- Summary: This incident occurred [XXX] at about [XXX]. My family and I were returning to Utah from an Arizona vacation. We were heading north on [XXX], in between Payson and Benjamin when the sunroof shattered. The sunroof was not open nor had it been open during the entirety of the vacation. My fiancé and I were both watching the road and did not see any debris nor rocks fly up and hit the sunroof. Our only explanation is that it exploded. The vehicle is available for inspection on request. I am thankful that no one was hurt inside the vehicle, but this could have potentially hurt my child who was in the backseat during this. If the fabric that blocks the sunroof had been pulled back, I am 100% positive that all passengers in the car would have been injured by the glass shards. I am going to call the dealership tomorrow when they are open and plan to call the non emergency phone number for the police to file an incident report, if they allow it. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM

- Summary: The powertrain control units (engine and/or transmission) exhibit concerning behaviors when accelerating from a stop. The actual vehicle acceleration and propulsive torque does not match driver demanded torque for an extended period of time. The amount of delayed reaction is longer when the vehicle is ‘cold’ meaning that the vehicle has not been running prior to driving for an extended period of time. There is some amount of initial acceleration that allows the vehicle to move into the road but then the propulsive torque seems to go away completely for 3-4 seconds. The torque delivered after this delay is then exponential which is again not matching what the driver is asking for. The unintended torque can put the driver at risk of being in a lane without the ability to accelerate out of danger in time. For the situation of having too high of torque can put the driver in danger of hitting an object because the driver was not planning to accelerate so aggressively. These two behaviors can compound on each other as well. When the driver experiences the too low of drive torque condition, the driver could apply more throttle to correct but this will only make the too high of drive torque condition worse. These behaviors occur after every drive-off from standstill. There is a TSB to help improve this behavior. There are no active faults or warning lamps. Many other owners and dealerships confirmed this same behavior. The occurrence date was set to the date of this complaint but these behaviors have been occurring since date of purchase of vehicle.

During the course of normal vehicle operation, multiple Travel Assist system failures and alerts as documented within Volkswagen Technical Service Bulletin 2070207/1 occur. Three repair attempts have previously been performed by Volkswagen Jackson (Ritchey Automotive) in Jackson, Mississippi as documented by invoices dated 20 FEB 2024, 27 FEB 2024, and 12 MAR 2024. These efforts appear to conform with the previously cited Technical Service Bulletin 2070207/1 and confirm the defect(s) and/or nonconformity as per the Bulletin's summary of "48‐23‐ 01-Travel Assist Currently Not Available." The frequency and persistence of visual and auditory safety alerts pose significant hazards to the safety of the driver and vehicle occupants as an unnecessary distraction and nuisance in addition to the direct hazards of antecedent electrical malfunction and driver assistance system defects/nonconformity/failure. This matter has been discussed with dealership staff, yielding no productive resolution, and further assistance is being pursued through Volkswagen Customer CARE. - Summary: The PVC valve failed on my two-year-old Volkswagen Tiguan at 60,000 miles. As a result, the upper timing gasket was blown, the oil pan went bad, along with several other issues relating to gaskets, seals and sensors, causing an oil leak. This problem was confirmed by my local Volkswagen dealership, and is costing me over $2,000 out-of-pocket. The check engine light was extremely inconsistent - coming on and then going off for days at a time. This is a safety concern. Unfortunately, through research, I have found that many other Tiguan owners are experiencing the same problems, but it does not seem Volkswagen is willing to issue a recall.

- Summary: The extreme acceleration delayed in responding. It has happened on a few occasions causing me to have to quickly brake the vehicle once it finally responds to avoid hitting any traffic in front of me, but one of the occasions was When I tried to make a left turn in an intersection, I pressed on the accelerator and the car moved forward very slightly then stopped and would not move forward, I attempted to get the car to move as cars were then headed straight towards me and I pressed all the way down on the accelerator, after a few seconds it finally responded and jumped forward just in time for the cars coming towards me not to hit my car. After this I immediately took it into the dealership, they confirmed this was a known issue with the Volkswagen Tiguans as well as some Atlas’ however this was an issue with the computer in the car and they had attempted to fix the issue with an update to the computer but had no success therefore they had no way to resolve the issue and we would just have to take the car back as is. This issue put my life, my kid and my unborn child at risk as it would not move, after the dealership confirmed they knew this was an issue with this particular type of vehicle and saying they had absolutely no fix for it so therefore they would do nothing for us is completely unacceptable and when we bought the car no one informed us of this issues so I am very concerned there are many more individuals facing the same safety risk driving this vehicle and I feel it too unsafe to drive until they have a resolution.

- Summary: Since I purchased this vehicle new, there have been several persistent, and dangerous problems. I have repeatedly reported these to my local dealership, Larry Miller VW, in Lakewood, Colorado, and they have effectively ignored me. The first problem is with the steering column/lane assist functions. The failure light/beep for lane assist is frequently alarming, and the control of the steering changes depending on whether lane assist is "on" or "off" or malfunctioning. Sometimes the steering jolts severely in one direction. This is manifestly dangerous. The second problem is that the radio malfunctions in all manner of distracting and dangerous ways. The radio sometimes shuts off without warning and cannot be turned back on. Sometimes the sound remains "on" but the screen goes "black" so that you cannot read a map or make a selection from the control menu. Sometimes the radio alarms that the driver is about to hit an object in front or in back of the vehicle, when there is no object anywhere around. This is very dangerous because the alarm is loud and the brakes are applied if the car believes an object is near. I have videos of these problems occurring. There is no specific date as these problems have been happening since I purchased the car new, until today, 7/10/24.

Theres is no acceleration during those 3-4 seconds and suddenly, the engine will jolt you forward. This presents a safety issue when pulling out on to a street and this vehicle will not move forward. There have been 2 instances where I have almost gotten hit/involved with road rage due to this issue.

- Summary: Crankshaft vent valve clogged and failed, causing overpressurization and oil leaks. Caused the oil pan to crack and upper timing cover to leak per the inspection at Volkswagen. I was driving, going 63mph when it said max engine speed 3000RPM and a light that said EPC started flashing along with the engine light. I turned off cruise control and began to go towards the shoulder and it shuddered and a large white plumb of smoke came out of it. It wouldn't speed up at all while I was getting over. I had it towed to my home. My husband noticed oil all over the bottom and back of my car. My dipstick had no oil on it at all. We towed it Tuesday morning to Volkswagen.

- Summary: This random, but highly dangerous issue has never been able to be replicated by dealers or myself, but it’s extremely dangerous when it occurs. Occasionally, the car’s speakers will emit a max voltage popping sound that repeats like the sound of a helicopter’s rotors. This sound occurs seemingly at random, and it can happen while the car is moving or not. It’s occurred 6 times since I purchased the car in December 2022. The debilitating sound only stops once the car has been off and all of its systems powered down for about 5 minutes, making it impossible to operate. After some review of forums about this make and model, this is seemingly something that has been reported and never addressed in a recall or anything. Without being able to replicate it, it’s seemingly unable to be addressed by dealers, and I don’t think their knowledge of the car’s audio electronics preclude any sort of troubleshooting. It seems to occur when CarPlay is connected, but it’s created one of the scariest driving experiences and gives me constant fear that it will happen at random and with my young child in the car (which it has before). This needs to be investigated. I have video of three different instances, but the upload feature will not allow for those file types. Would like to follow up, if possible. Thank you.

- Summary: The navigation system places my car blocks and miles away from the actual location while driving it. This has caused the navigation to direct me in random directions, which is very dangerous and distracting, especially on the highway. It’s also an issue in relation to the emergency response system, since it places me in inaccurate locations in the event of an accident. I contacted the dealership about it last year and took my car in twice between October and November then three more times in January and February. They replaced the infotainment system, several modules, and the antenna without success. VW corporate and one of their case manager was involved starting in January. I received a call from that case manager last week, and he said after all of the troubleshooting they can not repair the navigation issue. He said their technician estimated a repair might be available in 9-12 months. The case manager told me to call the dealership periodically to see if they have an update, and that I would not be contacted directly. My warranty expires in less than 12 months so I worry this issue will not get repaired in time. I’m also concerned about my safety if I’m in an accident since the GPS would place me in a much different location. I’ve attached a couple of photos but also have videos of the issue that I can share.

- Summary: Travel assist warning alarm rings all the time. It has been inspected and the VW dealership said that I need a new steering wheel. Vehicle is available to be inspected at any time. The alarm is completely distracting while driving and that alone is a hazard. Also, with the alarm ringing so sporadically, there's no way to tell if there is a true hazard or not. Inspected by dealership in December 2023, determined that the steering wheel needs to be replaced due to faulty travel assist alarm. I was told the steering wheel is on back order. I found out this week that there is no projected replacement date available! It has not been inspected by anyone other than dealership. The travel assist alarm has been ringing like crazy since November 2023. This car should be recalled. I am paying insurance and a car note for a car that is not safe. My daughter refuses to drive my car even though she's insured on it, because the alarm scares her when she's driving. Please do something.

This hesitation is dangerous in regard that when you try to accelerate from a stop sign into traffic, the car can sluggishly bog down exposing you to oncoming traffic. The issue is more severe after cold start, but can happen anytime. Has caused me to pull out in front of traffic many times only to bog down and nearly be in an accident.

- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2021 Golf GTI, Jetta GLI, Jetta NF, Arteon FL, Tiguan LWB, 2022 Taos, Jetta PA, Tiguan PA, 2021-2022 Atlas Cross Sport, and Atlas FL vehicles. The manufacturing process of the eMMC memory module in the infotainment system may cause the rearview camera image not to display. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
- Consequence: A rearview camera that does not display an image reduces the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will update the infotainment software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 16, 2022. Owners may contact Volkswagen's customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 91DV.

- Consequence: An insufficiently attached spoiler may separate from the vehicle, becoming a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the spoiler, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 3, 2022. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 66N5.

- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2022 Tiguan, Taos, and 2021 Tiguan long wheel base (LWB) vehicles. A second notice will be sent once remedy parts become available. The left or right rear suspension knuckles may corrode, crack, and break.
- Consequence: A broken rear suspension knuckle can cause a loss of stability, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace one or both rear suspension knuckles, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 13, 2022. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 42L8.

- Consequence: A loose brake pipe nut may allow brake fluid to leak, extending the distance required to stop and increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will inspect and tighten the brake pipe nut, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 23, 2021. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 19Q4.

I was a bit nervous when I bought it because I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. However, it's been a month since I made the purchase and I absolutely love driving it. The ride is so smooth! I went with the SE model based on a recommendation and I don't regret it one bit. I intentionally didn't go for the top of the line model because I didn't see the need to spend an extra thousand dollars. The SE has almost everything you need and is still very fancy.

This is a very nice small SUV with a third row that is suitable for young kids to teenagers and shorter adults for short around town trips. Although I would not recommend it for long trips, the SE is very well equipped. While it is missing some features that I think should be in any vehicle with power seats such as memory seat/mirror, the adaptive cruise control can be adjusted to your liking along with blind side monitoring. The lane assist is nice and works well. The ride is smooth and the steering seems a bit light, but it is very comfortable and quiet to drive. The suspension handles the bumps in city driving. Overall, I would definitely purchase it again.

Surprisingly, the VW Tiguan SEL R-Line 4motion has all the bells and whistles (although no 3rd row). I have no complaints about what I have, and it looks great too!

This car has had several issues, including non-responsive acceleration, sudden lunges forward, malfunctioning parking sensors, and problems with the radio and screen. These issues are unacceptable for a brand new car and must be addressed immediately.

The 2022 VW Tiguan SEL R Line didn't meet my expectations. The engine and transmission pairing could be smoother, and the ride and handling could be improved. While the interior materials and ambient lighting feature could be better for a top-of-the-line trim like the SEL-R Line, there are still some positives to this vehicle. However, I am looking forward to exploring other options in the market.

Pros: The vehicle has a nice riding and handling. It also looks good on the outside. However, the infotainment system needs improvement and VW is aware of it. The interior is made of cheap plastic and the engine sounds raspy and is slow. Additionally, my adaptive headlights don't work and VW service hasn't been great. If you're looking for alternatives, I suggest considering Kia, Hyundai or Mazda.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to let you know that I've been experiencing some issues with my car. Specifically, when I press on the gas pedal, it seems to stutter a bit, and the AC isn't as cool as I'd like it to be. I've taken it to the dealer, Larry Miller, a few times, but unfortunately, they haven't been able to fix the issue yet. They keep asking me to leave it with them for a week, but I'm not sure that's the best solution. Do you have any suggestions for what I should do next?

I really enjoy the look and ride of my Tiguan SE 4Motion. It has a sleek and clean appearance, and the interior is both comfortable and enjoyable to ride in. However, I have experienced some issues with the turbo engine, which can cause the vehicle to buck or sputter upon acceleration. This can be frustrating and even dangerous, especially in stop-and-go traffic or at a four-way stop. As a result, I have decided to trade it in for a Forester after two years.
