Origin of the name
The name of "Cadillac's first small car" was selected over a revival of LaSalle or the GM design staff's preference, LaScala, primarily because, as noted by GM Marketing Director Gordon Horsburgh, "It had no negatives." The initial suggestion was "Leland" in honor of one of the make's founders but it was rejected because most buyers wouldn't understand the reference and Henry Leland had also founded rival Lincoln.
Hundreds of suggestions were considered: after extensive research, LaSalle was the top pick with St. Moritz a distant second, trailed further by Seville. A troubled past (LaSalle) and difficult pronunciation (St. Moritz) led to the eventual selection of the Seville nameplate.
Seville is the name of a Spanish province and its capital, renowned for its history and treasures of art and architecture. Cadillac had first used the nameplate for a two-door hardtop version of the 1956 Eldorado. 1960 was the last model year for the Eldorado Seville, returning in 1967 under a different name.

IT WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY ENDED UP IN AN ACCIDENT IF I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND HOW CARS WORK. I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTART THE CAR. - Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS
- Summary: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE INTERNAL FLUID LEAKS IN THE BRAKE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT.
- Consequence: WHEN THE REAR BRAKE PROPORTIONING, ANTILOCK BRAKE, TRACTION CONTROL, OR STABILITY CONTROL FEATURE IS ACTIVATED IN SOME DRIVING SITUATIONS, THE FEATURE MAY NOT PERFORM AS DESIGNED.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE ABS HYDRAULIC MODULATOR UNIT AND IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE HYDRAULIC MODULATOR.

- Components: STEERING:LINKAGES:TIE ROD ASSEMBLY
- Summary: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE INNER TIE ROD NUTS ARE LOOSE AND CAN RESULT IN SEPARATION OF A TIE ROD.
- Consequence: SEPARATION OF A TIE ROD CAN CAUSE UNEXPECTED STEERING INPUT INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL CHECK AND ADJUST THE VEHICLE TOE-IN AND TIGHTEN THE INNER TIE ROD NUTS TO THE SPECIFIED TORQUE.

I really love the STS! However, I would suggest making the interior more ergonomic, especially the center console. Additionally, the drink holder could be improved. I have owned five Cadillacs, three of which were the STS model, and I am excited to check out the new STS-V later this year. While I have owned luxury cars from German and Japanese brands like Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus, I have to say that American engineering is really shining with the STS-V. The Lexus is the only one that comes close!

It's great to hear that you find the car fun to drive, and the Bose stereo is truly incredible. Additionally, it's great to know that the car has surprisingly good gas mileage and is very comfortable.

The 2000 Seville STS has been an absolute pleasure to drive in both comfort and style. The instruments, complete with computer options for each driver, are truly exceptional. The seat comfort for all passengers is superb, including four dual-level seat warmers. The sound system, complete with CD cartridge and in-dash, is excellent. The computer-adjusting ride sensors work to perfection, ensuring a smooth ride every time. And best of all, there have been no mechanical problems to speak of.

If you're able to afford the cost of a brand new Cadillac every three years, then you should be in good shape. It's not recommended to buy a used one, as the engine and electronics tend to have a short lifespan. I made the mistake of purchasing a used one and regret it. On the other hand, my stepson bought a Nissan with similar year and mileage, and it runs like a champ with only minor issues due to poor maintenance. Both cars were purchased for around $2k.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to let you know that I checked the vehicle you were interested in on Car Fax and paid the $19.99 fee. According to the report, the title is clear and there are no reported problems. However, I did notice that the car seems to have some mechanical issues despite only having 25,000 miles on it. The ABS doesn't work, the steering is a bit sloppy, and the acceleration is erratic. Additionally, the console wood has been re-painted. I just wanted to give you a heads up that this car may not be the best option for you. It's always important to be cautious when relying solely on a Car Fax check. I don't think anyone would want to buy this car, especially since it was Cadillac Certified and Car Fax certified.
