These common problems highlight the importance of thorough research and understanding the potential issues associated with owning an Aston Martin V8 Vantage 2006. Regular maintenance, careful driving habits, and prompt attention to any emerging issues can help mitigate these challenges and ensure a more enjoyable ownership experience.
Is the 2006 Aston Martin Vantage reliable?
It is totally different than my DB9, much more fun to drive and the sound from the engine as you run through the gears is amazing. Service is a bit high but on a par with most exotics and drastically less than Ferrari maintenance. Reliability has been excellent, it is my daily driver.
How reliable is the Aston Martin Vantage V8?
Is the V8 Vantage reliable? For such a high-performance machine, the V8 Vantage's dependability is impressive. Any early niggles have long since been addressed and the car enjoys a reputation for excellent reliability.
Is an Aston Martin V8 Vantage a good investment?
Not a bad investment! That said, we think a 1970's V8 is a perfect car if you're looking to invest in this range. If you hit the jackpot and manage to find one that's been properly serviced and with low mileage, we'd say it's the best car you can find for your money.
Can you daily drive a V8 Vantage?
No problem with using it daily, and the coupe is very practical with generous luggage space. Obviously if you do 6-10k miles a year or more, the maintenance will come around more quickly. As with any used car, check the history and what maintenance its had in recent years.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-10-10
- VIN: SCFBB03B06G
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: FACTORY HEADLIGHTS SUFFER FROM SEVERE CONDENSATION. THIS CAUSES POOR ROAD ILLUMINATION AND EXCESSIVE DIFFRACTION OF LIGHT. IT ALSO CAUSED COMPONENTS TO FAIL INCLUDING THE TURNING INDICATOR LEDS THAT ARE BUILT INTO THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING. THE TAIL LIGHTS SUFFERED THE SAME CONDITION. CAUSING INDICATORS AND BRAKE LIGHTS TO FAIL.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-06-10
- VIN: SCFBB03B86G
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: THE CONTROL CIRCUIT BOARD FAILED INSIDE THE LEFT HEADLIGHT. THE LEFT FRONT TURN SIGNAL THEREFORE DOES NOT WORK, AND THE BOARD IS NOT AVAILABLE BY ITSELF. A YEAR LATER (6/2019) THE LEFT REAR TAIL LIGHT DEVELOPED CONDENSATION AND THE BRAKE LIGHT AND TURN SIGNAL FAILED. THESE ARE VERY COMMON PROBLEMS FOR THIS CAR AND NOT REPAIRABLE. OFFICIALLY A NEW HEADLIGHT AND NEW TAIL LIGHT WOULD BE NEEDED. THIS WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $2500+ FOR JUST ONE TAILLIGHT AND ONE HEADLIGHT PLUS LIKELY 5+HRS LABOR. IT IS VERY LIKELY THE RIGHT SIDE LIGHTS WILL FAIL SOME DAY. TURN SIGNALS SHOULD BE REPAIRABLE. THE CAR IS OVERALL IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, BUT I AM NOT SURE A CAR LIKE THIS SHOULD NEED $6000 IN TURNSIGNAL REPAIRS IN ITS LIFETIME.

I have owned several different model Porsches, but my 2007 AM Vantage stands out in terms of looks, attention, and driving pleasure. This car is truly stunning and exudes quality in every way. From the low growl when pressing the start button to the exciting sound when reaching 4000 rpm, it never fails to impress. Some may argue that the 380 horse power engine is not enough, but for a non-racer like me, it has plenty of responsiveness. The amount of positive attention and accolades you receive in driving this car is often overwhelming. I could write a book on the overwhelmingly positive public reaction this car draws.

I received my Vantage in December 2006 and have driven 7000 miles so far (as of June 2007). I absolutely love the ride, quality, and beauty of the car. Having owned Porsches, BMWs, and a Ferrari, my expectations for the Aston were high. I am happy to say that the car has met and exceeded those expectations. The handling has been the biggest surprise, better than I hoped. Although not as tight as the Carrera, it is extremely easy to drive the car on winding roads with lots of confidence. I haven't driven the car on the track as I did the Porsche, so I can't compare the hard-driving experience, but that isn't what I bought the Aston for.

I waited 686 days from the date I placed my deposit until delivery of my Vantage. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely! I've been driving Corvettes for over 20 years and I love them...but the Vantage is on a whole other level. Yes, the Vantage is expensive, but the style and performance are simply perfect. The handling on winding mountain roads is absolutely incredible. The engine sings and begs you to open the windows and turn off the great sound system. I've been driving manual transmissions my entire life and nothing comes close to this 6-speed gearbox. If you really love to drive cars and can afford the price, I highly recommend you take the plunge and go for it. I absolutely adore it!

I love this car! It's absolutely stunning and performs like a dream. It may be a bit of a challenge for larger individuals to get in, but once you're seated, it's pure perfection. Honestly, there's very little that could be done to improve this car.

I took delivery in May and have had my best driving experiences ever since then. The looks of this car get almost too much attention, but it always gets a 'thumbs up'.

I had some issues with the AM V8, such as failing gearboxes, lack of torque, and smouldering clutches. Unfortunately, the technical team at AM did not provide satisfactory explanations for the lack of quality. As a result, I decided to sell the car after only eight months. If you're looking for a reliable car that retains its value, I would recommend a Porsche 911 S with a sports exhaust and the sport chrono option. Although it may not be as visually stunning as the V8, it is faster, more reliable, and more affordable. It's worth noting that the quality issues with the AM V8 may cause its residual value to decrease. If you're considering purchasing a used car, be sure to check its warranty history.
