longevity.
