2007 Cadillac Dts problems
The Cadillac DTS is a full-size car that was built by the American company Cadillac from 2005 until May 2011. It is a four-door sedan that comes in five- or six-seat variants. The DTS debuted at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show and was manufactured at GM's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly factory. It uses GM's G-platform for front-engine, front-wheel-drive automobiles. The DTS was a very mildly revised iteration of the eighth-generation Deville, using the brand's new naming convention, set by the CTS and STS. Writing for the Los Angeles Times, noted reviewer Warren Brown called the DTS "a large, exceptionally comfortable front-wheel-drive luxury sedan." The nameplate DTS is an acronym for DeVille Touring Sedan.
Production and specifications
Compared to its Deville predecessor, the DTS was mildly restyled rather than fully redesigned, featuring revised front-end sheet metal, front fascia, as well as rear decklid, rear quarter, and rear fascia.
The DTS used GM's G-platform, as denoted by the 4th letter in the VIN), and was powered by a transverse 32V Northstar V8, which produced 275 bhp (205 kW) in "Standard", "Luxury" and "Premium" trims. The DTS Platinum was equipped with 292 bhp (218 kW) version.
The base MSRP for the DTS at time of introduction was US$41,195 (equivalent to $64,300 in 2023) which was over 10% lower than the DeVille model it had replaced.
The DTS offered front bucket seats with overall seating for five passengers, and six passenger (i.e., front bench) seating available as an optional feature.
Standard features included multiple airbags, bi-functional xenon high-intensity discharge HID headlamps, leather seating surfaces, and power seats. Optional equipment included heated and cooled front seats and a heated rear seat, rain-sensing wipers, Bose audio system, DVD navigation, automatic dimming headlights, adaptive cruise control and Magnetic Ride Control suspension. A Platinum package became available in 2007 with special interior trim, badging, and other amenities.
GM phased out its small GM fender badges for all its vehicles, starting during the 2010 model year, including those on the DTS.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-11-05
- VIN: 1G6KD57Y47U
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: 2007 Cadillac DTS has been giving me problems with leaking water from either the moon roof or roof itself near driver's door.the floor gets soaked with water and has caused a part called a yaw under the seat to short the wiring out and had to be replaced because it controls the tail lights and tail lights and brake lights were staying stationary when driving so car behind me has no indication whether brakes are being applied.i replaced the yaw but the roof is still leaking and it could happen again and could cause the floor to rot out from repeatedly getting wet when raining.i feel this is a serious safety concern and should be fixed by Cadillac.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-01-11
- VIN: 1G6KD57Y47U
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: Was backing out of my parking space and the warning icons on my dash,(Service brake system, stabiltrack, traction control.4 years ago I had to replace a (yaw) that goes under the driver's seat because moonroof is leaking so I sealed the roof.the yaw controls the stabiltrack.i took it to a auto parts store to get diagnosed and it says speed sensor or possibly a wheel hub.ive owned cars for 50 some years and never had this problem.the car only has 110,000 miles.iam tired of problems related to this issue as I said first was yaw ,now hub for car.there must be other owners that have had this problem.this is supposed to be a luxury automobile and miles aren't high.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-08-06
- VIN: 1G6KD57Y07U
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: We purchased this vehicle four months ago and love it except for: 1)There seems to be some kind of tint on the rear view mirror which makes it very hard to see other vehicles at night, especially at dusk before some drivers turn their headlights on. We know to be very careful, but there is a very high risk for an accident. 2)Exhaust fumes enter the vehicle when stopped while the engine is running, made worse by the fact that the vehicle automatically resets to let outside air in even if we push the button to recirculate the inside air. I can’t imagine that this is healthy for anyone: I’ve had to use my inhaler more often. The situation could be life-threatening for some if one had to sit in traffic for an extended period of time.
SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-10-24
- VIN: 1G6KD57Y47U
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES

I removed the driver's side front wheel and discovered the brake line was almost completely severed and fluid had sprayed out all over the wheel well. Not sure if this was a defect in design or someone had intentionally cut the line.

2007 Cadillac Dts recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 3 recalls for different components of the 2007 Cadillac Dts.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION
- Summary: This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 Buick LaCrosse, 2006-2011 Buick Lucerne, 2000-2005 Cadillac DeVille, 2006-2011 Cadillac DTS, 2006-2014 Chevrolet Impala, and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the weight on the key ring and road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
- Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, a key knocked out of the run position will cause loss of engine power, power steering, and power braking, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 23, 2014. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), and 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). GM's number for this recall is 14299.
- Manufacturer: GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: GM IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006-2009 BUICK, LUCERNE; CADILLAC DTS; HUMMER H2; MODEL YEAR 2008-2009 BUICK ENCLAVE; CADILLAC CTS; MODEL YEAR 2007-2009 CADILLAC ESCALADE, ESCALADE ESV, ESCALADE EXT; CHEVROLET AVALANCHE, SILVERADO, SUBURBAN, TAHOE; GMC ACADIA, SIERRA, YUKON, YUKON XL; SATURN OUTLOOK; AND MODEL YEAR 2009 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A HEATED WASHER FLUID SYSTEM (HWFS). A RECALL WAS IMPLEMENTED IN 2008 TO ADD A FUSE TO THE CONTROL CIRCUIT HARNESS TO ADDRESS THE POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES OF A PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD (PCB) ELECTRICAL SHORT. HOWEVER, THERE HAVE BEEN NEW REPORTS OF THERMAL INCIDENTS ON HWFS MODULES AFTER THIS IMPROVEMENT WAS INSTALLED. THESE INCIDENTS RESULTED FROM A NEW FAILURE MODE ATTRIBUTED TO THE DEVICE'S THERMAL PROTECTION FEATURE. THE SIGNIFICANCE VARIES FROM MINOR DISTORTION TO CONSIDERABLE MELTING OF THE PLASTIC AROUND THE HWFS FLUID CHAMBER.
- Consequence: IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE HEATED WASHER MODULE TO IGNITE AND A FIRE MAY OCCUR.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL PERMANENTLY DISABLE AND REMOVE THE HEATED WASHER FLUID MODULE. AN UPDATED PAGE FOR THE OWNER MANUAL WILL BE PROVIDED AND INSERTED IN THE OWNER MANUAL TO DOCUMENT THAT THE FEATURE HAS BEEN PERMANENTLY DISABLED AND REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 11, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, CADILLAC AT 1-866-982-2339, CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, SATURN AT 1-800-972-8876, GMC AT 1-866-996-9463 AND HUMMER AT 1-800-732-5493 OR AT THE OWNER CENTER AT WWW.GMOWNERCENTER.COM.

A SHORT CIRCUIT ON THE PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD FOR THE WASHER FLUID HEATER MAY OVERHEAT THE CONTROL-CIRCUIT GROUND WIRE.
- Consequence: THIS MAY CAUSE OTHER ELECTRICAL FEATURES TO MALFUNCTION, CREATE AN ODOR, OR CAUSE SMOKE INCREASING THE RISK OF A FIRE.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A WIRE HARNESS WITH AN IN-LINE FUSE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2008. Negative 2007 Cadillac Dts car reviews
Positive 2007 Cadillac Dts car reviews
-
I never thought I'd buy a Cadillac, let alone a DTS. Although the interior is not the most luxurious, and the base speakers could be better, I have grown to love my car. The NorthStar engine is truly amazing and the handling is top-notch. Even at high speeds, the car remains steady and reliable. I appreciate the fact that it doesn't attract too much attention, even from the police. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and capable car.
-
The car is generally comfortable, but there are a few issues with the Northstar engine. I had to have new seals put in at 45000 miles, which is earlier than most people experience. Additionally, the memory on the seat locks into one setting and will not remember. The car has a lot of power, which can cause torque steer problems in a turn from start. The gas mileage is 3.5 mpg worse than my 2004 Deville, which ran on regular, so it costs 4-5 miles per gallon more. Overall, it's a great car, and it would have been even better if they had made a wagon out of it. It can even replace an SUV!
-
Driving the new DTS is an incredibly user-friendly experience. It offers the luxury you deserve without breaking the bank. The '07 Corvette revolutionized performance, and the DTS does the same for luxury. Not only does it look great, but it also provides passengers with a top-level feeling of safety and comfort that is truly impressive.
-
This car combines the best of European driving characteristics with the best of American luxury features to give you, the driver, and your passengers a fine balance of automotive performance. Cadillac has developed a vehicle that will serve the needs of both young and senior drivers.

This is our 5th DTS and it is by far the best one yet. The black on black design is sleek and stylish. It's so quiet that it's almost unbelievable! I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to buy or lease this amazing luxury car. They have truly achieved the perfect blend of everything a luxury automobile should be in this car. I highly recommend this wonderful American-made automobile.

It's really disappointing to have owned so many cars in my life and still end up with a lemon like my 2007 DTS. I've had to take it in for repairs 33 times in just 16 months, including multiple brake jobs, water pump replacements, and motor replacements for the heated/cooled seats. The sunroof also leaks and there have been issues with the low oil pressure sensor. It's been a real eye-opener to the quality of GM vehicles. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be owning another GM vehicle in the future.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with this car. So far, I've driven a few hundred miles and I have to say, it's a solid car with no rattles or surprises. The stereo is excellent and the engine power is sufficient. The fit and finish of the interior is miles ahead of a 2004 model. Overall, it's been a pleasure to drive. Although, I must admit, I was a bit disappointed to find out that such an expensive car only has a 4-speed transmission. Nonetheless, I'm still enjoying the ride!

The car has experienced several issues, such as problems with the cooling system, power steering pump, suspension, and brakes. Additionally, there have been issues with the sunroof leaking and the need for a rear control arm replacement, which is a costly repair. Due to these issues, I have decided to switch back to a foreign car. Considering the initial cost of the car, these issues are unacceptable and reflect poorly on GM's quality standards.

I purchased this car used from a car lot about two months ago, and I immediately fell in love with it. I was very happy with everything, and even decided to invest in new wheels and tires. Recently, I wanted to have the coolant flushed, but my mechanic was unable to do it. I was puzzled by his decision, so I decided to investigate the coolant system myself. Upon doing so, I noticed that the coolant was sludgy and pudding-like. I also discovered a small but steady oil leak coming from underneath the oil pan. After researching the V8 Northstar motor, I realized that fixing the oil leak would require the entire engine to be pulled apart and re-sealed, which would cost a whopping 5K. I also mentioned the thick, sludgy coolant to the service mechanic at Cadillac, and he added another three thousand dollars to the job, assuming it was a blown head gasket. Despite the high cost of repairs, the body of the car is in mint condition, and everything else works beautifully.I considered trading in my car after spending a lot of money on repairs, but the offers I received were not good enough. It was a frustrating experience, but I have decided to repair the car at a Cadillac dealership with a two-year warranty. Although I did not plan to spend so much on the car, I am determined to fix it and move on. I had the engine resealed last August and spent around 8K to fix everything, including some minor issues. The car is running great now and I hope to get at least five more years out of it. Despite the challenges, I am committed to making it work.
