The CTS ended production in 2019 and was replaced by the CT5, which shared its platform with the third and final generation of the CTS in addition to the smaller CT4.

- Summary: I have 2 complaints. #1 The transmission shifts extremely hard in and out of gear 1. This issue a known issue, but GM has no resolution. There is a bulletin. The problem is, my car is no shifting poorly in all gears and causing a serious safety issue at all speeds and gears. It won't go into gear causing safety concerns. I have reported the transmission issue multiple times while under warranty and it is now worse outside of warranty! #2 Adaptive cruise has also been reported multiple times and I have paid to get both front sensors replaced. Only to have the issue continue. The dash will show a car is in the path, but there is a 2-3 second delay before car starts to slow down. Often brakes do not engage and the alarms just go off. I have driven a loaner car of similar years and they do not operate the same. This car is an outlier.

- Summary: A known issue. “Clutch slow to fill” is a defect of the 8 speed transmission that causes the vehicle to violently buck and surge at low speeds and is dangerous as it makes it unreliable when driving at low speeds since it can randomly lunge forward dangerously. Dealership replaced transmission valve body under warranty and flushed transmission twice but problem remains. Dealership claims it can be fixed with an “update” but tried to charge over $300 for the “update” when it is a defect that should have been fixed under warranty for free or have a recall.

TOO MANY ISSUES TO NAME, GM/CADILLAC HAS REFUSED A PROPER REPURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE AND IS STATING THEY WANT A LAWSUIT BROUGHT AGAINST THEM IN ORDER TO GIVE A FAIR SETTLEMENT AS THEY ARE WANTING ME TO PAY LARGER THAN NORMAL DEPRECIATION ON A NON-WORKING VEHICLE IN A REPURCHASE AGREEMENT. THESE ISSUES ARE LIFE THREATENING AND THEY ARE NOT WANTING TO NOTE THE VEHICLE IS A LEMON AND ACTUALLY SELL IT TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER. THE CONTACT DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LOSING FREON, WHICH CAUSED THE AIR CONDITIONER NOT TO FUNCTION. AS A RESULT, THE AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING USED IN A HOT CLIMATE STATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE NHTSA HOTLINE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,857.

- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Cadillac CTS, and 2017 Cadillac ATS, Chevrolet Camaro, and Chevrolet Corvette vehicles. The electric power steering (EPS) assist system may fail.
- Consequence: Loss of power steering assist would require a higher steering effort, especially at lower speeds, which may increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the power steering gear assembly, free of charge. The recall began June 13, 2019. GM' number for this recall is N182182760.

- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Cadillac CTS vehicles, equipped with heated front seats. The flexible heating mats in the front seats may be damaged over time, resulting in the seat heaters producing excessive heat.
- Consequence: In cold ambient temperatures, the seat heaters in these vehicles can turn on automatically when the vehicle is remotely started. If a damaged seat heater is turned on while no one is inside the vehicle, the damaged seat heater can overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will recalibrate the body control module, disabling the automatic activation of the heated seat when the vehicle is remotely started, free of charge. The recall began November 1, 2018. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for the recall is 18286.

I purchased this used 2016 Cadillac CTS last November and it has been an absolute pleasure to drive. It comes equipped with all the latest features, including a heated steering wheel, 3 drive modes, pre-set climate controls, a moonroof, and a great CUE system. Despite some people saying that the CUE system leaves more to be desired, I have found it to be quite satisfactory. The exterior design, with its vertical LED running lights, is also quite eye-catching. Recently, I took a 600+ mile road trip through some challenging weather conditions in the Michigan Upper Peninsula and the car performed beautifully. I would highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a fun and reliable driving experience.

The auto stop feature in cold weather is not ideal as it prevents the car from warming up properly. Additionally, the cruise control functionality could be improved.

I have 37,000 miles on this car and the engine performance, braking & handling remain excellent except for the same issues. However, there are a few things that are less than desirable. The suspension remains shockingly harsh, especially the front and even in Touring mode. When going over bumps like highway milled to paved surfaces the transition patches/ramps can't be absorbed smoothly, making a pothole bone jarring. I don't think the car is meant for run flat tires. Additionally, the road/wind noise is still not quiet enough. Rear seat leg room remains way too cramped and trunk space and accessibility remains very poor. It would have been better if the rear bumper access point was lowered to the trunk floor level. This height difference seriously limits the length of items you can put in and is further limited by the narrow back seat opening. However, I am pleased to report that the Bluetooth and Apple Carplay complaints I had seem to have been resolved at the last dealer maintenance. If they redesigned it, I would consider an XT5, although the front is ugly and the stance should be lower & flat and it badly needs performance! An XT6 would be nice, more aggressive and a hot rod. Overall, I think the car has some room for improvement, but it still has some great features.

When considering purchasing a car, it's important to keep in mind the type of tires it has. Ride flat tires may not be the best option as they can make for a harder ride and you may feel every little bump on the road. Additionally, if you encounter a hole in the road, it can feel like the front end of the car is falling off. In my personal experience, I had to visit the dealer multiple times to replace tires and wheels, and even had to be towed back to the dealer at one point. While I was disappointed with my experience, I understand that every car has its own unique features and drawbacks. It's important to do your research and make an informed decision when purchasing a car. Thank you for considering my experience with the Cadillac CTS Premium.

I recently received a 2016 CTS base model with 4 cyl as a loaner while my 2013 XTS Luxury is being serviced. Although I love the XTS, which is the most comfortable car I've ever owned, I thought about downsizing to the CTS Luxury as I really like the exterior. The appearance is great, and while the interior is basically the same look as my XTS, it is a bit more cramped and the quality is slightly less. However, being a downsize from the XTS, I was not put off by that. The front seat is very comfortable though, and as someone who is 6 ft tall, I had the seat back almost all the way, making the backseat behind me useless. Not a big issue for me, but I thought I'd point it out. The ride, unfortunately, was not great. It's like driving an old pick up, as you feel every pebble and the engine noise can be annoying. Despite this, I did find the front seat to be very comfortable. The biggest issue with this car is the price. They want more for a CTS than my XTS, which is roomy, comfortable and rides like a cloud.

We test drove the 4-cylinder turbo model and unfortunately experienced a high-pitched whine throughout the drive. Additionally, the engine noise was quite loud. Although the car had a great instrument package, it was not functioning properly, which was disappointing given that it was a brand new car. The interior felt cramped, and we also had issues with the selectable ride, which may have been related to the instrument malfunction. Overall, we were not entirely satisfied with our experience. The price point was average for what we were looking for, around 50k, but we were hoping for better value and comfort.

I really like the Cadillac CTS, but I find the seats to be uncomfortable, especially during long drives. The noise level can also be high depending on the type of road surface. However, the car has good gas mileage and the cruise control works well. Overall, I find it to be a satisfactory car, but the seats can be difficult to deal with on long journeys.
