Toyota Venza problems

The Toyota Venza is a five-passenger mid-size crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Toyota primarily for the North American market, beginning with its introduction in 2008 and now in its second generation — with a hiatus for model years 2018–2019.
The first-generation Venza was based on the XV40 series Camry platform and marketed between 2008 and 2017 — and shared the platform with the AL10 series Lexus RX. The second-generation model is a rebadged Japanese-market XU80 series Harrier and has been sold since September 2020.
The name "Venza" is a mix of "Venture" and "Monza."

2 Common Toyota Venza Problems
- Musty and Moldy A/C. Toyota air conditioners smell like mold in numerous vehicles. ...
- Rodents Chew Soy-Coated Wires. Somewhere in the mid-2000's there was an industry-wide push by automakers to replace plastic and glass-based wiring insulation with a more eco-friendly soy-based coating.
Why is the Toyota Venza not popular?
The current Venza is often critiqued for its poor cargo capacity compared to competitors, lacking SUV features/options like roof rails or any usable towing capability, but it also offers a claimed best-in-class EPA efficiency rating of 39 MPG combined.
What is the disadvantage of Venza?
Minimal Cargo Capacity
Unfortunately, there isn't too much cargo capacity in the Toyota Venza. It's much smaller than most of the competitors in its class, which proves to be a problem. You'll only find 28.8 cubic feet of storage behind the rear seat.

- Summary: My wife owns this Toyota Venza. On October 9, 2024, I took the vehicle to the dealership for maintenance and all regular checkups passed. No sensor lights nor problem lights were on during the incident. On October 16, 2024 my wife was parking in a spot to pick up the mail in our community's mailbox. She pressed the brake and tried to park the vehicle when suddenly the motor accelerated over the parking lines on its own to a small hill continuously. My wife tried to press the brake multiple times with no success and the motor continued accelerating on its own. My wife turned the steering wheel to the right to avoid running into the hill or flipping the vehicle over. Once turned, the vehicle continued accelerating crossing over a neighborhood street and finally crashing into a neighbor's wall. Once it crashed the wall, all air bags were deployed and the vehicle rebounded back into the street where my wife was eventually able to shift it into parking. Once parked, the vehicle wouldn't start or move at all. Thankfully, there were no fatalities but my wife crashed into a wall and had to be taken to the hospital to be treated for the bruises in her legs and body from the air bag impact. Additionally, our community is gated and thankfully there is little traffic but this problem in a main road or highway could easily injure or kill people. We reported the accident to the local police and filed a report with them. We also notified insurance of the crash and have started a repair claim but the vehicle has not been inspected for any damages or problems. We have video recording of the incident which we will use for insurance and can provide as part of this complaint.

Vehicle year: 2022
I recently purchased my first SUV, a Venza limited, because my wife and I wanted a comfortable and spacious vehicle for our trips with our furry kids. As someone who lives in the foothills of my community and previously owned a 2.0 turbo vehicle, I was hesitant to buy a hybrid. However, the 2.5 engine combined with the electric motors has exceeded my expectations. The quality and features of this car are fantastic, offering near-luxury without any snobbery. Although my car doesn't have the panoramic moonroof, which is a really cool feature, I figured I wouldn't use it much anyway. Surprisingly, I've been achieving the EPA gas mileage estimate and the car has several display screens that encourage conservation. The safety suite of features is on par with many luxury brands, and I appreciate that I can easily turn on or off or adjust their sensitivity. The 360-degree camera is great, and while the navigation resolution is below par, it is more than adequate. I haven't really used it yet, but apparently, with real-time updates, it's going to be great. Once you get used to the large 12No complaints yet on the lack of knobs to control the climate and radio. As many have said, you will get used to it, but you definitely need to keep a microfiber wipe available to clean the fingerprints from the touch screen.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with this car. I bought it back in March 2018 when it had around 117,000 miles on it. It's the 6 cylinder version and it has great power - I believe it has the same engine as the Camry 6 cylinder. The MPG is usually around 20, but under ideal conditions, I can get around 28 mpg. Overall, it's a good solid car. The only thing I've noticed is that the plastic on the interior isn't quite up to par, but it's holding up fine after almost 10 years. One thing I really like about it is the nice big doors, which make it easy to get in and out of the vehicle. As of January 2020, the car has around 137,000 miles on it. I've noticed that two of the four original struts are leaking a bit, but other than that, it's been a great vehicle so far. Let me know if you have any questions!

I can't believe the quality of this car, but then again, it is a Toyota. The ride is quiet and smooth, and the engine and drive-train perform flawlessly. It's hard to find any deficiencies in this car, and the only trouble we have is that it does so much. We are always referring to the manual to find out how to do things, but I suppose that's something most modern car owners face. Overall, this is the best car we've ever owned and ridden in!

Check out the other cars in this category, and you will be pleasantly surprised at the value you get with the Venza! The interior is stylish and the cargo room is impressive. I recently traded in a Mercedes CLK convertible for this SUV and I am surprised at how much I am enjoying the comfortable, smooth ride and roomy interior. The thick, creamy grey leather and black piping in the interior reminds me of a Bentley Continental Flying Spur. Although the Venza is not a Bentley, it sure makes you feel like you are driving one! I think Toyota discontinued this model too soon. With a little more exterior styling and a shorter length, it could easily outshine its competitors. The interior layout is perfect for baby boomers who are used to wood trim and creature comforts. Plus, the extra cargo space is great for shopping! I am confident that you will love this car!

Vehicle year: 2014
What is that? It's a Toyota Venza. Think of it as a lighter version of the Lexus RX350, as they are based on the same K platform. Even Toyota didn't know what this was - is it an SUV, a wagon, a car, or a crossover? The answer is, it's all of the above. It's a stylish crossover that handles pretty well with firmer suspension and decent handling thanks to the 19-inch tires. It really is the Un-Toyota. This is a great road and commuter car, with limousine-like legroom. After cross-shopping every SUV/Crossover out there of 2013/2014 vintage, nothing came close to this in terms of features, driving dynamics, and price. These are now orphans since they were discontinued so major deals are out there. The 2.7 motor is plenty for this vehicle, even with AWD. The shifter location was not the deal-breaker I thought it would be and the tiptronic feature does help to motivate things. The seats are very good; much better than any Toyota seat I've ever sat in. It's a shame that Toyota faithful shunned it, but it's their loss. If you're looking for a stylish and affordable crossover, the Venza is definitely worth considering. The backup camera is a great feature, although it and the display can be difficult to see in bright sunlight. I have taken this car on five-hour drives with no issues. The JBL system is also fantastic, better than any JBL system from the past. While many people complain about issues such as spongy brakes, weak A/C, vague electric steering, sunroof leaks, and noises, this car has none of these issues even at 45K miles. My suggestion is to take it for a 2-hour drive on all kinds of roads and see for yourself. On the downside, the Toyota paint is disappointing. The attitude black color is beautiful, but it's so soft that it can be scratched with a fingernail and chips very easily. The amount of orange peel in it on a car that costs over 35K is unacceptable. I hate to think what it will look like in ten years. Also, the foot emergency brake is a bit of a letdown. Toyota spent so much time designing this huge console that they left no room for a conventional e-brake. The leather on the steering wheel and shifter is not to my taste. The satin mahogany wood is also not my favorite. Additionally, I'm not a fan of push-button start, but that's just my personal preference. The 19-inch wheels look great and add to the handling, but just wait until it's time for tire replacement, which can cost $1000 or more. The pano roof is nice, but it only opens about 12 inches max, which seems odd given that the roof is over 90 inches long. There's no luggage rack with the sunroof, which is surprising since most other manufacturers offer one. Yet Toyota sees fit to offer no less than 10 cup holders in a vehicle that holds 5 people. The Distance to Empty readout is not very accurate; it's off by at least 100 miles. Fog Lights are also a bit of a letdown, as they can't be turned on unless the low beam headlights are on. These are FOG lights, Toyota, you're supposed to use them when you CAN'T use your headlights because it would reflect back. Why don't the window sweeps remove the morning dew when you roll the windows down? And have you ever wondered why you can't open the rear window on the hatch without opening the rear hatch? Additionally, Toyota uses tire pressure sensors, unlike many other manufacturers who have moved to using the ABS tone ring instead. Unfortunately, each sensor must be manually logged in the computer with a special device from the dealer, and the computer only stores 4 sensors. This can be a hassle for people who buy AWD because of bad weather and often run snow tires in the winter. However, there are aftermarket sensors available that can be cloned if you know the original numbers. It's also worth noting that these sensors tend to leak air due to corrosion and have a finite battery life. Overall, it's important to be aware of these factors when considering tire pressure sensors.

The best things about this car are its awesome interior design and the V6 engine's power. The Bluetooth connects quickly and the stereo sound is great. The car's shape is classy and reminiscent of an old 1930s Mercury. The back seats can accommodate three people comfortably, although the middle passenger may have to deal with a foot hump. However, there are some downsides to this car. The steering columns are made of plastic and tend to break often, costing $2500 each time. The interior is also very squeaky, and the dashboard is not as tight as it could be. The cabin noise is high, especially on cement highways. The brakes and rotors wear out quickly due to the massive 20-inch tires. I have already spent $4200 on this car, and it's only a few months old. If you're a perfectionist, I would recommend buying a Highlander or a RAV4 instead. Trust me on this.

It's unfortunate to hear that your Venza has developed a hole in the floor carpet on the driver's side, especially with only 32,000 miles on it. It's understandable to be concerned about the quality of materials used by Toyota. Despite purchasing an extended warranty, the dealer and Toyota have stated that it is considered a wear item. Hopefully, the rest of the vehicle will hold up better for you.

I have experienced several issues with my Venza AWD over the past 24 months, including rattles in the dash/console, interior light malfunctions, and delayed upshifting of the automatic transmission. Despite Toyota's attempts to fix the issues through reflashing, the problems have persisted. Additionally, I have been disappointed with the fuel economy, which has averaged 15mpg with a 50/50 mix of in-town and interstate driving. I am currently considering my options regarding the vehicle.

In the past year and a half, I have experienced multiple issues with my vehicle, resulting in 14 separate dealership visits. These issues include problems with the battery, rattles and build quality, transmission, heated seats, stability control, and remote keyless system. While Toyota service can be inconsistent, I have confidence in their ability to resolve these issues. It is worth noting that I am not the only Venza owner who has experienced problems, as I have met several others at my dealership. However, I still believe in Toyota's overall quality, as my 2000 4Runner with over 200,000 miles feels better built than my current vehicle.
