1992 Chevrolet Beretta problems
The Chevrolet Beretta is a coupé that was produced by Chevrolet from 1987 until 1996. Alongside the four-door Chevrolet Corsica, the Beretta served as the successor to the Chevrolet Citation. Slotted between the Cavalier and Lumina/Monte Carlo coupes, the Beretta was distinguished by its vertical door handles mounted on the B-pillar, a design feature later used by the Chevrolet Lumina coupe and its GM W-body counterparts.
The Beretta shared the front-wheel drive GM L platform with the Corsica; replacing the X-body platform, the L-body was designed by Chevrolet, with the rest of General Motors using the Oldsmobile-designed N-body. The body was designed in the same design studio as the contemporary Camaro and Corvette. For 1990, a Beretta convertible conversion was selected as the Indianapolis 500 pace car; though a replica was initially considered as a convertible, the production replica was offered as a coupe.
During its production, the Beretta was assembled alongside the Corsica and Pontiac Tempest sedans (the latter, sold only in Canada) in GM facilities in Wilmington, Delaware, and Linden, New Jersey.

I bought this car used with 19,000 miles on it and it has served me well over the years. Although there were a few cons such as the front interior fabric not holding up well and the wiring in the steering column catching on fire once, I had the switch for the lights and turn signal replaced. Additionally, I had to replace the alternator and battery 3 times. Despite its age and mileage, this car still performs well and handles as good as the day I bought it. On the other hand, I also have a 2004 Chevy Impala which is a comfortable car, but at 110,000 miles started having transmission slippage issues. It's a shame that the Impala's transmission isn't on par with the 1991 Beretta's.

I really love my car! My friend named her Daisy and she runs great. The gas mileage is fantastic and the V6 engine is zippy. I even put a new deck in it and I'm starting to customize it. It's a beautiful thing! :)

An underrated, economical sports car that is still neglected by the performance parts aftermarket. Without a doubt, it's the best bang for the buck car that I have ever driven. With V6 or Quad4 power, great mileage, and an outstanding handling package, you simply can't go wrong.
-
I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share that I bought my Beretta 6 months ago from a previous owner and it's still in terrific shape. Even though it has a decent number of miles on it, it's been very reliable and fun to drive. I really appreciate the speed and acceleration. I've had very few problems with it so far. With new tires, a new paint job, and a little chrome, my Beretta easily compares to any new car.

When you buy a car, you don't always know what you're getting into. That was the case for me when I bought my Quad 4. But as soon as I drove it, I was blown away! The stock 2.3-liter I4 engine produces an impressive 180 horsepower and can rev up to 7400 RPM. It's no wonder Oldsmobile got it so right! The car has a great look and I still get lots of compliments on it when I'm out driving. I go to the drag strip often and people are always surprised when they find out it's not a V6. They can't believe that a Chevy from the 90s could produce so much horsepower! It's worth noting that the engine is from Oldsmobile, which unfortunately is no longer around due to GM's closure. But I'm grateful to have this amazing car in my life!

I have experienced numerous issues with my car in just three years. I have had to replace the brakes (pads and rotors), fuel pump, four out of six fuel injectors, the alternator, and the transmission twice. Unfortunately, the car failed the emissions test and I had to get rid of it. I suggest considering foreign cars, such as Honda. Although I was initially hesitant to try them due to my preference for American cars, I am now a firm believer in their quality and reliability.

Hi, about one month ago I went and bought my first car went out and bought a 92 Chevy Beretta GT black with the teal pinstripe and teal and crome wheels looks perfect never seen a car look so good with its age. The car has just a little over 76000 miles on it and i bought it on its looks. I have done more work to this car then i knew could be done had to have regular work done yeah ok but i had to replace the head because it was cracked the started struts radiator and who knows what next my recommendation is not to buy one i am already ready to sell it.

I understand your frustration with the car. It seems like there were some issues with the ergonomics, interior and exterior quality, and performance. It's important to have a car that meets your needs and expectations. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Danny Schimmel 2024-05-05
I completely agree that looks play a big role in why people choose to buy a car. However, it's unfortunate that sometimes the performance doesn't live up to the expectations. I've heard similar stories from other people who own similar cars. It's definitely a bummer, but we can always hope for better options in the future!

My Beretta GT had a lot of electrical problems that caused other mechanical failures. The fan was unreliable, which led to overheating. The EFI sensors had a shorter lifespan than expected for a car with such low mileage. The interior was poorly made and the knobs frequently came off. The car also had a tendency to drain batteries quickly, requiring replacement every six months. The radio was also unreliable. Despite these issues, I am confident in my assessment of the car's flaws.
