Common 2008 Aston martin V8 vantage problems

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage, produced in 2008, is known for its luxurious design and powerful performance. However, it has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners.

One of the most common issues is related to the electrics of the car. Owners have reported problems with the electrics, especially relating to the sat-nav and air-con. The car's electrics can be slow to respond, leading to frustration for drivers. Additionally, there have been recalls related to defective seat heaters, where the electronic control module caused the off switch to malfunction, leading to the front seats heating up indefinitely.

Another common problem is related to the clutch. The clutch on the 2008 Aston Martin V8 Vantage is prone to breaking every few thousand miles, with repair costs estimated to be around $5,000 with labor charges. The average annual maintenance cost of a 2008 Vantage is about $1500, making it an expensive car to maintain.

The interior of the car is also known to have issues. Despite efforts to improve the interior, the 2008 Vantage's Achilles' heel remains visible in its details. Several components were undeniably sourced from Volvo, including the sat-nav, key fob, and door mirror switches. These inconceivable features detract from the car's otherwise luxurious appearance, making it feel cheap instead.

Mechanical latches that control the boot latch and hood latch are also known to randomly fail and decide not to open anymore. This can leave drivers stranded and in need of a tow

The Sportshift transmission is also known to have several issues. Gears don't engage properly, the transmission slips, and the handbrake often doesn't recognize that it's been disengaged. These issues can lead to a frustrating driving experience and can be difficult to fix

In summary, while the Aston Martin V8 Vantage is a luxurious and powerful car, it is known to have several common problems. These include issues with the electrics, clutch, interior, mechanical latches, and Sportshift transmission. These issues can lead to frustration and high maintenance costs for drivers.

Is a 2008 Aston Martin reliable?

A Used 2008 Aston Martin Vantage Is Very Expensive To Maintain. Aston Martin cars are reliable. The problem is that this is only true for vehicles built after 2010. The earlier Aston Martins, like the 2008 Vantage, has nightmarish reliability with no discount on maintenance.

Is Aston Martin V8 Vantage reliable?

For such a high-performance machine, the V8 Vantage's dependability is impressive. Any early niggles have long since been addressed and the car enjoys a reputation for excellent reliability.

Is an Aston Martin V8 Vantage a good investment?

Not a bad investment! That said, we think a 1970's V8 is a perfect car if you're looking to invest in this range. If you hit the jackpot and manage to find one that's been properly serviced and with low mileage, we'd say it's the best car you can find for your money.

The car moved approximately 6 feet from where it was parked. This is a very dangerous condition. If a child was in front of the car they would be dead or very seriously injured. Negative 2008 Aston martin V8 vantage car reviews

  1. Devante Padberg 2024-03-23

I had some issues with the AM V8, such as failing gearboxes, lack of torque, and smouldering clutches. Unfortunately, the technical team at AM did not provide satisfactory explanations for the lack of quality. As a result, I decided to sell the car after only eight months. If you're looking for a reliable car that retains its value, I would recommend a Porsche 911 S with a sports exhaust and the sport chrono option. Although it may not be as visually stunning as the V8, it is faster, more reliable, and more affordable. It's worth noting that the quality issues with the AM V8 may cause its residual value to decrease. If you're considering purchasing a used car, be sure to check its warranty history.

Positive 2008 Aston martin V8 vantage car reviews

  1. Gregg Jaskolski 2025-01-01

Hey there! I'm another car enthusiast who recently made the switch from Porsche to Aston. Don't get me wrong, I've had a blast with my 5 different Porsches over the last 10 years, including the latest 997 C2S. But there's just something about the exclusivity of an Aston that really sets it apart. I know there's been some talk about reliability issues, but once you hear that engine revving above 4000 rpm, all those worries just fade away. It's such a cool car that provides a ton of satisfaction, even without the need for speed. No doubt about it!

  2. Lennie Considine 2024-09-27

I took delivery in May and have had my best driving experiences ever since then. The looks of this car get almost too much attention, but it always gets a 'thumbs up'.

  3. Osvaldo Lemke 2024-09-21

I traded my 2006 coupe for a leftover 2007 roadster and I couldn't be happier. The '06 had several early production problems, which were sorted out by AM nicely. This car, on the other hand, is simply perfect. In my opinion, it looks even better than the coupe and the sportshift (once you get used to it) is even more fun than the manual, allowing for even more aggressive driving on the twisties. The top fits well and the car is quiet with it up. Wind buffeting is not much of a problem top down. I get even more thumbs up and admiring looks in the roadster than in the coupe. This is a very special, very exclusive car. To the best of my knowledge, there are only three in KC and I have yet to see the other two.

  4. Garland Morissette 2024-06-29

I have one of the first US Vantage V8s and I must say, it is a brilliant car to drive. In my opinion, it surpasses any 911 that I have driven. The looks, build quality and exclusivity are spot on. Well done AM!

  5. Freeman Stracke 2024-05-18

I have to say, I absolutely love pushing the crystal ignition button and hearing the guttural vroom that gets me on my way. I adore the looks and drive of this vehicle. Previously, I drove a BMW 540i and I currently also own a Dodge Viper. I have had no major problems with the vehicle.
