2007 Volvo S60 problems
The Volvo S60 is a compact executive car manufactured and marketed by Volvo since 2000.
The first generation (2000–2009) was launched in autumn of 2000 in order to replace the S70 and was based on the P2 platform. It had a similar designed estate version called Volvo V70 and a high performance engine and sports-oriented suspension version called S60 R. Styling cues were taken from the ECC concept car and the S80.
The second generation (2010–2018) was released in 2010 for the 2011 model year and has its own estate version, known as the Volvo V60.
The third generation joined the Volvo line-up in 2018 for the 2019 model year. It is built on a shortened version of the Scalable Product Architecture platform, in America's first Volvo factory in Ridgeville, South Carolina. The US became the sole global source of the S60 sedan after production in China was phased out in early 2019.

Why not to buy Volvo S60?

The most fuel-efficient Volvo is the 2022 Volvo S60 sedan, which clocks in with great efficiency at 35 highway MPG. Other popular Volvo models are not far behind, though, with the Volvo XC40 SUV coming in at 32 highway MPG. The XC60 and XC90 slide in at 30 highway MPG.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-12-16
- VIN: YV1RS592072
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
- Summary: WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, IN UNFAMILIAR AREA AND DARK, THE CAR EXPERIENCED COMPLETE SHUTDOWN OF ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL POWER. THE SHUTDOWN WAS INSTANTANEOUS WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING THAT A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WAS LOOMING. THE DRIVER WAS WITHOUT ALL LIGHTING, POWER ASSIST BRAKES OR STEERING. THIS ISSUE WAS GREATLY COMPLICATED BY NOT BEING SUFFICIENTLY VISIBLE TO OTHER DRIVERS, PROMPTING SEVERAL LAST MOMENT EVASIVE MANEUVERS WHILE EXITING THE ACTIVE LANES. INITIALLY, THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND TO ATTEMPTS TO START OR TO GET LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 3 MINUTES, THE CAR STARTED AND OPERATED NORMALLY. EVERYTHING HAD APPEARED TO RESET, AS IF CAR HAD BATTERY DISCONNECTED AFTER SERVICE. THIS APPEARS TO ME AS A REPEAT OF THE COMPLAINT FILED ON THE 2007 VOLVO S60 DATED 7-2-2014, WHERE THE OWNER REPORTED ?COMPLETE AND TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE? FOUR TIMES IN ABOUT A YEAR. VOLVO WAS NOTIFIED THE NEXT MORNING OF THIS NEW EXAMPLE OF THEIR HORRIFYING SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL VOLVO SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE THE ISSUE COULD BE DIAGNOSED. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND I GAVE THE SERVICE ADVISER REFERENCE NUMBERS FOR BOTH THE CONVERSATION I HAD WITH VOLVO AND THE NHTSA FOR THE COMPLAINTS I FILED. ADDITIONALLY, THEY WERE GIVEN THE INFORMATION ON THE PRIOR COMPLAINT DESCRIBING THE SAME ISSUE. AFTER 1 DAY IN SERVICE DEPARTMENT, PROBLEM CANNOT BE DIAGNOSED. OTHER THAN AN ISSUE WITH CODE/CODES, RELATING TO FUEL PRESSURE, THERE IS NO IMMEDIATE INDICATION OF WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THIS INSTANTANEOUS COMPLETE ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL FAILURE. CURRENTLY, THE TECHNICIAN IS EMAIL CORRESPONDING WITH ?PEOPLE IN NJ? TO TELL HIM ?WHAT THEY WANT HIM TO DO? OUR CAR HAS 99K MILES AT TIME OF FAILURE. *TR

I THOUGHT THERE WAS ENOUGH OF A BREAK IN TRAFFIC TO SAFELY PULL OUT, BUT WHEN APPLYING THE THROTTLE WITH THE FRONT WHEELS TURNED, THE WHEELS SPUN FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE I LIFTED OFF THE THROTTLE. BECAUSE MY CAR HAD PARTIALLY ENTERED THE LANE WITH NO ROOM TO BACK UP DUE TO A VEHICLE BEHIND, THE ONCOMING VEHICLE HAD TO SWERVE AROUND MY CAR. THE FOLLOWING DAY, I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND MENTIONED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL DID NOT APPEAR TO BE WORKING. THIS WAS MY SECOND COMPLAINT ABOUT THE TRACTION CONTROL (ABOUT 8,000 MILES PRIOR, MY CAR COULD NOT GAIN TRACTION WHILE CLIMBING A WET PARKING GARAGE RAMP). THE TECHNICIAN FOUND A FAULTY BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR AND REPLACED IT. MY SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT THE FAULTY SENSOR CAUSED THE TRACTION CONTROL AND STABILITY CONTROL TO BE OFF-LINE SINCE. I AM WONDERING WHY MY CAR DID NOT ISSUE ANY TYPE OF WARNING THAT THESE TWO SAFETY FEATURES WERE OFF-LINE. ACCORDING TO THE SITUATION DESCRIBED TO ME, THE COMPUTER KNEW THERE WAS SOME TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH THE SENSOR, SO IT DISABLED THE TRACTION CONTROL AND STABILITY CONTROL IN RESPONSE. *TR

The sports package truly makes a difference. I test drove a premium without the sport upgrade and was disappointed. However, when mine arrived on the back of a carrier with only 2.7 miles and a surprise sports package, I was absolutely delighted!

Great car!
-
I've had my R for about 6 months and I couldn't be happier. I was a little nervous after reading some of the edmunds reviews, but I can honestly say that I have been thrilled thus far. I got mine with the sport package. Like many, I was looking at the IS350 and the GS. This car is a hoot to drive, not as throaty and braggadocious as the Infiniti, and feels bigger inside (at least the front seat) than the Lexus.
-
This car is truly amazing! It beat out the Lexus IS 250, Acura TL and BMW 3 series, making it the best car for anyone looking for a flexible ride that's both fun and luxurious. With the added spoiler, Premium Package and Sport Package, it looks sleek and is luxuriously appointed. The interior and exterior fit and finish have received many positive comments. The Geartronic transmission is a nice feature, and the pickup is excellent under 40 mph, with immediate response to any pedal pressure. As a very satisfied buyer, I highly recommend this car!
-
The car was delivered with two defective rear shocks. Despite the dealer's inability to replace them due to national backorder, replacement units were eventually received and installed. However, upon bringing the car back to the dealer, it was discovered that the replacements were also defective.

This vehicle has experienced multiple service-related issues, including transmission, shock, wheel bearing, and engine problems. Despite these challenges, I believe that the vehicle is still a valuable investment. While Volvo's customer service has been unresponsive, I remain confident in the quality of their products. It is important to note that Volvo is owned by Ford, which may impact their operations.
Jaron Boehm 2024-08-17
The gas filler cap has been leaking since the first full tank of gas, but I am confident that the service team will be able to resolve the issue. Additionally, the seat belt locks can make it difficult to lean forward and check for oncoming traffic. Despite these challenges, I believe that this car has potential and I am confident that with the right adjustments, it can provide great value. While I do miss my Infiniti, I am excited to see what this car can do in the future.
Michael Feeney 2024-04-03
The MPG is slightly lower than the 04 V70 2.5t wagon, but it did improve a bit with new tires. I've had it for about 2 years and find the front seats to be very comfortable. However, it doesn't drive quite as smoothly as the older wagon.

Hi there, I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my Volvo car. Unfortunately, after only 2,000 miles, my transmission stopped working. I haven't received any explanation or repair yet, which is disappointing. I'm also a bit frustrated because I feel like the handling on my old VW Passat was better. Thank you for your time.
Alfred Flatley 2024-02-14
I purchased the car used with 53,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, I experienced some issues with the radiator after only 3 weeks of ownership. Additionally, the power locks and power seats have been malfunctioning. The car also failed inspection due to an issue with the axel rod. At 58,000 miles, the check engine light came on and the coolant level dropped to zero, which required me to shut off the car to prevent engine damage. As a result of these issues, I am currently exploring the option of trading the car for a Japanese model.
