2010 Toyota Venza problems
The Toyota Venza is a five-passenger mid-size crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Toyota primarily for the North American market, beginning with its introduction in 2008 and now in its second generation — with a hiatus for model years 2018–2019.
The first-generation Venza was based on the XV40 series Camry platform and marketed between 2008 and 2017 — and shared the platform with the AL10 series Lexus RX. The second-generation model is a rebadged Japanese-market XU80 series Harrier and has been sold since September 2020.
The name "Venza" is a mix of "Venture" and "Monza."

Common 2010 Toyota Venza problems
The Toyota Venza 2010 has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. Here are the details of these problems:
- Interior Accessories: The sunroof, moonroof, and broken interior components are the biggest faults with the inside of the Toyota Venza. Some owners have reported rattling during steering, which can be a major issue while driving.
- Steering Troubles: Some customers have reported rattling during steering, while others have said the car drifted and whined as they turned. This can be a significant safety issue and should be addressed immediately.
- Brake Faults: In earlier models, the brakes wore out far before the average lifespan. Others reported needing to pump their brakes to stop. This can be a severe safety issue and should be addressed immediately.
- Windshield Cracking and Visibility Problems: Many Venza owners have reported issues with windshield cracking, which can be caused by impact damage, extreme temperature changes, or low-quality glass. This can be a significant safety issue and should be addressed immediately.
- Transmission Issues: Transmission problems are common, especially in the first-gen Venza made between 2008 and 2015. Reported issues include delayed shifting, grinding during acceleration, unstable ride quality, weird noises, a burning smell coming from the engine bay, and outright failure. These problems might be due to defective sensors, dirty air filters and worn-out spark plugs. Inadequate engine maintenance is a major cause of these problems.
- Engine Troubles: Engine problems include excessive oil consumption, engine stalling and misfires, and loss of motive. These issues might be due to defective sensors, dirty air filters and worn-out spark plugs. Inadequate engine maintenance is a major cause of these problems.
It is important to note that these problems are based on complaints from owners and may not be representative of all 2010 Toyota Venza owners' experiences. Regular maintenance and servicing can help avoid many of these issues.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SEATS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-10
- Fire: 1
- VIN: 4T3BK3BB4AU
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SEATS
- Summary: On or around March 10, 2023, as my wife and daughter were driving the driver's side heated seat started burning/smoking. Immediately, my wife turned off the seat and returned home. I found there was an existing recall for this issue but only for the Southeast Toyota Distributors, I purchased my car in Missouri. I took the vehicle to the local dealership in Clarksville, Tennessee. Not only would they not honor the recall, but charged me $115.88 to confirm the burning of the seat. I contacted Toyota 7 times thus far and they are refusing to help because the recall only affected the Southeast Distributor group. I find this ludicrous as all the vehicles were made at the Georgetown, Kentucky plant. I simply want the remedy that Southeast Toyota Distributors gave their customers: Removal of bad heating unit, return of $115.88 charge of confirmation, and a return of the accessory charge I paid in December 2009. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SEATS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-11-01
- VIN: 4T3ZK3BB2AU
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SEATS
- Summary: The heated seat on the driver side is creating a burning smell. I have read about numerous other issues with this model that have had recalls but not mine. This seat is still in tact and available for full inspection upon request. This is a major safety issue that is known about but not addressed. Major fire risk putting anyone inside vehicle in danger. I have a 2 year old daughter and if I didn’t have a lot of electrical and vehicle knowledge I could have easily left the heated seat on not knowing and caused a major risk for my entire family. Toyota needs to add the rest of the vehicles that have these issues into the recall. I have not taken into dealer yet just informed my wife not to use heated seat. I plan to take in soon to dealer but with a known issue it should be covered by a recall and not out of pocket. No police, insurance or manufacture have inspected yet. No warning lights on at all.

- Consequence: If damaged, the copper strand heating element may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the seat heaters, free of charge, and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory. The recall began on July 14, 2016. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET number for this recall is SET16B.
- Manufacturer: Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC

- Summary: Southeast Toyota is recalling certain model year 2008 and 2010-2013 Toyota Tundra, 2010-2012 Rav4, 2012 Toyota Sequoia, 2010-2011 Toyota Corolla, 2010-2011 Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2010-2013 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, 2010-2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser, 2011 Toyota Land Cruiser, 2010-2013 Toyota Venza, 2010-2011 Toyota 4Runner, 2010-2013 Toyota Tacoma, 2011-2012 Toyota Sienna, 2012 Toyota Prius, 2013 Scion FR-S, 2011 Scion XD, 2011 Scion XB, and 2012 Scion TC vehicles. These vehicles were sold with labels that were outside the allowable one percent of accuracy of actual weight added. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) Number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
- Consequence: An inaccurate label could lead to owners overloading their vehicles and tires. An overloaded vehicle can result in a tire failure which may result in a vehicle crash, personal injury, or property damage.
- Remedy: Southeast Toyota will notify owners and provide a corrected label with instructions concerning its installation. A small group of the affected vehicles will need additonal remedies which are still being developed. The recall began on May 28, 2013. Owners may contact Southeast Toyota at 1-800-301-6859.
- Manufacturer: Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE-INACTIVE
- Summary: Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain models interspersed through model years 2009 through 2013 as follows: model year 2009-2012 Tacoma, 4Runner, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Prius, and RAV4; model year 2009-2010 Avalon, FJ Cruiser, and Highlander Hybrid; model year 2010-2013 model year Corolla, Sienna and Tundra; model year 2009-2013 Highlander and Venza; model year 2012 Prius V; and model year 2010-2012 Sequoia. During modification by SET to include accessories such as leather seat covers, seat heaters or headrest DVD systems, these vehicles may not have had the passenger seat occupant sensing system calibration tested. Without passing the calibration test, the occupant sensing system may not operate as designed.
- Consequence: If the front passenger seat occupant sensing system is out of calibration, the front passenger airbags may not deploy or they may deploy inappropriately for the passenger's size and position. This could increase the risk of personal injury during the event of a vehicle crash necessitating airbag deployment.
- Remedy: Southeast Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will test the sensitivity of the occupant detection sensors, and recalibrate them as necessary. The recall began on March 21, 2013. Owners may contact Southeast Toyota at 1-800-301-6859.

Congratulations on owning your 2010 Toyota Venza for over a year now! It sounds like you're really enjoying it, especially compared to your previous vehicle, a 2000 Toyota 4Runner. Despite the light steering and bumpy ride, you've adapted well and appreciate the agility and safety of the Venza. The color is fantastic and the comfortable seats, good front visibility, and backup camera make driving even more enjoyable. And let's not forget the fabulous Bluetooth streaming audio! Overall, it sounds like you made a great choice with the Venza.

I recently traded in my 2004 Murano for a Venza. Unfortunately, my Murano's driver seat broke just two days after my Nissan extended warranty expired. Despite this being a known issue with Muranos, Nissan refused to fix it and only offered to do so for a steep price of $750. However, I am happy to report that my Venza is a significant improvement. It is more responsive, wider, and more spacious than my old Murano. Additionally, it feels a lot less top-heavy in turns, and the glass roof is a really cool feature!

Positive points: You'll love the spacious interior, the convenience of Bluetooth, and the smooth and quiet ride. Negative points: While driving conservatively, you may average around 21 mpg, and the 4-cylinder engine may struggle a bit on long uphill stretches. Additionally, the exterior skin may be thinner and less ding-resistant compared to older Toyota models.

It's great to hear that you had such a positive experience with your car! Over the course of 4 years and 1 month, you managed to put 89,000 miles on it, averaging 22K miles per year. Despite all that driving, you never had any issues with the car, which is fantastic. The only things you needed to replace were the tires and battery. On the original Bridgestone tires, you managed to get a combined 25.6 mpg, which is impressive. When you switched to Dunlop tires, your mpg dropped to a combined 24.7, but it was worth it for the smoother ride. It sounds like the car was always a pleasure to drive, especially on road trips and vacations!

I've been driving Volvo XC70s for the last 13 years, and I was getting tired of the station wagon styling, but I wasn't willing to go to an SUV or mini-van. When I saw the Venza for the first time in a commercial, I loved it. Finally, I found a slightly-used (2,300 miles) 2010 model that was fully loaded, including navigation. I've had the car for 10 days now and I absolutely love it. It has great styling and is really fun to drive. The ride can be a little bumpy at times due to the 20

The alternator failed at 105k miles, but I am confident in Toyota's overall quality. I bought this vehicle used after owning a Tundra that I was extremely satisfied with for 14 years, with no complaints or additional expenses other than maintenance. The driver's side visor also broke apart, which is inconvenient for driving in So Cal.

It sounds like you've had some frustrating experiences with your car, but it's great to hear that it's still going strong at 160,000 miles! While it's unfortunate that you've had to replace some expensive parts, it's good to know that there was an extended warranty available for the oil cooler issue. Thank you for sharing your honest review and your experiences with the car. It's always helpful to hear from other car owners.

After 1 month of ownership, I'm happy to report that I haven't experienced any mechanical problems. Everything works as it should. The interior is of good quality and the exterior design is modern and progressive. The seats are comfortable and the dashboard is well-designed and easy to navigate. While there are a few blind spots when driving in reverse, they're easy to get used to and accommodate for. Overall, I'm really enjoying my experience with this car!
