2018 Audi Tt problems
The Audi TT is a production front-engine, 2-door, 2+2 sports coupé and roadster, manufactured and marketed by Audi from 1998 to 2023 across three generations.
For each of its three generations, the TT has been based on consecutive generations of Volkswagen's "Group A" platforms, starting with its "PQ34" fourth generation. The TT shares powertrain and suspension layouts with its platform mates, including the Audi A3, like a transversely mounted front-engine, powering front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and fully independent suspension using MacPherson struts in front.
The TT's first two generations were assembled by Audi's Hungarian subsidiary, one of the world's largest engine manufacturing plants, using bodyshells manufactured and painted at Audi's Ingolstadt plant and parts made entirely by the Hungarian factory for the third generation.
The last of the 662,762 Audi TTs was manufactured in November 2023.

Common 2018 Audi Tt problems
The Audi TT, a luxury sports vehicle, has been known to have several common problems across various model years. While the 2018 Audi TT may not be the worst model year, it still has its fair share of issues that potential buyers should be aware of.
- Fuel Tank Damage: The fuel tank could be damaged in the event of a collision, particularly in models manufactured between 29 April 2014 and 24 May 2019. If your example is affected, it will need to have a shield installed between the bracket and the tank itself to prevent it from being damaged.
- Water Leaks: TTs have been reported to suffer from water leaks, usually caused by the drainage tubes for the roof blocking up and overflowing. These can lead to flooding inside the car that, if severe enough, can cause serious problems with the electrics. It’s therefore imperative to check for signs of water in the car; this could include damp carpets or upholstery, or water stains on the carpets or seats.
- Rattles and Squeaks: Some owners have reported rattles and squeaks from some parts of the interior trim. Make sure to drive the car you’re thinking of buying with the radio off and the roof up to listen out for any such issues.
- Electrical Issues: Electrical issues have been a common problem across various model years of the Audi TT. For instance, the 2000 Audi TT has 89 reported faults and complaints, with 30 of them related to electrical issues.
- Engine and Transmission Problems: The 2004 Audi TT has been rated as the worst model year due to possible factors such as higher repair cost or more problems at lower mileage. The most-reported problem is with the 2001 Audi TT for instrument cluster failure, with an average cost to fix of $7,500 and an average mileage of 45,000 mi.
While the 2018 Audi TT may not be the worst model year, it is essential to be aware of these common problems and consider them when purchasing this vehicle. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent or identify these issues early on, potentially saving owners from costly repairs.

The TT (or TTS) is a fantastic car if you don't need to transport many people. It comes with Quattro AWD, making it an ideal year-round vehicle. The design is spot on and I often receive compliments on mine. I've owned it since 2018 and have had no issues with it. The performance is impressive, it's fast and handles well. With the scarcity of sports coupes on the market, the TT stands out and it's easy to see why it has always been so popular. It's unfortunate that Audi will be discontinuing the TT line next year (2023).

While the car has some nice electronics and a sporty look, it is unfortunately quite overpriced. Additionally, it has some issues with bugs and can be expensive to own, with insurance costs being particularly high. In my opinion, the car may only be worth around $35,000, but it is currently being sold for at least $50,000 to $60,000. For that price range, I would recommend considering a Porsche instead.
