According to a Nissan press release in 2008, "versa" is short for "versatile space" meant to imply the spaciousness of the interior and configurable cargo arrangements. The Versa is one of the few remaining subcompact cars left on sale in the North American market, with most automakers dropping small cars from their lineups to focus on crossovers and SUVs.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-04-25
  • VIN: 3N1CN7AP9GL
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS
  • Summary: A while ago my airbag light began flashing, we reset it a few times and it would come back after a week or two sometimes longer, either a flashing or solid light, it felt almost random. No codes came up when we had it ran, and then we took it to the dealership for inspection. It is the back of my driver seat, the airbag for the driver side back seat. I don’t know what the qualified number of complaints is, but please at least look into this. The most complaints this car has is something to do with the airbags. I’ve also had a similar ac/belt problem that was mentioned by the guy from Texas. He said the ac compressor caused a belt failure, mine was the other way around, my belt was squeaking for a while, had it replaced- month later my ac compressor gave out due to the belt operating at full capacity for the first time in a long time. It is available for further inspection. An airbag is plainly a safety risk, not to mention the part is “on extreme back order”, which leads me to believe that this a bigger problem then what is being reported here. The problem was confirmed by the dealership It has only been inspected by the Nissan dealership As also stated above, there were warning lights about its failure. It’s late, I apologize but I’m not proof reading this. Please look into it, please, it’s a very expensive repair that I won’t be able to afford for a long time, and I’m concerned about my back passengers..

Negative 2016 Nissan Versa car reviews

  1. Henri Fisher 2025-06-09

The Versa S is a great option for those looking for a car with the essentials at an affordable price. It comes with A/C and a Bluetooth radio with 4 speakers. While it may not have power features, such as automatic transmission, windows, door locks, and seats, it makes up for it with its lighter weight, better fuel economy, quicker acceleration, shorter stopping distance, and better reliability. Additionally, you can save money on key replacements, as I was able to make a copy of my key for only $2.00. Overall, the Versa S is a good choice for basic transportation needs.

  2. Alberto Paucek 2025-05-10

This car is a great value for its price, although it may not be the most exciting option out there. While the acceleration may not be the best, it's important to note that I'm used to driving a car with a turbo engine, so it may be perfectly fine for someone who is not used to a faster car. The steering may take some getting used to, as it is not as responsive as I am used to, but it is still manageable. The brakes are very responsive and reliable. The interior is spacious and comfortable, although the model I had did not come with a backup camera or touch screen display, which was a bit disappointing. However, the audio system was quite impressive. Overall, this car is a great choice for anyone looking for a reliable and affordable option. However, if you're looking for something with more performance, you may want to consider other options.

  3. Kraig Bayer 2025-01-13

My old car finally gave up the ghost after clocking 220,000 miles, a 2001 Suzuki Vitara small SUV. I rented a Nissan Versa from Enterprise to get around until I can buy a replacement for my Vitara. My first impressions of the Versa were positive. It looks great from the outside and I had no trouble getting in and out of the car with plenty of headroom. However, once I sat in the driver's seat, I ran into a couple of problems. Firstly, the center console is very low and wide, sitting forward of the shifter, and the width of it hits me in my lower-right leg. This is made worse by the front of the driver's seat, which slopes upwards very steeply. The pedals are so deep in the well that I have to move the seat so far forward that I end up I have a few concerns about the car. Firstly, I find the brakes to be too responsive, which makes it difficult to slow down over a distance. It seems like they designed it to brake on a dime for people who may not know how to drive safely. Additionally, the dash lighting is too bright and causes glare inside the car. The knob to adjust the lighting is also inconveniently placed in the center of the dash, making it difficult to reach. On the other hand, my Vitara has the dimmer located as a dial on the left side near where the side mirror controls are, which is far easier to adjust while driving. Another issue is that the air controls do not let you select outside air vs inside, it only goes to outside air when you use the defroster. Lastly, there is no 3.5MM Line-In on the front of the radio, which is a bit disappointing. However, one positive aspect is that the trunk is huge with plenty of room to fit stuff, and my groceries stayed in place all the way home. Overall, I think this is a very modern car, but Nissan could have done a better job testing it with people of various body sizes. Additionally, it may not provide the connection to the road that the best drivers look for in a vehicle.

Great fuel mileage, but unfortunately I would not buy again due to multiple expensive repair issues.

  5. Markus Powlowski 2024-09-24

I have three Nissan Versas parked in my driveway, including my neighbor's. I noticed that the rear bumper appeared to be supported by clips. Unfortunately, I backed into a curb with very little impact and the right rear bumper's clips separated. This happened to my 2015 Versa. My housemate also experienced a similar issue with the front bumper when the clips separated after a slow-motion impact, although the other car had no damage. I was surprised to find out that my insurance bill was $2300. Do they put these cars together with tiny clips and a touch of glue? This experience has left me feeling disappointed, and I am hesitant to purchase another Nissan in the future. Sincerely, Jerry Seckeler from Winter Springs, FL.

Positive 2016 Nissan Versa car reviews

  1. Keeley Howe 2025-07-10

The Nissan Versa is an excellent car that offers great value for money. The car is comfortable and quiet, making it a pleasure to drive. The manual transmission and clutch are smooth and easy to use, and the steering is well-assisted, making it easy to turn the wheel. The trunk is spacious, and the hands-free phone works perfectly. The car also offers excellent gas mileage, and the engine provides acceptable power. Although the display could be better, the car is still a great choice for anyone looking for a reliable and affordable vehicle. The rear seat backs don't fold down on this model, and the rear brakes are drum, but these are minor issues that don't detract from the overall quality of the car.The Nissan Versa S is a great choice for an inexpensive commuter car with good gas mileage, hands-free phone, and the ability to play music on your phone. Although the glove compartment is non-locking, there are cup holders in the middle and on the doors, and a small slot between the seats. It would have been nice to have a space for quarters or storage of little things. The car has an amazing amount of space for the rear passengers. The locks are a bit more difficult to actuate than they should be, but I just leave the car doors open with nothing of value inside. Other than that, there is not much else to complain about. The car has hard plastic inside, but if that is the only thing to complain about, things are looking pretty good. The car does quite well in snow with its Yoko Avids tires. The key in the Versa S doesn't have a transponder chip and is thus very cheap if you need to make a copy. With over 115K miles, the car has been problem-free and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

  2. Jaylan Denesik 2025-07-06

Overall, you have a great car. However, it may take some time to get used to the CVT, and the acceleration onto the freeway may be unsatisfactory.

  3. Marques West 2025-06-06

If you're light on your feet, you can easily get 43 to 47mpg on the highway. This car has some great dealer-installed options, such as the auto-dimming rearview mirror, splash guards, and more. It's a great little car that looks fantastic from the side, and it has a roomy back seat and trunk. The cruise control works well, and outward visibility is great, especially in the blind spot areas. The AC and heat work fine, and it's pretty quiet on the asphalt highways. Although it's not as comfortable as my 05 Avalon, the mpg is excellent. If you can afford the SV, the power windows, locks, and remote trunk release would be handy. My wife and I bought this car for our son who won't have his license for 2 months, and I have been driving it daily on a 90-mile commute. The car is pretty light, so if it's windy out and you're on the highway, you'll need to focus to keep it between the lines. It would be nice if the car had a telescoping steering wheel, but it's not a deal-breaker. The Bluetooth audio is not great, so I won't be using this feature. Our 96 Sentra with a 1.6L had over 400K and was going strong before hitting a deer and deploying the airbags. Insurance gave us 1,500 for it, and it was a great car. Hopefully, this one will turn out the same.

  4. Kale Raynor 2025-04-15

I'm so glad you chose this car for your daughter! It's a great value compared to other cars in its class, and it's also very fuel-efficient. You'll save a lot of money on gas and fill-ups. Thank you for choosing us!

  5. Sigmund Wiza 2025-02-21

The Nissan Versa is a great car that offers good value for money. While it may not have all the luxury features or high-end components, it is a reliable car that comes at an affordable price. One minor inconvenience is that the car only has a key lock on the driver's side, so if you need to unlock the passenger side, you have to walk around the car. Overall, it's a great car for the price!
