2001 Toyota Camry problems
The Toyota Camry (/ˈkæmri/; Japanese: トヨタ・カムリ Toyota Kamuri) is an automobile sold internationally by the Japanese auto manufacturer Toyota since 1982, spanning multiple generations. Originally compact in size (narrow-body), the Camry has grown since the 1990s to fit the mid-size classification (wide-body)—although the two widths co-existed in that decade. Since the release of the wide-bodied versions, Camry has been extolled by Toyota as the firm's second "world car" after the Corolla. As of 2022, the Camry is positioned above the Corolla and below the Avalon or Crown in several markets.
In Japan, Camry was once exclusive to Toyota Corolla Store retail dealerships. Narrow-body cars also spawned a rebadged sibling in Japan, the Toyota Vista (トヨタ・ビスタ)—also introduced in 1982 and sold at Toyota Vista Store locations. Diesel fuel versions have previously retailed at Toyota Diesel Store. The Vista Ardeo was a wagon version of the Vista V50.
Etymology
The name "Camry" derives from the Japanese word kanmuri (ja:冠, かんむり), meaning "crown". This follows Toyota's naming tradition of using the crown name for primary models starting with the Toyota Crown (1955), continuing with the Toyota Corona (1957) and Corolla (1966); the Latin words for "crown" and "small crown", respectively. Maintaining this theme was the Toyota Tiara (1960) named after the "tiara" form of crown. The Atara trim level name used on the Camry in Australia since 2011 means "crown" in Hebrew. The rebadged Camry variant for Japan, the Toyota Scepter (1991)—took its name from "scepter", a royal accessory to a crown.

- Summary: I AM THE 2ND OWNER OF THIS CAR , AND I HAVE LOVED IT UNTIL THE DAY THE ACCELERATOR DIDN'T WORK. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MOUNTAIN, NOT USING THE ACCELERATOR UNTIL I REACHED THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE PEDAL WOULD NOT MOVE. I COASTED INTO THE NEAREST TURNOFF. THE CAR WAS RUNNING , I PUT IT INTO" PARK", WHILE STILL RUNNING I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS SOMETHING (FLOORMATS) BLOCKING THE PEDAL. THERE WAS NOTHING. I TRIED MASHING IT AS HARD AS I COULD, NO MOVEMENT. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED. THE PEDAL WAS OK, ACCELERATED JUST FINE. I BELIEVE I REBOOTED THE COMPUTER. I CAREFULLY DROVE TO MY MECHANIC, HE CHECKED THE "PLATES" AND OTHER POSSIBLE PROBLEMS AND COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE , THEY ADVISED TAKING IT TO THE NEAREST DEALER. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST BUT I COULD BRING IT IN TO BE CHECKED. I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR THAT DISTANCE OVER 200 MILES ROUNDTRIP. I LATER RECEIVED A SMALL CHECK FROM "TOYOTA ECONOMIC LOSS SETTLEMENT ADMINISTRATOR " FOR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT. I DID NOT CASH IT. I WAS ADVISED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR. I WOULD LIKE TO SELL IT BUT ETHICALLY CAN NOT BECAUSE I DON'T WANT SOMEBODY KILLED OR INJURED IN IT. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES AT THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND A SOLUTION. BUT THEY CLAIM THIS PROBLEM COULDN'T HAPPEN AND WERE NOT HELPFUL. IT COULD BE SOLD TO A JUNK YARD AT A LOSS BUT AGAIN, IT COULD BE SOLD FROM THERE AND DRIVEN. ANY ADVICE?

I bought this car from a friend who was looking to upgrade to a 2008 model. It's in excellent condition and I love the two-tone paint and other upgrades that came with the Gallery Series. Although it had 162,000 miles on it, it looks like new. I did replace the tires, brake pads, and belts, but only because I wanted to start fresh. The previous owner took great care of it. On the day I bought it, I changed the oil and had the radiator flushed. I paid only $5,000 for it and I couldn't be happier. I've put another 2,000 miles on it since then. My previous car was a Cadillac Seville, which I drove for 378,000 miles. I mostly drive on the highway and I take great care of my cars to make them last as long as possible.

This is actually my second Camry! My first one was a 1991 model, which I traded in to get my 2001 Camry. My family and I are big fans of Toyota, and I absolutely love my 2001 Camry. I've noticed that it rides even smoother than my previous one, and the pickup is faster too. Plus, the sound coming from my stereo is just awesome!

I love this car! It has a great history, having been a dealer demonstrator before my mother-in-law bought it in 2001. My wife then purchased it from her in 2009, and I've been driving it since 2010. With just over 120,000 miles on the clock, it's my trusty daily commuter. The ride is smooth and quiet, and the interior is comfortable and well-designed. The controls are simple and efficient, making it a pleasure to drive. While it may not be a sports car, there's something special about this car that I just can't put my finger on. The gas mileage is also pretty decent, with an average of 24.4 MPG and a best tank of 31.9 MPG on all-highway miles.

Hi there! I just wanted to share with you how much I love my car. I actually bought it from MIL back in 2006 and I'm still driving it today! Can you believe it? It has over 243,526 miles on it and I've only had to put in about $5000.00 for maintenance over the years. I usually take it to a local Toyota Specialist who uses Toyota parts, which I think really helps, but honestly, I just think it's a really great car. I'm really hoping I can keep it going because I know I'll never find another car like this Camry!

As far as A to B vehicles go, this one is top-notch. It can cruise at 85mph all day, every day. If you're looking to buy one, consider purchasing from the southern States.

I purchased the car based on extensive research, but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. The base model's handling was subpar, with unresponsive steering and poor braking. Additionally, the car exhibited instability at highway speeds. As a result, I made the decision to trade it in after only 10,000 miles.

In the past 2 years of owning the Camry, there have been several issues that needed to be addressed. The window motors for both the driver and passenger side had to be replaced, and the car has experienced overheating. Additionally, the cigarette lighter and phone charger outlet required replacement, but still do not function properly. The car had difficulty starting for 4 months, and the dealership initially dismissed it as normal operation. However, it was later discovered that the entire computer needed to be replaced. Lastly, the plastic lining around the base of the door is coming off. These issues have led me to reconsider purchasing a Toyota in the future.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my Toyota product. I've noticed that my brakes have been squeaking since shortly after the break-in period. When I brought it up to the Longo Service Manager, they mentioned that it's considered an acceptable level of noise. I'm just curious if this is something they mention to all new buyers. If you're considering purchasing a Toyota product, it might be worth asking about. Just a friendly tip! Take care.
