2017 Cadillac Cts problems
The Cadillac CTS is a luxury car, manufactured and marketed by General Motors from 2003 until 2019 across three generations.
Initially available as a 4-door sedan on the GM Sigma platform, GM had offered the second generation CTS in three body styles: 4-door sedan, 2-door coupe, and 5-door sport wagon also using the Sigma platform — and the third generation was offered only as a sedan, using a stretched version of the GM Alpha platform. High performance sedan variants were offered for each generation, as the CTS-V — with wagon and coupe variants offered for the second generation.
Wayne Cherry and Kip Wasenko designed the exterior of the first generation CTS, marking the production debut of a design language marketed as "Art and Science," first used on the Evoq concept car. John Manoogian III directed the second generation CTS design. Bob Boniface and Robin Krieg designed the exterior of the third generation CTS.
The CTS ended production in 2019 and was replaced by the CT5, which shared its platform with the third and final generation of the CTS in addition to the smaller CT4.

Five Year manufacturer warranty and the vehicle is 7 years old, but within the mileage. Without the repair the vehicle is worthless, whereas it is worth @$14,000 {Kelly Blue Book}. Checked online and it is not uncommon for this model and the newer CT-5/6 models to have this issue.

- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: our 2017 Cadillac CTS-V has all of a sudden a cracked CUE screen. The car is garage kept and only has 14395 miles. It just spontaneously cracked. The dealer that is fixing it is making us pay $125 deductible to get it fixed even though there is a class action law suit currently for others that have this same issue. The whole CUE screen cracks in a spider web like formation and makes the screen very difficult to read.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-02-06
- VIN: 1G6AX5SX4H0
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: CADILLAC CUE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WORKS MAYBE 25% OF THE TIME. THE OTHER 75% THE SYSTEM IS UNRESPONSIVE AND GLITCHY. I CAN NOT ACCESS SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURES. THESE SAME FEATURES ARE THE REASON FOR THE INITIAL PURCHASE. BUT BEING THAT I CAN'T USE THEM WHEN I NEED THEM, I AM NOW REGRETTING THE PURCHASE. THIS IS TOO NICE OF A CAR FOR THE BASIC CONTROLS NOT TO BE WORKING MAJORITY OF THE TIME.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-09-21
- VIN: 1G6AR5SS3H0
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: THE CADILLAC CUE COMPUTER SCREEN WHICH CONTROLS THE BLUETOOTH, RADIO & GPS, FROZE IN SEPT 2019. WHILE DRIVING OUT OF STATE OUR BLUETOOTH & GPS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THIS WAS HAPPENING IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS, A COMPLETE OFF & ON WITH THE SCREEN GOING BLACK. DEALERSHIP AGAIN & THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP IS AN HOUR DRIVE EACH WAY. I LEFT FRUSTRATED & AND IT WENT OFF AGAIN. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP & IT WAS PLAYING WHEN I GOT THERE. WHILE WE WERE DISCUSSING THE ISSUE, THE RADIO WENT OFF. WE WAITED AND IN A COUPLE OF MINUTES IT CAME BACK ON. THEY DIDN'T HAVE A LOANER VEHICLE AVAILABLE SO I HAD TO COME BACK SEVERAL DAYS LATER. I MADE THE TRIP AGAIN AND LEFT MY CAR WITH THEM. WHEN THE RADIO WORKED FINE AGAIN, ONE OF THE SERVICE GUYS WONDERED IF IT MIGHT BE THE BLUETOOTH RELATED. HE LINKED HIS APPLE IPHONE TO MY CAR'S BLUETOOTH & WAITED. THE RADIO WENT OFF & IN A FEW MINUTES CAME BACK ON. HE HAD FOUND THE PROBLEM. HE CALLED GM CORPORATE & THEY CONTACTED APPLE. APPLE IS AWARE THAT THEIR LATEST UPDATE IS CAUSING THIS ISSUE & ARE WORKING ON AN UPDATE TO FIX IT. THIS REVELATION ANSWERED THE ISSUE THAT THIS DEALERSHIP WAS HAVING WITH TWO OTHER VEHICLES IN THEIR SERVICE CENTER THAT HAD A DIFFERENT VERSION OF THE CUE. SO FOR NOW I HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN HAVING GPS & A RADIO OR HAVING MY IPHONE BLUETOOTHED & HANDS FREE. IT IS NOW DECEMBER 2019 AND APPLE HASN'T CORRECTED THE ISSUE. HOW MANY 'HANDS FREE' VIOLATIONS AND ACCIDENTS WILL THERE BE BEFORE THIS GETS FIXED? I REALIZE THIS IS AN APPLE ISSUE RATHER THAN A GM ISSUE BUT I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 7 MONTHS AGO & THE SAFETY FEATURES, INCLUDING GPS & BLUETOOTH PLAYED A BIG PART IN MY DECISION. I'M REALLY FRUSTRATED IN NOT BEING ABLE TO USE ALL OF FEATURES OF THE CUE SYSTEM. I'M WRITING THIS IN THE HOPE THAT GM WILL PROGRESSIVELY WORK WITH APPLE TO GET THIS RESOLVED.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-12-12
- VIN: 1G6AX5SSXH0
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: THE CAR HAS 37250 MILES ON IT. 6 MONTHS AGO, IT STARTED SHIFTING ROUGHLY BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. WE TOOK IT TO WALDORF CADILLAC/GM IN WALDORF, MD. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND WOULD TAKE THE FOLLOWING STEPS: FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION, RE-PROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION, REPLACE THE VALVE, AND ULTIMATELY, REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THEY HAVE DONE ALL THE ACTIONS EXCEPT REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND WON'T TAKE FURTHER ACTION. THE CAR SHIFTS SO VIOLENTLY AT TIMES THAT YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOU'RE GOING TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU. WE LIVE IN THE WASHINGTON DC AREA, SO TRAFFIC IS USUALLY STOP-AND-GO. WHEN THE CAR GETS TO THE TOP END OF 1ST GEAR (AROUND 9 MPH) IT HESITATES, THEN SLAMS INTO SECOND GEAR. IT HAS ALSO GOTTEN "STUCK" IN FIRST GEAR, WHILE TURNING ONTO A STREET. THE ENGINE ACCELERATED BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT SO I HAD TO PULL OFF IMMEDIATELY OR RISK BEING HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IT HAS ONLY DONE THIS ONCE SINCE WE STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS.

The auto stop feature in cold weather is not ideal as it prevents the car from warming up properly. Additionally, the cruise control functionality could be improved.

I love this car!

Not a sedan for old men with a plush ride.

Complete luxury with ample space inside. Rides like a charm. Great steering ability. Stylish outside as well as inside. This is my fourth Cadillac CTS👍

I've owned my 2016 CTS 3.6 AWD Luxury package for almost 5 years now, and I still absolutely love driving this car! Even without MRC, this car has a taut, firm ride and sharp, responsive steering. Although it may not have as much practical power as the competing BMW 535xi, Audi A6, and Mercedes E400, this NA V6 has more than enough power for everyday use and surprisingly has a nice growl that is unobtrusively amplified through the Bose sound system in Sport mode. Otherwise, the car is dead silent inside with little wind or road noise. The Bose sound system is not bad - not great, but better than most Bose systems I've experienced. I have no issue with the updated CUE interface in this car, and the touch-sensitive controls are complemented by a comprehensive set of steering wheel controls (although nothing beats knobs for volume and tuning). The Nav interface is very dated and the included maps are hopelessly old. However, the backup camera resolution has been improved with an updated, upgraded part that makes it acceptable. The interior is Every time I get back into my CTS after driving another car for a while, I appreciate this car even more. It's been 7.5 years since I bought it, and I still feel that GM hit it out of the park with this one. It's sad that more people didn't appreciate it. The design is almost 10 years old, but it still looks great, and the interior has held up very well. However, there are two areas that have not done so well. The machined finish wheels tend to corrode and peel due to water getting in under the clearcoat. The steel components in the suspension and underbody also have extensive surface corrosion due to poor quality finishing. Although these issues became evident in the first 4 years, they were not considered a defect by GM and were not covered under the warranty. My biggest gripe with the car is poor dealership service. There is really no differentiation on the service side between Cadillac and Chevrolet, which is unacceptable when you buy a premium luxury brand. Despite this, I still intend to keep this car for several more years. However, I am certain that it will be my last Cadillac, not because of the car, but rather the horrible service experience.

I recently test drove the new Luxury Cadillac CTS 4 (all wheel drive) and unfortunately found it to be disappointing. The ride quality is still the same as it was 25 years ago, and there is a lot of noise from the tires, exhaust, and engine that comes through even when the stereo is set on low. Additionally, the car lacks innovation and technology, and its poor aerodynamics result in poor mileage. The car is also very heavy for no obvious reason, which makes it feel outdated. While Mercedes has introduced touch shift, GM has yet to follow suit, and Cadillac has yet to match the quietness of Lexus. Overall, I was disappointed with the car's performance and innovation, and I would choose a Mercedes or Lexus over this manufacturer's offerings. The car is priced at $65,000 and I was told it rides like a Cadillac, but if you're looking for poor quality from a U.S. automaker, this might be the car for you. I recommend test driving a Lexus or Mercedes first, as I think you'll be disappointed in the Cadillac, just as I was. However, I'm open to giving Cadillac another chance in the future if they improve their planning and innovation.

When considering purchasing a car, it's important to keep in mind the type of tires it has. Ride flat tires may not be the best option as they can make for a harder ride and you may feel every little bump on the road. Additionally, if you encounter a hole in the road, it can feel like the front end of the car is falling off. In my personal experience, I had to visit the dealer multiple times to replace tires and wheels, and even had to be towed back to the dealer at one point. While I was disappointed with my experience, I understand that every car has its own unique features and drawbacks. It's important to do your research and make an informed decision when purchasing a car. Thank you for considering my experience with the Cadillac CTS Premium.

We test drove the 4-cylinder turbo model and unfortunately experienced a high-pitched whine throughout the drive. Additionally, the engine noise was quite loud. Although the car had a great instrument package, it was not functioning properly, which was disappointing given that it was a brand new vehicle. The interior felt cramped, and we also had issues with the selectable ride, which may have been related to the instrument malfunction. Overall, we were not entirely satisfied with our experience. The price point was average for what we were looking for, but we were hoping for better value and comfort.

I recently traded in my Audi A6 for a Cadillac CTS based on the recommendation of a friend who owned one. Although my experience with the Cadillac has not been as positive as I had hoped, I still value my friend's opinion. The 4 cylinder 2.0 turbo engine does not sound as refined as I expected and I have experienced some 'turbo lag', which the dealer explained is normal for turbos. The information system can be difficult to operate while driving and the run flat tires can be challenging to drive on in cold weather. Additionally, the tires only lasted 17,000 miles. While the handling and cabin noise were average, the heated/cooled seats did not perform as well as I had hoped. However, the Bose sound system is a standout feature and one of the best aspects of the vehicle.

Well, it's unfortunate to say that over time, the Craftsman has not held up well. There are noticeable creaks and rattles, and the CUE system is no longer functioning properly. The transmission also experiences some lurching and bucking. However, I have recently purchased a Mercedes E-350 and the quality, ride, and performance are light years ahead. It's been a great investment!
