2008 Gmc Yukon problems
The Chevrolet Tahoe, and its badge-engineered GMC Yukon counterpart, are full-size SUVs and other trucks from General Motors, offered since 1994 and 1991, respectively. Since 1982, Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their "Blazer" and "Jimmy" nameplates, by introducing the smaller S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy for the 1983 model year, below the full-size Blazer and Jimmy models. This situation lasted into the early 1990s. GMC first rebadged the full-size Jimmy as the "Yukon" in 1991. Chevrolet however waited until 1994, when they rebadged the redesigned mid-size S-10 Blazer the "new Blazer," while renaming the full-size Blazer as the "Tahoe." The name Tahoe refers to the rugged and scenic area surrounding Lake Tahoe in the western United States, and was originally used as a trim level on S-10 models. The name Yukon refers to the Yukon territory of northern Canada.
For the 1995 model year, the Tahoe and Yukon gained a new, longer four-door model, slotting in size between the two-door models and the longer-wheelbase Chevrolet/GMC Suburbans.
The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Philippines, and the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand-drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.
The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are part of General Motors' full-size SUV family and are differentiated from the similar Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL primarily by the length of the passenger and cargo area behind the C-pillar. An upscale trim GMC Denali sub-model joined the Yukon lineup as the top-of-the-line trim for the 1999 model year; the Cadillac Escalade is a closely related upscale version sharing the same platform. The Denali is available on both standard and XL versions.
The Tahoe has regularly been the best-selling full-size SUV in the United States, frequently outselling its competition by two to one.

Common 2008 Gmc Yukon problems
Based on the information gathered from various sources regarding the 2008 GMC Yukon, here is a list of common problems reported by owners of this vehicle:
- Airbag Issues: The 2008 GMC Yukon has faced complaints related to airbags, with drivers reporting issues such as long waiting times for replacement parts due to airbag recalls. Electrical complaints have also been noted, including problems with lighting, wiring, and latches, with some instances of electrical fires on the front passenger side, possibly linked to an overheated washer fluid system.
- Cracking Dashboards: A common issue with the 2008 Yukon is cracking dashboards, particularly in the area covering the airbag. This can be concerning, especially for owners waiting on recall parts.
- EVAP Vent Valve Failure: One of the top problems identified in the 3rd generation Yukon (2007-2014) is the failure of the EVAP vent valve. Symptoms include a check engine light with codes P0449 or P0455. The vent valve is located above the spare tire and connects to the vapor canister.
- Throttle Body Failure: Another significant issue is throttle body failure, leading to an engine reduced power light with code P2135. This problem is related to sensors inside the throttle body, and cleaning the throttle body will not resolve the issue; replacement of the sensor or the entire throttle body may be necessary.
- Front Wheel Bearing Failure: Owners have reported loud grinding noises from the wheel bearings, similar to airplane sounds, especially noticeable when turning. This issue can affect the driving experience and safety of the vehicle.
These problems highlight some of the key issues that owners of the 2008 GMC Yukon have faced. Addressing these concerns promptly and with proper maintenance can help ensure the longevity and performance of the vehicle.

TIRES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-10-09
- VIN: 1GKFK63878J
- Components: TIRES
- Summary: Driving north on I-94, leaving the city of Chicago, the rear driver side tire (Bridestone Dueler P285/45R22) blew and the outer side wall seem to have a defect (weak side wall). This should never happen in a passenger car and the manufacturer should have better QUALITY CONTROL and prevent these defects from leaving the plants. I have a MS in Mechanical Engineering and have knowledge of the tire designs, as we did research for Firestone in the 1980's at my university, and this is definitely a defect within a weak part of the fabric in the sidewall. If you would like the tire for your investigation, please let me know ASAP. Other industries like the Medical and Pharma areas would not allow this kind of thing to happen and passenger vehicles with defective parts or components should never jeopardize any passenger to be in this kind of situation. Luckily, it was very early in the morning, with very light traffic, and no one in my car or any of the cars around me got hurt, as I was able to maneuver to the right side of the highway.

- Summary: WE HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER 3 YEARS FOR THIS MATTER TO BE PUT IN TO AN ACTION PLAN. WE DRIVE THE NOTED 2008 YUKON DENALI DAILY TO AND FROM WORK AS WELL AS TAKE OUR PASSENGERS TO SCHOOL. WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE AND WISH TO REQUEST THAT THE AIR BAG NOTED BE SCHEDULED FOR REPLACEMENT. WE ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THE NOTED ISSUES THAT IT MAY CAUSE AND FEEL THAT WE HAVE BEEN P PUT IN HARMS WAY VIA THE KNOWLEDGE AND DECISON TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE AIR BAG. PLEASE ADVISE WHEN WE WILL BE ABLE TO RECEIVE THE NEW PRODUCT SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION. TK HOLDINGS INC. ('TAKATA') HAS DECIDED THAT A DEFECT WHICH RELATES TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY EXISTS IN THE PASSENGER-SIDE FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATORS INSTALLED AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT IN CERTAIN 2007 TO 2014 MODEL YEAR CADILLAC ESCALADE, ESCALADE ESV, AND ESCALADE EXT VEHICLES; CERTAIN CHEVROLET AVALANCHE, SILVERADO 1500, SILVERADO 2500/3500, SUBURBAN, AND TAHOE VEHICLES; AND CERTAIN GMC SIERRA 1500, SIERRA 2500/3500, YUKON, AND YUKON XL VEHICLES. THE DETERMINATION WAS MADE THAT THE PROPELLANT IN THESE INFLATORS MAY DEGRADE AFTER LONG-TERM EXPOSURE TO HIGH HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURE CYCLING, WHICH COULD CAUSE THE INFLATOR TO RUPTURE DURING A DEPLOYMENT. SAFETY RISK AN INflATOR RUPTURE MAY CAUSE METAL FRAGMENTS TO PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG AND INTO THE VEHICLE INTERIOR AT HIGH SPEED, WHICH MAY RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.
