POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-07-01
  • VIN: SCFEKBAL8FG
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: Hydraulic hoses connected to the shifting mechanism on the sportshift 2 (automated transmission) ruptured or prematurely corroded at connection of fittings, causing hydraulic oil to be spilled onto the undercarriage of the vehicle and onto transaxle and rear tires. This causes the potential hazard of catastrophic lockup of the transmission while vehicle is in movement and/or the potential loss of traction at the rear wheels of the vehicle possibly resulting in loss of vehicle control. This is a known issue/defect that needs to be addressed on all Vantages equipped with this transmission. This is similar to Sportshift recall C19054 / RA-07-0024 issued July 2017

Negative 2015 Aston martin V8 vantage car reviews

  1. Michale McLaughlin 2025-06-10

I really liked the car's curb and highway appeal, but unfortunately, both the manual and automatic transmissions were not reliable. My experience with the 2007 standard transmission Vantage Coupe was not great as it stalled on the freeway or highway five times, which was quite scary. However, Aston Martin replaced the car with a 2008 Vantage that had an Automatic Transmission. Although the transmission was always rough at the start of the day, with the vehicle shuddering at each stop, the dealer never recognized the problem and said I did not know how to drive the car. At considerable expense, I paid off the lease early and got rid of the car.

  2. Brandt Leffler 2025-04-27

I had some issues with the AM V8, such as failing gearboxes, lack of torque, and smouldering clutches. Unfortunately, the technical team at AM did not provide satisfactory explanations for the lack of quality. As a result, I decided to sell the car after only eight months. If you're looking for a reliable car that retains its value, I would recommend a Porsche 911 S with a sports exhaust and the sport chrono option. Although it may not be as visually stunning as the V8, it is faster, more reliable, and more affordable. It's worth noting that the quality issues with the AM V8 may cause its residual value to decrease. If you're considering purchasing a used car, be sure to check its warranty history.

  3. Esteban Tromp 2024-11-02

This car has been a bit of a disappointment. On the first day, the clutch went out and it had to be picked up by a flatbed. Unfortunately, the dealer needs it for 10 days and the part has to be ordered from the U.K. It's hard to trust a car again after it strands you, but I'm hopeful that once it's fixed, it will be a reliable vehicle. I did notice that the leather above the speedo/tach is coming off and you can see the staples that hold it down on the underside. It's not exactly what you would expect from a luxury car. However, I still believe that this car has potential and I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs once it's back on the road. In the future, I may stick with BMW's and Lexus's, but for now, I'm willing to give this car another chance.

  4. David Welch 2024-08-07

Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with my 2nd Aston Martin. I have to say, the engine is truly excellent and reliable, which is always a plus in a high-performance car like this. While the road holding is okay for regular highway driving, I did notice that the suspension can be a bit of an issue, especially in fast and tight corners. However, I still think it's a great car overall and I would definitely consider buying one again despite the unsophisticated ride. Thanks for listening!

Positive 2015 Aston martin V8 vantage car reviews

  1. Monserrat Hettinger 2025-09-10

I have to say, I absolutely love pushing the crystal ignition button and hearing the guttural vroom that gets me on my way. I adore the looks and drive of this vehicle. Previously, I drove a BMW 540i and I currently also own a Dodge Viper. I have had no major problems with the vehicle.

  2. Gaston Marvin 2025-09-07

I've had this car for around 3 months and have already driven it for about 5600 miles! I absolutely adore driving it! Listening to the exhaust while putting the top down is pure bliss. Who needs a radio when you have this 4.7L V8 symphony? It's incredibly comfortable, I've driven it for hundreds of miles on day trips and never felt tired. The trunk space isn't much, but it's enough to fit my golf bag, shoes, and backpack at the same time, so it's good enough for me. The only real issue I have with the car is the transmission. In auto mode and in normal driving, it's slow and jerky, but in sport with the throttle down, it's much better.

  3. Kennedy Prosacco 2025-09-02

I received my Vantage in December 2006 and have driven 7000 miles so far (as of June 2007). I absolutely love the ride, quality, and beauty of the car. Having owned Porsches, BMWs, and a Ferrari, my expectations for the Aston were high. I am happy to say that the car has met and exceeded those expectations. The handling has been the biggest surprise, better than I hoped. Although not as tight as the Carrera, it is extremely easy to drive the car on winding roads with lots of confidence. I haven't driven the car on the track as I did the Porsche, so I can't compare hard-driving experience, but that isn't what I bought the Aston for.

  4. Franco Kling 2025-08-29

This car is a real head-turner! It's easy to maneuver on the freeway and can compete with more expensive performance vehicles. However, it may not be the fastest car on the road. The car handles well, especially if you use the paddle controls. When parking, be sure to choose shaded areas as key computer components are located where extreme heat might cause problems. To prevent battery issues when using it as a second car, use a trickle charge. Never try to jump-start the car or hit the trunk button for reserve/non-driving mode. The manual is not the same as the car details. I replaced the computers and such. The location of the GPS screen is not ideal, so it's best to know where you're going so you never need it! Consider upgrading with a backup camera and maybe a forward camera to avoid parking issues. It's a small car that sits low, so be aware. The rearview mirror darkens to a point where you cannot judge traffic behind, and the sun shields are decorative! The windshield hits most vision at a bad spot. If the battery is depleted, do not mess with any seat controls. Take it to an Aston Martin dealer for service. Although insurance is pricey even with a great rating and low miles, maintenance is fairly cheap with a great mechanic.

  5. Chester Koelpin 2025-08-24

Hey there! I'm another car enthusiast who recently made the switch from Porsche to Aston. Don't get me wrong, I've had a blast with my 5 different Porsches over the last 10 years, including the latest 997 C2S. But for me, exclusivity is key, and that's where Aston really shines. I know there's been some talk about reliability issues, but once you hear that engine sound above 4000 rpm, all the bad stuff just fades away. It's such a cool car that brings so much satisfaction, even without the need for speed. No doubt about it!
