2020 Bmw M2 problems
The BMW M2 is a version of the BMW 2 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. As the 2 Series replaced the 1 Series coupé and convertible models, the first-generation M2 was marketed as the most basic M model in the range.
The first-generation M2 used the F8x chassis from the M3/M4, codenamed F87 and featured the BMW N55 series engine, while its successors, the M2 Competition and M2 CS, featured a twin-turbocharged engine developed by BMW M GmbH (S55 engine).
First generation (F87; 2016)

The M2 was unveiled in Need for Speed in November 2015, before later premiering at the North American International Auto Show in January 2016. Production commenced in October 2015, first delivered early 2016 and the M2 was only available as a rear-wheel drive coupé. The M2 is powered by the turbocharged 3.0-litre N55B30T0 straight-six engine rated at 272 kW (365 hp) at 6,500 rpm and 465 N⋅m (343 lb⋅ft) between 1,450 and 4,750 rpm, while an overboost function temporarily increases torque to 500 N⋅m (369 lb⋅ft). The M2 features reinforced pistons, and has lighter aluminium front and rear suspension components resulting in a 5 kg (11 lb) weight reduction. The M2 is available with a 6-speed manual or with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. 0–100 km/h acceleration times are 4.5 seconds manual transmission models and 4.3 seconds for models equipped with the 7-speed dual clutch transmission. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph) but could be extended to 270 km/h (168 mph) with the optional M Driver's package. The M2 was used as a safety car in the 2016 MotoGP season.

Common 2020 Bmw M2 problems

A recall was issued in the USA for late models produced in 2020 and 2021 due to fuel injectors missing a damping component, which could cause fuel line leaks.
- Software glitches: Some BMW M2 models, particularly those produced between 2015 and 2017, experienced software glitches on the digital gauge cluster. A recall was made in December 2018 to reprogram the unit, and affected vehicles had their gauges replaced if the issue persisted .
- Rear subframe bolts: An earlier recall was made in the USA due to rear subframe bolts being reused at dealers when servicing the rear differential in 2016. This issue can lead to potential suspension problems, and it's essential to check if the vehicle has had the necessary repairs .

It's fun to drive with a lot of power. I chose to get the 6 Speed Manual. As for the reliability I will rate this off my last 4 BMW of which I had very few issues. They were all reliable.

The reliability of the OG m2 is quite good. Some common issues that can happen is the valvetronic system tends to fail over time or very oddly when the car is brand new (maybe break in metals clogging the oil squirters, I have no clue).

It's a great car and the different driving modes with comfort, M1 & M2 are incredible for different ways enjoying the car on the 40-50 mile daily commutes.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 2 recalls for different components of the 2020 Bmw M2.
- Manufacturer: BMW of North America, LLC
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM
- Summary: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2020-2021 M2 Coupe and 2020 M4 Coupe vehicles. Fuel injectors may have been installed without a damping component which is used to reduce vibration. If a damping component is not present, vibration will increase at the connection between the fuel line and the fuel rail, which over time, can result in damage at the connection.
- Consequence: A damaged connection between the fuel line and the fuel rail could lead to a fuel leak and, in the presence of an ignition source, increase the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel injectors and if a damping component is missing, the injectors and the fuel rail will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began December 18, 2020. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

- Components: AIR BAGS:KNEE BOLSTER
- Summary: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2019-2020 230i, 230i xDrive, M240i, M240i xDrive, M2 Competition Coupe, 430i, 430i xDrive, 440i, 440i xDrive, M4, and 2019 330i xDrive Sportswagon vehicles. The driver and passenger knee air bag assemblies may have been improperly folded and assembled.
- Consequence: An improperly folded and assembled air bag may not deploy as intended, increasing risk of injury.
- Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the knee air bag modules, free of charge. The recall began July 8, 2019. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Just for reference, I am a 53-year-old male. I have owned nine BMWs, but this is my first M car. It was the first car I ever purchased without a test drive because it had to be ordered. My dealer was great and allowed for a European Delivery at the WELT center in Munich. I highly recommend this delivery, but that's another story. The car has so much usable power, going from 0 to 60 in about 4 seconds. It always feels under control, and it would be hard to find a car with better brakes. The 2017 models have the new IDrive 5.0, which is a great system and easy to use. This car also has the SMG Auto trans, executive package, and apple car play. That is every option. It is easy to order one, just pick one of four colors, pick the interior (only black), and check any of the three or four options. I love the looks of this car, it is very stealth, and the exhaust is pitch perfect. In my humble opinion, there is not a better sports car value for performance vs price. There's a saying, 'If you get out of your car and don't look back after walking away, you bought the wrong car.' I always look back at this beauty.

I've been driving for over 30 years and have had the pleasure of driving hundreds of different vehicles, including owning a few dozen myself, such as 2 AMGs, 4 Porsches, a Lotus, and 6 M cars. Out of all of them, the M2 C is definitely one of my all-time favorites. It's a fantastic all-rounder, comfortable for daily use, but still fun and special when you really push it. It's an amazing vehicle, especially when you consider the price. Personally, I opted for the 6-speed manual and have no regrets. Only a select few have had the chance to drive it, but it never fails to impress. Update: It's been 3 years and 7k miles since I've owned it. I've looked at and driven other alternatives, but all it takes is a 10-minute drive to remind me why I love my M2 Comp. While I do wish the interior had an upgrade option for a leather dash and door caps, it's a relatively trivial concern as the mechanics are spot on. I still love my M2 Comp and see no reason to sell it.

The car is just the right size, handles great, has impressive speed, and offers ample room for two people along with good luggage space. It is reasonably priced and works perfectly as an everyday driver. But most importantly, it is incredibly fun to drive, even more so than my E46.

The DCT allows for a good mpg. However, we can still enjoy strong accelerations when we want to. Some people say that the ride is stiff, but I would correct it by saying that the road quality is probably poor.
