2006 Volvo S60 problems

volvo logo

The Volvo S60 is a compact executive car manufactured and marketed by Volvo since 2000.

The first generation (2000–2009) was launched in autumn of 2000 in order to replace the S70 and was based on the P2 platform. It had a similar designed estate version called Volvo V70 and a high performance engine and sports-oriented suspension version called S60 R. Styling cues were taken from the ECC concept car and the S80.

The second generation (2010–2018) was released in 2010 for the 2011 model year and has its own estate version, known as the Volvo V60.

The third generation joined the Volvo line-up in 2018 for the 2019 model year. It is built on a shortened version of the Scalable Product Architecture platform, in America's first Volvo factory in Ridgeville, South Carolina. The US became the sole global source of the S60 sedan after production in China was phased out in early 2019.

Common 2006 Volvo S60 problems

Based on complaints from owners of the Volvo S60 2006, several common problems have been reported:

  1. Wheel Bearings, Tie Rods, and Front Wheel Alignment: Owners have experienced issues with wheel bearings, tie rods, and front wheel alignment. These components are crucial for the proper functioning and safety of the vehicle. Replacing these parts is essential to ensure the vehicle's stability and handling.
  2. Potential Angel Gear Leak: The Angel Gear, which is connected to the transmission and prop shaft going to the back wheels, is prone to leaking. This can lead to further problems if not addressed promptly. Signs of leaking at the seals should be checked, and any discoloration from fluid on the Angel Gear indicates a leak.
  3. Timing Belt Replacement: The timing belt full kit replacement is recommended around the 100k mark. This maintenance task is crucial to prevent engine damage and ensure the proper functioning of the vehicle. Neglecting the timing belt replacement can lead to severe engine issues and costly repairs.
  4. Transmission Fluid Replacement: It is advised to replace the transmission fluid around the 100k mark. This routine maintenance task helps maintain the transmission's performance and longevity. Fresh transmission fluid ensures smooth gear shifts and prevents premature wear on transmission components.

These common problems with the Volvo S60 2006 highlight the importance of regular maintenance and prompt attention to any issues that arise. Addressing these issues in a timely manner can help prevent more significant problems and keep the vehicle running smoothly.

What is the common problem with Volvo S60?

If you are having performance problems with your S60, the ETM (Electronic Throttle Module) is known to get blocked by a carbon build up. The MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor also gets a build up. Poor engine idling, bad starting and lack of power/acceleration are all symptoms of these issues.

Why not to buy Volvo S60?

In typical Volvo fashion, the ride is stiff. Handling is sound but unexceptional. The S60 is plagued with Volvo's unintuitive infotainment system, which requires too much swiping, tapping, and eyes-off-the-road time.

Is a Volvo S60 good on gas?

The most fuel-efficient Volvo is the 2022 Volvo S60 sedan, which clocks in with great efficiency at 35 highway MPG. Other popular Volvo models are not far behind, though, with the Volvo XC40 SUV coming in at 32 highway MPG. The XC60 and XC90 slide in at 30 highway MPG.

Why won't my 2006 Volvo S60 start?

The most common reasons a Volvo S60 won't start are a dead battery, an alternator problem, or failed starter.

Is Volvo S60 a reliable car?

Quality and Reliability 71.0/100

The 2024 Volvo S60 has a predicted reliability score of 71 out of 100.

Are Volvo S60 expensive to maintain?

The average total annual cost for repairs and maintenance on a Volvo S60 is $750, compared to an average of $739 for luxury midsize cars and $652 for all vehicle models.

Why did Volvo discontinue the S60?

In the US, the XC40, XC60, and XC90 accounted for 75 percent of the brand's sales in June. Volvo's lineup in the UK now looks different. The automaker has removed the S60, V60, and V90 from its lineup, citing the growing demand for its SUVs as interest dwindles in its sedans and wagons.

AIR BAGS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-12-06
  • VIN: yv1rs592062
  • Components: AIR BAGS
  • Summary: I was expected to pay over one thousand dollars to have the recall remedy performed. My home and location of car is Ketchikan, Alaska. There is no Volvo dealer in Ketchikan and no roads connecting town with the mainland road system. The car would have to be shipped by either aircraft or oceangoing vessel to the mainland for access to a Volvo dealer. This would cost a lot of money. I perform all maintenance and repairs myself so I contacted Volvo asking then to ship me the air bag for installation. Volvo responded that I must take the car to a dealer at my own expense. The practical reality is that transporting the car to a dealer for this (or any other recall) is completely unreasonable, making it virtually impossible to have the recall repair performed unless Volvo will simply supply the part so I can install it.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2018-09-03
  • VIN: YV1RH592062
  • Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: A FEW MONTHS BACK, THIS VEHICLE WAS LEAKING GASOLINE FROM THE AREA OF FUEL PUMP. THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED UNDER THE REAR SEAT OF THE VEHICLE, SO THERE WAS ALSO A STRONG ODOR INSIDE THE CAR. THE VEHICLE FUEL TANK WAS FILLED JUST PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. SO, FOR 20 MILES, MYSELF AND MY WIFE WERE SUBJECTED TO GASOLINE FUMES, AND AT THE SAME TIME, RAW GASOLINE WAS SPILLING UNDERNEATH THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. MY REPAIR SHOP DIAGNOSED, AND REPAIRED CAR BY INSTALLING A NEW FUEL PUMP. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION , I HAVE FOUND THAT VOLVO CARS DID RECALL, AND REPAIR SOME MODELS OF 2003 AND 2005... EVEN MY 2004 WAS REIMBURSED FOR THIS. I BELIEVE THAT VOLVO KNOWS THAT'S THERE IS A PART DEFECT, NOT A PART FAILURE... THIS IS A STATIONARY, HARD COMPOSITE PLASTIC THAT IS THE SAME CULPRIT AS THE EARLIER YEARS INVOLVED. I AM ASKING THE NHTSA TO FURTHER INVESTIGATE VOLVO CARS TO INSURE THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS THIS SCARE. IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC FOR MYSELF AND ALL OTHERS ON THE ROADS THAT DAY

EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2010-04-07
  • VIN: YV1RH592762
  • Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
  • Summary: THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT WORKS INTERMITTENTLY THIS HAS BEEN A SLIGHT ISSUE SINCE 2006 WHEN I HAVE HAD NEW LIGHTS INSTALLED ON A REGULAR BASIS. DESPITE ME GOING TO THE DEALER FOR OVER THE LAST 11 YEARS OR SO IT IS ONLY GETTING MORE FREQUENT IN AGE. IT IS NOT THE BULB BUT THE WIRING IN THE VEHICLE THAT IS FAULTY. THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WHEN COMBINED WITH THE FOG THAT THE LIGHTS HAVE PUT ON THE GLASS OVER THE YEARS. I HAVE PAID TO HAVE THE FOG REMOVED TWICE AND THE WIRING HARNESS CHECKED. AFTER LIVING IN 5 DIFFERENT STATES I SEE THIS IN ALMOST EVERY S60 IN THE MID 2000 ALWAYS ONE HEAD LIGHT OUT. IT WILL COME BACK ON WHEN YOU ENCOUNTER A BUMP SO IT IS A MISSED CONNECTION AT SOME POINT IN THE WIRE HARNESS. THIS CREATES SUCH LIMITED VISION IN NIGHT AND I AM CONSTANTLY GETTING HONKED AT. I HAVE PULLED OVER AND JIGGLED THE WIRES WHICH WILL ALLOW THE LIGHT TO WORK UNTIL YOU TURN A CORNER, HIT A BUMP OR IT JUST FADES. I BELIEVE THE HEADLAMPS SHOULD ALL BE REPLACED AND THE WIRING FIXED THIS IS SUCH AN ISSUE IN THE EVENINGS.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2015-07-01
  • Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
  • Summary: MY COMPLAINT IS AGAINST SYLVANIA ULTRA HEADLIGHTS, PURCHASED FROM AUTOZONE. "THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED SHORTLY AFTER 2 MONTHS, THEY ARE THE MOST EXPENSIVE HEADLIGHTS THEY SELL (THINKING THEY ARE THE BEST) I PURCHASED A PAIR. HAD THEM REPLACED AT A LOCAL MECHANIC - THEY WERE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. - THIS ACTION WAS REPEATED FOR 3 SETS OF REPLACEMENTS. THE 4TH TIME AROUND I DID NOT PURCHASE HEADLIGHTS - I TOOK IT TOO THE MECHANIC AND ASKED HIM TO CHECK THE WIRING AND REPLACE THE HEADLIGHTS YET AGAIN. THE MECHANIC CALLED AUTOZONE - THEY ASKED DO YOU WANT THE GOOD ONES OR THE BAD ONES ? THE MECHANIC SAID LOOKING AT ME - THE GOOD ONES OF COARSE. THEN THE SALES PERSON ON THE PHONE DESCRIBED HOW SUCKY THE OTHER ONES ARE TO THE MECHANIC. ABOUT 30 MINS LATER - AUTOZONE DELIVERED THE HEADLIGHTS THAT WERE SYLVANIA BUT NOT THE ULTRA.WHEN I WAS IN AUTOZONE - THEY CLAIMED THESE ULTRAS ARE THE BEST. THESE BOGUS ULTRA HEADLIGHTS ARE A SAFETY HAZARD AND IT APPEARS THEY KNOW THEY ARE BAD - I SMELL A SCAM BEING PERPETRATED AGAINST THE PUBLIC PRODUCING A SAFETY HAZARD AND UNNECESSARY EXPENSE/RIP OFF.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2015-01-28
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: THIS REPORT CONCERNS THE FAILURE OF THE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY ON MID 2000S VOLVO SEDANS AND SPECIFICALLY, A 2006 VOLVO S60, 2.5T. SPECIFICALLY, A DE-LAMINATION OF THE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY, WHICH RESULTS IN A TENDENCY FOR A METAL COMPONENT OF THE SHOE ASSEMBLY TO DISLODGE AND JAM BETWEEN THE BRAKE PAD AND ROTOR, RESULTING IN THE BRAKE SUDDENLY LOCKING UP WITH NO WARNING. WHILE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THIS REPORT OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 20MPH, AT HIGH SPEEDS, A BRAKE JAM EVENT OF THIS NATURE COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. THE ONSET OF THE DE-LAMINATION OF THE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY OCCURS WITH NO WARNING, OTHER THAN A MILD BUMPING NOISE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE AT LOW SPEEDS. UPON INQUIRY TO SEVERAL VOLVO-SPECIFIC REPAIR SHOPS, AS WELL AS MULTIPLE REPORTS ON ONLINE VOLVO-SPECIFIC FORUMS, THIS PROBLEM IS KNOWN TO BE A RELATIVELY COMMON ISSUE AFTER APPROXIMATELY 4-8 YEARS OF NORMAL WEAR AND/OR 50,000-100,000 MILES OF USE ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SHOES. HOWEVER THERE IS NO SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED BY VOLVO AS TO THIS PROBLEM. *TR

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2013-06-18
  • VIN: YV1RS592562
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: ETM FAILS CAUSING ME TO LIMP HOME OR HAS ERRATIC THROTTLE BEHAVIOR, HAD REPAIRED BASICALLY THEY JUST STATED IT HAD TO BE CLEANED BUT THE INJECTORS WHERE FINE. AFTER SPENDING OVER $600.00 DOLLARS NOW THEY ARE STATING I NEED TO SPEND ANOTHER $600.00 ON THE PART TO REPLACE BECAUSE THE MOTOR IS CAUSING IT TO FAIL. I AM USUALLY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THEN A MESSAGE WILL DISPLAY 'REDUCE ENGINE PERFORMANCE CAUSING ME TO GO FROM 65 DOWN TO 40 MILES PER HOUR AND I FEAR THAT ONE DAY IT IS GOING TO CAUSE AND ACCIDENT DUE TO A MECHANICAL FAILURE ON BEHALF OF VOLVO ETM FIASCO. VOLVO HAS KNOWN THIS IS A FAULTY DESIGN BECAUSE BACK IN 1999 TO 2002 THERE WAS A RECALL AND THEY WERE ISSUED A 10 YEAR WARRANTY OR 200,000 MILE WARRANTY AFTER REPEAT FAILURES. I AM FILING A COMPLAINT BASED ON SAFETY CONCERNS AND DEMAND A RECALL AND BASED ON THE SAME ISSUE 'FAULTY DESIGN' AND VOLVO HAS KNOWN THIS CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM. 2006 SEEM TO HAVE A VERY HIGH REPAIR AND THIS SO HAPPENS TO BE ONE OF THOSE CARS. THANKS! *TR

POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2013-07-05
  • VIN: YV1RS592562
  • Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
  • Summary: I HAVE MADE A RECENT COMPLAINT REGARDING SAFETY CONCERNS WITH A FAULTY ETM (ELECTRONIC THROTTLE MODULE) ON MY VEHICLE. I DROPPED IT OFF AT MY LOCAL AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR VOLVO AND I DID NOT TELL THEM THAT THE CAR PRODUCED AN ERROR CODE P2135 / ECM-9200 -- THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR --FAULTY SIGNAL, BECAUSE I WANTED TO SEE WHAT ERROR CODES THEY WOULD PULL OFF. IT IS MY UNDERSTAND EVEN IF I RESET THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT THE DEALER IS ABLE TO PULL THE CODES OF THE COMPUTER. WELL IN THIS CASE THE DEALER CALLED ME TODAY AND ADVISED ME THAT NO CODES COULD BE PULLED BUT WANTED TO KNOW IF THE PERSON WORKING ON MY CAR COULD TAKE IT HOME WITH HIM AND TAKE A READER. I SAID NO, BUT I DID NOT TAKE MY CAR THERE BECAUSE I WANT SOMETHING FOR FREE. I AM BEYOND FRUSTRATED WITH THE VOLVO BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY DESIGN. WHAT WILL IT TAKE NEXT TIME FOR ME TO BE ON THE FREEWAY AND DRIVING AND THE ERROR TO BE DISPLAYED AND CAUSE ME TO DROP MY SPEED DOWN AND GET INTO AN ACCIDENT? I FEAR THAT DAY WILL COME SOMEDAY IF NOT ME SOMEONE ELSE. *TR

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2013-05-05
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: IN MY 2006 VOLVO S60 THE ETM WENT OUT AFTER ONLY 48000 MILES. THE ENGINE HAS A ROUGH IDLE AND WON'T GO OVER 40 MPH. IT'S IN LIMP MODE. A REPLACEMENT FOR THE ETM IS UPWARDS OF $1,000 AND THE DEALER NEEDS TO BE THE ONE TO SERVICE TO MATE THE ETM TO THE CAR. LOOKING ON THE FORUMS AND AROUND IT AMAZES ME HOW COMMON THIS PROBLEM IS. THE RECALL THAT WAS FOR 1999-2002 MODELS SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO ALL MODEL YEARS THAT ARE AFFECTED BY THIS FAULTY PART TO ENSURE THAT ALL VOLVO OWNERS ARE SAFE FROM THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. *TR

THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT OFF AND I WAS NOT EVEN ABLE TO PUT THE FLASHERS ON SO THAT OTHER DRIVERS COULD KNOW THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (WITH DIFFICULTY SINCE THE POWER STEERING NO LONGER WORKED) AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT. *TR

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2011-10-25
  • VIN: YV1RS592362
  • Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
  • Summary: THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED IN MY 2006 VOLVO S60. THE CAR ONLY HAS 72,702 MILES! THIS IS AFTER HAVING PAID SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO HAVE THE ETM CLEANED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. THE COST TO REPLACE THE ETM WAS OVER $800. AS I SEARCH THE INTERNET, THESE CARS SEEM TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS PARTICULAR PART. IT'S RIDICULOUS TO THINK THAT I'M GOING TO HAVE TO KEEP PAYING FOR THIS PART, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND HAS FAR LESS THAN 100,000 MILES!!! I DEMAND A RECALL AND WARRANTY REPLACEMENT! THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MY LOCAL VOLVO DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THESE UNITS NEED TO BE CLEANED OR SERVICED ABOUT EVERY 30K MILES. I HAVE A COPY OF MY RECEIPT FROM THIS WEEKS SERVICE. THIS PART SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY BY THE MANUFACTURER! BELIEVE ME, I'M ACTIVE ON THE WEB AND I'M GOING TO TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO STAY AWAY FROM VOLVOS. *TT

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2010-12-31
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: MY 2006 VOLVO S60 WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD (AFTER SITTING OUTSIDE OVERNIGHT AT TEMPERATURES BELOW 45F). DEPENDING ON HOW COLD IT IS, IT TAKES FROM 5 TO 20 MINUTES FOR THE VEHICLE TO WARM ENOUGH THAT I CAN SHIFT IT INTO DRIVE. THE DEALER IS UNHELPFUL: I LEFT IT OVERNIGHT FOR THEM TO CHECK. EVEN THOUGH IT WOULD NOT SHIFT FOR THEM, A SERVICE REP STARTED IT, NOT THE TECHNICIAN SO THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNLESS I TAKE IT BACK TO THEM AGAIN. *TR

  • Summary: MY 2006 VOLVO S60 GETS STUCK IN PARK. I PROPERLY START THE VEHICLE, APPLY THE BRAKE AND ATTEMPT TO MOVE THE SHIFTER OUT OF PARK AND IT WON'T BUDGE. MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS TOLD I MUST HAVE "WASTED SOMETHING STICKY IN THE GEAR SHAFT". THEY NEVER TOOK ANYTHING APART OR INSPECTED THE VEHICLE BEFORE MAKING THIS DETERMINATION. THE VEHICLE WILL EVENTUALLY COME OUT OF PARK AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES OF TRYING TO SHIFT THE GEAR. ONCE DRIVING, THE SHIFTER CAN EASILY BE MOVED TO PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, ETC. WHILE BEING DRIVEN!!! *TR

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2007-06-05
  • VIN: YV1RH527662
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
  • Summary: I FIRST EXPERIENCED THIS BRAKE FAILURE 2 YEARS AGO DURING AN EXIT FROM A HIGHWAY ON AN UPHILL OFF-RAMP. WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO BRAKING POWER. ONLY AFTER I LIFTED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE AND REAPPLIED PRESSURE DID I HAVE ANY BRAKING POWER. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED A FEW TIMES AND IS VERY INFREQUENT AND RANDOM IN ITS APPEARANCES, BUT IS A RECIPE FOR DISASTER AND IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED FROM IT. THERE ARE MULTIPLE OWNERS REPORTING THE SAME FAILURE. VOLVO HAS NOT PROVIDED A SOLUTION TO CORRECT THIS FAILURE. *TR

Negative 2006 Volvo S60 car reviews

  1. Presley Schoen 2024-09-02

While this car has some good aspects, it may not be the best choice for main drivers, first time drivers, or college students due to its high cost and uncertain maintenance. However, if you are a Volvo fan and looking for a second car for fun, this car may be a good fit for you. The AWD is excellent and the safety features such as side airbags, anti-whiplash seats, head restraints, and emergency brake assist are impressive. The turbo adds some discernible torque and the front seats are super comfortable. The smart design of the center console lid opening into small tables/extra cupholders is a nice touch. Although the gas mileage is not great, the car makes up for it in other areas. The interior materials feel nice and the interior controls have some smart designs. The downsides are that the car lacks some modern technology such as an aux jack, only one 12v power socket in the front and none in the center console, and the automatic climate control system feels dated. Additionally, the turning radius is pretty bad and the steering wheel needs much more input to avoid potholes. The car is also missing some safety tech for the year, especially considering it is a Volvo. For example, electronic stability control and tire pressure monitoring are not standard, and neither is an autodimming mirror. The design of the car means the back window and side mirrors aren't as big as they could be, and the anti-whiplash head restraints block a lot of the rear window. The back seats don't have a lot of legroom at all.The driver's seat can be adjusted far enough backwards so that a child's leg cannot fit in the space behind it. It appears that the backseat was not given much thought during the design process, and as a result, the car may not be spacious enough for a family to travel in comfortably. While there are some reliability issues to be aware of, such as suspension issues with fragile struts and occasional creaking, the Volvo S60 is still a great car to consider. It is important to note that the motor mounts may need to be replaced, as the 5-cylinder engine is designed to vibrate more and requires a complex motor mount system to absorb vibrations from the cabin. Additionally, there is a design flaw with the PVC system that can cause engine problems, but this is not a common issue. While other cars may be more reliable, the Volvo S60 has its own unique charm and character. It is important to find a good Volvo mechanic, as not all mechanics are as familiar with these cars. Although it may be more expensive to fix and insure than a BMW of the same age, the Volvo S60 is still a great choice for those who appreciate its unique design and features.I really like the AWD and some of the safety tech. However, the handling, spaciousness, MPG, tech, reliability, cost of repairs, insurance, and 'certainty' are not great. Cheaper domestic cars are often good, old designs, and if something fails, the neighborhood mechanic won't charge an arm and a leg for repairs, and insurance won't be exorbitant. If you are a Volvo fan and this is your second or third car, perhaps it will be OK, and the problems I mentioned won't matter to you. However, if you depend on your single car and don't have much money, I'm not sure if I would recommend these, even if the value is dirt cheap for a seemingly fancy European car.

Positive 2006 Volvo S60 car reviews

The S60R strikes a perfect balance between a sports car and a family sedan, making it an enjoyable ride for all. Despite not having the immediate name recognition of other 300 hp sedans, this wolf in sheep's clothing boasts a reliable and responsive turbo engine that will literally press you back into its extremely comfortable seats. The responsive AWD power and steering, along with the computer-controlled suspension, make driving a breeze.

Great value for the price! I really wanted to purchase more of the extras, but I couldn't wait to get my hands on the S60R! After the test drive, I was so excited that I had trouble sleeping while waiting to purchase. I would have bought two if I could, but we decided to go with a Dodge Charger SRT-8 as our 'bigger' car. The sixth gear is a real asset and the fuel economy is impressive. We traded in our 2004 S60 and the R version is definitely heads and shoulders above the competition and other S60 models. The gauges are absolutely gorgeous!! The overall interior room could be a bit bigger (this is my one and only negative point). However, the size is just right for a small family. When you step into the car, you feel completely safe and secure.

After a long research period and a slew of test drives, I finally selected the S60 R. My selection criteria were 300 hp, AWD, and convertible. I looked at several other cars, including the GS300 AWD, G35 AWD, Z Roadster, M3, 330 xi, C55 AMG, SLK 350, WRX STi, and S4. While none of the cars matched all three criteria, the S60 R did the best at the most affordable price. I also appreciate the fact that you don't see them everywhere like you would with a BMW. Aside from a few small
