2017 Bmw M2 problems
The BMW M2 is a version of the BMW 2 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. As the 2 Series replaced the 1 Series coupé and convertible models, the first-generation M2 was marketed as the most basic M model in the range.
The first-generation M2 used the F8x chassis from the M3/M4, codenamed F87 and featured the BMW N55 series engine, while its successors, the M2 Competition and M2 CS, featured a twin-turbocharged engine developed by BMW M GmbH (S55 engine).
First generation (F87; 2016)

The M2 was unveiled in Need for Speed in November 2015, before later premiering at the North American International Auto Show in January 2016. Production commenced in October 2015, first delivered early 2016 and the M2 was only available as a rear-wheel drive coupé. The M2 is powered by the turbocharged 3.0-litre N55B30T0 straight-six engine rated at 272 kW (365 hp) at 6,500 rpm and 465 N⋅m (343 lb⋅ft) between 1,450 and 4,750 rpm, while an overboost function temporarily increases torque to 500 N⋅m (369 lb⋅ft). The M2 features reinforced pistons, and has lighter aluminium front and rear suspension components resulting in a 5 kg (11 lb) weight reduction. The M2 is available with a 6-speed manual or with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. 0–100 km/h acceleration times are 4.5 seconds manual transmission models and 4.3 seconds for models equipped with the 7-speed dual clutch transmission. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph) but could be extended to 270 km/h (168 mph) with the optional M Driver's package. The M2 was used as a safety car in the 2016 MotoGP season.

ENGINE PROBLEM

- Summary: The charge pipe, connecting the cold side of the intercooler to the throttle body failed without warning. The failure point was the clamping point to secure the pipe to the throttle body. This vehicle has no powertrain modifications. The failure happened all of a sudden and as a result, my vehicle lost all power. Luckily, there wasn't anyone behind my car when this happened, but this could have easily been a big safety issue had I been merging onto a freeway/taking a left turn. I have not gotten the issue inspected by the dealer. The failure was easily visible. Parts of the charge pipe and broken off and fallen on the undertray. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone apart from myself. There were no warning signs prior to the failure. Even after the failure, the check engine light took ~2 miles of driving to come on. On BMW forums, this seems to be a very common issue for many people running their car in stock condition.

- Summary: THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGES (SPEED AND RPM) ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO READ UNDER BOTH BRIGHT SUNNY CONDITIONS, AND DARK SHADOW CONDITIONS (IN A TUNNEL, OR IN SHADE). WEARING SUNGLASSES? FORGET SEEING THEM AT ALL. I FIND IT A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN I HAVE TO GLANCE DOWN AT THE GAUGES LONGER THAN NECESSARY AND TAKE MY EYES OFF THE ROAD, AND SQUINT TO DECIPHER WHAT SPEED I'M GOING. THE ONLY WAY TO HELP THIS (BUT NOT COMPLETELY) IS TO TURN ON THE PARKING LIGHTS WHICH TURNS ON THE BACKLIGHT. AT DUSK OR AT NIGHT IT READS FINE, BUT IN DAYLIGHT SUN OR SHADE IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. I FIND IT TO BE A SERIOUS DESIGN AND SAFETY FLAW AND DANGEROUS. PLEASE INVESTIGATE TO SEE IF THIS CAN BE REMEDIED BY THE MANUFACTURER EITHER BY A SOFTWARE UPDATE, OR CLUSTER MODIFICATION. THANK YOU

THE 2018 MODELS HAVE A NEW GAUGE THAT SOLVES THIS ISSUE. I THINK IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE PRE-2018 CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED TO HAVE THIS NEW CLUSTER INSTALLED BY BMW.

YOU CAN'T EVEN READ THE SPEEDOMETER OR RPMS AT A GLANCE WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I ALMOST CRASHED MULTIPLE TIMES TRYING TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER AND FUEL GAUGES. THE CONSOLE LIGHT WHEEL KNOB IS ALREADY TURNED ALL THE WAY UP. I CHECKED ALL THE OPTIONS ALREADY AND THERE IS NOTHING THERE TO CONTROL THE GAUGES CLUSTER ILLUMINATION. I HAVE CONTACTED BMW NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY HAVE IGNORED ALL OF MY INQUIRIES. THIS IS REALLY DISAPPOINTING FROM BMW. A 60K CAR SHOULDN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM. WHEN DRIVING THROUGH A GARAGE OR TREE COVER OR CLOUDY CONDITIONS YOU CAN'T READ THE SPEED YOU'RE GOING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. THERE ARE POSTS REGARDING THIS ON OFFICIAL BMW FORUMS. PLEASE HAVE BMW PERFORM RECALLS OR FIX THIS.

AN EXAMPLE OF THIS WOULD BE DRIVING THROUGH A WOODED AREA IN FULL DAYLIGHT. IT APPEARS THAT THIS ISSUE IS CREATED BE TWO ISSUES. FIRST, THE COLOR OF THE BACKGROUND AND LETTERING ON THE GAUGES THEMSELVES DO NOT CREATE ENOUGH CONTRASTING. SECOND, THE AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR DOES NOT APPEAR TO PICK UP WHEN THIS SITUATION IS HAPPENING AND ENGAGE THE BACKLIGHTING FOR THE CONSOLE. THIS ISSUE MAKES IT VERY HARD, OR IMPOSSIBLE, TO DETERMINE SPEED AT A QUICK GLANCE AND COULD REQUIRE MORE TIME LOOKING AT THE GAUGES THAN USUAL, DISTRACTING FROM WATCHING THE ROAD.
