2013 Audi Tt rs problems
The Audi TT is a production front-engine, 2-door, 2+2 sports coupé and roadster, manufactured and marketed by Audi from 1998 to 2023 across three generations.
For each of its three generations, the TT has been based on consecutive generations of Volkswagen's "Group A" platforms, starting with its "PQ34" fourth generation. The TT shares powertrain and suspension layouts with its platform mates, including the Audi A3, like a transversely mounted front-engine, powering front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and fully independent suspension using MacPherson struts in front.
The TT's first two generations were assembled by Audi's Hungarian subsidiary, one of the world's largest engine manufacturing plants, using bodyshells manufactured and painted at Audi's Ingolstadt plant and parts made entirely by the Hungarian factory for the third generation.
The last of the 662,762 Audi TTs was manufactured in November 2023.

Based on the information gathered from the sources provided, here are the common problems reported by owners of the 2013 Audi TT RS:
- Cam Belt: While not a problem with the car itself, Audi recommended replacing the cam belt every 80,000 miles, but it is advised to change it every 60,000 miles to prevent severe engine problems.
- Water Pump: The water pump in the Audi TT RS also has a lifespan of 60,000 miles. It is recommended to change both the cam belt and water pump simultaneously to avoid issues.
- Gearbox: Potential issues with the DSG gearbox have been noted, with symptoms like hesitant movement and a lack of smooth shifting, indicating possible problems with the mechatronic unit, which can be an expensive repair.
- Suspension: Owners have reported a knocking sound, especially from the front of the car, which could be due to faulty bushes, particularly the roll bar bushes. Replacing the front wishbones and anti-roll bars may be necessary.
- Coil Pack: Engine misfires and rough idling could be attributed to a failed coil pack in the engine. Identifying the faulty coil and replacing it is crucial to address this issue.
- Electric Window Switch: There have been issues with the electric windows in the Audi TT RS, which may require attention to ensure proper functionality.
These common problems highlight areas where owners of the 2013 Audi TT RS have experienced issues. Addressing these concerns promptly can help maintain the performance and reliability of the vehicle.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-04-06
- VIN: TRUB3AFK8D1
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: FUEL LINE, SUPPLY LINE FROM HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP TO ENGINE, HAS NOW NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO LEAKING. THE LEAKING IS MORE LIKE A SPRAYING AND CAUSING GAS TO GET ALL OVER THE ENGINE BAY AND THE GROUND. THIS OCCURS MOST WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING. WHEN THE CAR IS OFF IT IS A LEAK WITH ABOUT 10 DROPS PER MINUTE.
POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-07-06
- Crash: 1
- VIN: TRUB3AFK9D1
- Components: POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: I WAS DRIVING ON I-64 EAST OF RICHMOND VA WHEN I FELT THE CAR SHUDDER AND THEN SUDDENLY THE CAR BEGAN GLIDING OVER THE LANE MARKERS TO THE RIGHT. I TRIED TO KEEP THEWHEELSSTRAIGHT AND SLOW DOWN GRADUALLY BUT THE REAR END SLOWLY KICKED OUT TO THE LEFT SIDE. BY THE TIME I KNEW IT I WAS DIRECTLY FACING THE RIGHT-SIDE GUARDRAIL AND MOMENTS LATER THE VEHICLE TAPPED THE GUARDRAIL JUST ENOUGH TO BUST THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PEEL BACK THEHOODA FEW NOTCHES. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A REST AFTER DOING A NEAR-180 DEGREE TURN AND ENDED UP FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THEENGINEWAS STILL RUNNING PERFECTLY FINE WITH NO DASH WARNINGLIGHTSSO I TRIED TO MOVE IT IN 1STGEAR, 2NDGEAR, AND REVERSE, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT BUDGE! I THEN DIALED 911 AND EVACUATED MY GIRLFRIEND AND I FROM THE CAR. STATE TROOPERS ARRIVED SHORTLY AFTER AND WE TRIED PUSHING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE AN INCH. WHEN THE WRECKER ARRIVED AND TRIED TO PULL THE CAR ONTO THE FLATBED, WE FOUND THAT BOTH REAR WHEELS WERE LOCKED AND IMMOBILE. AT NO POINT DID THE DASHBOARD EVER SHOW ANY SIGN OF ANY SYSTEM FAILURE. THANKFULLY IMPACT WAS NOT EVEN ENOUGH TO DEPLOY AIRBAGS. THE STATE TROOPER'S REPORT SAYS THAT THE INCIDENT WAS NOT DUE TO DRIVER'S ERROR AND I AM CONVINCED THAT A FAILURE ONBOARD THE VEHICLE OCCURRED THAT CAUSED THE REAR WHEELS TO LOCK. THE CAR HAS RECEIVED EVERY REQUIREDSERVICEAT THEAUDIDEALERSHIP IN EL PASO TX AND IT WAS GARAGED MUCH OF ITS LIFE. ALTHOUGH 5 YEARS OLD, THE CAR ONLY HAS 13,000 MILES. I HAVE ALREADY FILED AN INSURANCE CLAIM AND CONTACTEDAUDIOF AMERICA TO RAISE SOME ATTENTION SO AS TO LOOK FURTHER INTO WHAT HAPPENED. I AM CURRENTLY AWAITING A FORMAL DIAGNOSIS FROM THE AUDI DEALERSHIP IN RICHMOND VA AND THEN WILL FOLLOW UP WITH AUDI CORPORATE.

I recently visited my local Audi dealer and had the opportunity to test drive a 2012 TT RS, a car that I had been curious about for some time. I was thoroughly impressed with the car's performance and decided to trade in my 2011 Corvette Grand Sport for the RS right away. The RS has impressive acceleration that matches the Corvette's up to about 80 mph, and it's much more agile and thrilling to drive. While it may not be the best option for long road trips due to its stiff ride and loud exhaust noise, it's definitely worth considering for anyone in the market for a sports car. In fact, I previously owned a Porsche Cayman S, and I can confidently say that the Audi outperforms it in almost every aspect. However, after six months of ownership, the check engine light came on, and it took my dealer two weeks to fix the issue due to the car's sophisticated engine. Although I loved the car, I decided to trade it in for a Porsche Boxster to avoid any potential future problems.

The car has received a 5-star rating for power, road handling, and comfort. However, it has only received 1 star for dependability. During the first dealer visit for the 5000-mile servicing, an issue with a lack of acceleration in the lower RPM range was introduced. The second dealer visit involved the shop foreman reading from the on-board computer and sending the information off to specialists, but a new issue arose. The car now has a restriction of 'DO NOT EXCEED 4k RPM' while traveling 10-25 mph and releasing the clutch with no accelerator at around 2k RPM. After the high-pressure fuel pump was replaced during the third dealer visit, the car was ready for pick up, but the same 'DO NOT EXCEED 4K RPM' issue occurred twice that same day. During the fourth dealer visit, I handed over a video of the issue along with my car.
