I have always thought of Toyota as being one of the most reliable cars on the road. I have taken the car to the dealer near me (Toyota South Morrow, GA). Of course they do not want to further investigate this problem further. But I am sure is the problem. My mechanic also agrees that this is likely the problem.? What component failed? Engine / Oil How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The car could stop at any time with engine failure, blown gaskets, etc. The problem is easily reproduce every oil change. Toyota Dealership has reviewed the problem. Now the consumption is so bad I have to check the oil every 2 weeks. The low oil indicator does not come on. It first appeared in about 2019 and has been getting steadily worse without any way to stop it. 2) SUSPENSION- On every single Toyota I’ve owned (4) the struts wore very quickly and are NOT a cheap fix. I had to at one point, fix them more than once in the same vehicle. I was told by the repair tech that it is a common issue seen in Toyotas. If a strut goes while driving it can cause major safety issues for the driver. 3)WHEELS- The hubcaps more specifically speaking, on every Toyota I’ve owned, have also had an issue maintaining its hubcaps. One rolled off on the highway and nearly caused me to crash as it hit the side of my car and slid under the rear tires and made me slide all over the snowy highway. Luckily there weren’t many vehicles on the road or it could’ve been catastrophic. I also notice that the light for the tire pressure never turns off either. I can fill the tires, empty the tires, it does not matter, the light will never go off.

  • Summary: The ABS brake actuator, part 44510-30270, initially failed in January of 2021 while traveling on the highway from Los Angeles to San Francisco. The VSC (vehicle stability control system) message appeared accompanied by multiple warning lights, followed by severely limited braking ability which endangered my family during high speed traffic on the 5 freeway. I purchased a used actuator on eBay immediately, it lasted not quite 2 years (it's 2023), it has now failed. I recently purchased a new used actuator pump again, and it has failed immediately. There is obviously a design flaw with this part, yet YOU (NHTSA) and Toyota refuse to address it properly. There is no reason why this device has not been recalled other than negligence. You need to reopen this case, and force Toyota to recall this part before someone is injured or worse!

  • Summary: Toyota is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 Camry, Camry Hybrid, RAV4, Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Tundra, Sequoia, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Yaris, Scion xB, Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. The power window master switch assemblies in some of these vehicles were built using a less precise process for lubricating the internal components of the switch assemblies. Irregularities in this lubrication process may cause the power window master switch assemblies to malfunction and overheat.
  • Consequence: If the switch overheats, it may melt, possibly resulting in a fire.
  • Remedy: Toyota will notify its owners, and dealers will inspect the switch and apply a special grease that inhibits heat build up or replace any switch damaged by the defect, free of charge. Toyota owners that experience a problem with a switch should not attempt to make repairs, but should contact their Toyota dealer or the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331. General Motors will contact the Pontiac Vibe owners affected by this recall and GM dealers will inspect and repair switches as necessary. Those owners may contact Pontiac Customer Care at 1-800-762-2737.

Despite regular oil changes at the dealership, we were not notified of the piston ring oil consumption issue. Unfortunately, Toyota and the dealership are now refusing to fix the problem due to the expired time for correction. Additionally, we had to pay for a transmission replacement two years ago. This experience has been disappointing.

    I have owned three Camrys in the past and they were all great. However, my experience with the 07 model and up was not as positive. I used to own a 05 Camry and I loved it so much that I regret trading it in. Unfortunately, my 07 Camry has been nothing but problematic. The paint came off the bumper after a car wash, the transmission has had issues and shifts weirdly, I had to replace the radio four times, and the power seat is broken. Despite seeking help from the dealership, I did not receive any assistance. After only 8 months and 65k miles, I decided to trade it in for a 09 Honda Accord EXL V6, which I absolutely love. I have decided not to purchase a Toyota again. Thank you for reading my experience.

    I really like the exterior and interior of this car. It's very comfortable, especially considering the price. The interior is classy and the standard MP3 is a useful feature. The car also has a host of curtain bags and standard features which add to its appeal. Additionally, the car is very quiet and has a luxurious look similar to a Lexus. However, I have noticed some hesitation issues, particularly during rush hour traffic in the Bay Area. The start can be a bit rough and the 20-40 mile range hesitation is worse. While the transmission could be better, I still prefer this car over the new Camry. I do have some concerns about merging on freeways, but overall I am happy with my purchase.

    The 2007 Camry XLE V6/6sp Auto has been in the shop 4 times already, with the last call from the dealer being to replace the transmission. The build quality is rather poor, with unsightly gaps in the passenger side dash where it does not fit together properly. The steering is light and floaty without any on-center feel making for a numb driving experience. Additionally, there is lots of road noise on worn road surfaces. It is clear that the 2007 Camry does not measure up to the standards of a high-quality vehicle.

    My 2007 4-cylinder Camry has always vibrated when stopped with the AC on. The dealer attempted several solutions, including switching to name brand high test gas, multiple computer adjustments to 750 RPM at idle, and a top engine cleaner. However, the vibration persisted and they have now recommended a new throttle valve assembly, which they claim is defective. While this will cost me $1000.00, Toyota has agreed to cover $500.00 of the cost. Despite this frustrating experience, I remain confident in the quality of Toyota vehicles and will consider them for future purchases.

    This is my first Toyota and I am absolutely loving it! I used to have a Nissan Altima 2.5S, but the Camry is definitely a better overall car. I especially appreciate the extra 93hp and torque. Driving around in this car is an awesome experience and I can't get enough of it. Although my commute to work is now too short, I still enjoy every moment behind the wheel.

    Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my 2007 V6 Camry XLE that I purchased new from a dealer in New Jersey. I'm happy to report that the vehicle has been completely trouble-free with 87,000+ miles on it! The only warranty service I had done was the oil line for the VVT, which was taken care of by the selling dealer before it even had a chance to leak. I personally change the engine oil and filter at 2,500 miles because I don't believe in extended oil/filter change intervals. And, I'm proud to say that I don't have any sludge in my engine! To keep it running smoothly, I use an upper cylinder lubricant every time I fill up (four ounces to every ten gallons). Thanks for listening!

    The '07 Camry is a fantastic car for the price! The interior is spacious and the controls are well-placed and easy to use. The ride is smooth and comfortable, making it a pleasure to drive. While it may not be the fastest car on the road, it still accelerates well. I personally have the 4 cylinder with manual transmission and it has been a great choice. It's worth noting that my car was built in Kentucky with 75% North American part content. I have had no issues with it, except for the hesitation when accelerating that many people have experienced. However, this is an easy fix - I simply took mine to the dealer and 35 minutes later, it was fixed with a simple engine control computer reprogramming.

    This is my second review on Edmunds. I previously wrote a review on my 1997 Lincoln Town Car, which I still have and love. The Camry is my mother's car, but I drive it more often than not. I am writing this review because she would never say a bad word about any Toyota product. Let's start with the negatives: the interior is well-designed but looks cheap and there are plenty of squeaks and rattles. The padded dash was nice until it started melting in the heat a few years ago, which makes it very sticky and easy to scratch. Although she received a notice from Toyota about this, she never had it fixed. We've had somewhat elevated oil consumption, although apparently not as bad as others. With 130,000 miles, it's not that bad. The power locks went out at about 95,000, although that may be an isolated issue. The build and body quality is also disappointing; the trunk is moderately misaligned and will not shut unless you slam it. Some panels fit loosely, and there are a few cosmetic issues. One of the dummy fog lights fell out. Having had 3 other Camrys, including my Dad's 2005, this is very irritating. His has a high-quality interior and excellent build quality. Despite all this, the car does have many good points. It's very comfortable and quiet, gets good gas mileage, and aside from the oil consumption, we've never had a major problem with it. The engine and transmission are smooth and refined. All in all, I think Toyota is a decent company that makes mostly reliable, if unexciting, vehicles. However, sometimes they ride high on their reputation, and the quality on this car is nowhere near what it used to be. I've test-driven newer ones, and they have improved, but still not as nice as they used to be. Overall, I would recommend this car to anyone who's interested, but people who care about driving should know that there's nothing exciting about it or almost any other Toyota product.They always get you from point A to point B predictably, but they're very boring.
